Senior Member arfy Posted September 4, 2002 Senior Member Share Posted September 4, 2002 I have no personal experience with Kabaker, but I understand he is a big advocate of scalp reductions, which I recommend you AVOID, unless you want some scars that make it look like you had some experimental brain surgery or were hit in the head with an axe. Even though he has done many alopecia reductions with excellent results, his practice is almost all grafting. To his credit, he was one of the first AR specialists to say that grafting is the gold standard and to drastically reduce AR surgery once FU grafting was developed. Before you discount AR as totally without merit, you should see the Mexican kid with severe traumatic scarring hair loss he did (gratis). Those skills gave this kid back his life. Dr. Kabaker has my utmost respect. The best way to evaluate any doctor is to visit him in person and see his results. Don't take any of these web messges as gospel, including mine. Regular Member sah1974 Posted September 5, 2002 Regular Member Share Posted September 5, 2002 I don't know anything about Kabaker, but if you are in the Bay area, I certainly recommend you check out Dr Roy Jones of NHI in San Jose. I am extremely happy with my results so far (late class 3 1200 grafts or so in APril of this year). I believe it is great to evaluate all your options, and with Dr. Jones being nearby (I live in SF), I would check him out. Besides his work, which I believe is excellent, he is an easy going individual. He takes his time to consult with you and really gain an idea as to what results you are wanting to achieve. Simply put, he listens to you, and then he provides you with realistic expectations. After my initial consultation, I called and left him a message about a general question regarding the surgery. He actually called me back the same day with my answer on a break in the midst of surgery. I'd heard about Roy Jones and NHI and will probably go to their seminar next month where you can meet patients and doctors. Their website is also quite informative.
