Regular Member M_D Posted April 10, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted April 10, 2008 Dear All Well, I have finally reached the hopeful and expectant three month mark. I had a transplant with Dr. Rahal (great Dr. and person) on new years eve 2007. I received 1400 grafts front side (700 per temple region) and 1900 grafts went into the crown. I am not in possession of the exact breakdown of grafts i.e. 1`s, 2`s and 3`s, but perhaps Adrian can chime in here? The last three months have been strange to say the least. I had very little shock loss up until about three weeks ago, than BAM! It hit with a vengeance. My three month photos have been taken under normal lighting, brighter lighting and one view from the top with flash. I am well and truly in the ugly ducking phase, a.k.a. the doldrums and it sucks big time. Summer has already started here (in Spain) and I am having to hide out at home or under a hat. Not sure what sucks the most at the moment, looking like shite or the waiting. Comments welcome.
Bill - Seemiller
M_D, Thanks for the update. In looking at your pictures, I'd say you are right on track. And honestly, I don't really see indication of shock loss when comparing your pictures to your preoperative ones. Lighting and the length of your hair may be deceiving either to you, or to us, but you know your head best. Either way, it's not unusual to have shock loss up to about 3 months. Week 5-10 were always the hardest for me and then gradually the "shocked" hair would start to regrow as well as the transplanted hair. You are in the very early stages of receiving a nice head of hair. Keep us posted! Bill
Senior Member chucky Posted April 10, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted April 10, 2008 Your work looks great and at three months you look fine. Hopefully you may be an early grower so you can enjoy the Summer but remember you need to keep your scalp out of the sun anyway. Keep the updates coming as thats a great album. 2 x strip ht`s with Norton, very poor results 1 x fue ht with DHI,very poor result
Senior Member NervousNelly Posted April 11, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted April 11, 2008 I agree with Bill that I really don't think that you have had a lot of shockloss although it could be the lighting/different hair lengths. I personally think that your mind starts playing some major BS with you at that stage. Is is possible that you hung onto some grafts for a long time and then they finally left? Either way, you'll be dynamite shortly. Keep us posted. NN Dr.Cole,1989. ??graftcount Dr. Ron Shapiro. Regular Member M_D Posted April 11, 2008 Author Regular Member Share Posted April 11, 2008 Thanks guys for your comments. In hindsight, you guys make some good points. On looking at my album it doesn`t at all look too bad. My mind is playing games with me and I know I am in for a bit of a ride over the next few months. But it is good to hear comments from the forum from experienced guys (you lot!) who have been there, done that and got the t-shirt. I will look to add to the album in the first week of May. Spex: A great kitchen? Yes. But I can`t cook for love nor money and I am still to use it, despite being here for nearly a year and a half.
