NYBOY
Just wanted to share my experiences with Dr. Bernstein in NY (also NJ). I had some procedures done in the early 90's by a group in Connecticut who has changed their name and location a million times. It was the salesman in the white coat etc etc.... Anyway, years later the hair behind the old grafts were now gone and I didn't like the way they looked plus I needed a large transplant. I looked around at different places and heard Dr. Bernstein's name over and over again. I Went to see him and his operation. Also went to an open house twice to see former patients. Bottom line there was no pressure what so ever, unlike other places and he was very nice and honest too. No games, he will lay it out as far as your possibilities.I could have visited a milion times too, very open door place. I decided to choose him.First I needed the old grafts repaired, which is the right way to go. Not just put new over old which some doctors might. Also to spread the repairs out to let the scalp heal.I had two seperate repair surguries to remove the old grafts; make them smaller and put in the right direction and place a small amount of new grafts. They both went very well. I couldn't believe how good I felt even the day of and afterwards each time. I took two pain pills, one the night of and the night after. I had the whole bottle leftover and never needed them. After having the two repair sessions (spread apart by several months) it was time for the large session of just over 1700 grafts. I had it done in their new office in NYC. Beautiful place! Just like the other procedures, it went fine. No pain and I watched the three stooges marathon and some hockey on the big screen while I was having it done. Received lunch, had a little more work done and I was on my way home. It's been about a week and things are going smoothly. Get the stiches out soon. They are hidden under my hair and contrary to what many people believe the top of your head is not bloody etc... The transplant is easily concealed. Two other things I have to mention. #1, the staff there is also very good and friendly. #2, two times out of the three I had paid for an estimated amount of repairs and grafts and they weren't needed. I was refunded the money. How many places would do that? Most would just say they did it and whose to know... I also received a breakdown of the grafts like how many singles, doubles etc.. so I know exactly what happened. I have to add, several years ago I had some pictures published in Playgirl magazine and plan to do more, so I wasn't going to choose just anyone for this. I will keep everyone updated on the progress of my grafts. If you have a chance you should go see Dr. Bernstein and his operation. No pressure environment. He's a cool guy. Nice office, nice staff and of course Dr. Bernstein.(His body of work/awards/record etc, speak for themselves). Thanks and have a good one! Senior Member the B spot Posted February 25, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 25, 2007 Nelly, I wish you wouldn't focus so hard on my best "parts" LOL!!!!!!! Quit staring at my hump!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!! Anyway, I found my photo shoot for Playgirl very tasteful and professional. I think it will lead to bigger and better opportunities. In addition, I think it is all about giving back to the community...... NYBOY probably feels the same as I do.... women need a magazine that does not exploit men, but still enables them to use a visual aid for their fantasies.... I am just glad that we can bring hope to so many (hehe....... ) Go Cubs! 6721 transplanted grafts 13,906 hairs Performed by Dr. Ron Shapiro Dr. Ron Shapiro and Dr. Paul Shapiro are members of the Coalition of Independent Hair Restoration Physicians. Senior Member NervousNelly Posted February 25, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted February 25, 2007 NYBoy, I couln't pass up the opportunity for a chuckle, but in all seriousness I appreciate your detailed experience and many will truly benefit from it. I'm not overly familiar with Dr.Bernsteins work but his name definitely comes up pretty regularly and always in a positive light. I'm sure you'll benefit immensely from his talents. Good luck in the healing process. NN Dr.Cole,1989. ??graftcount Dr. Ron Shapiro.
