mac1980
Why is it that the first male born in a family seems to suffer more hair loss. Or those men with an older sister sometimes dont suffer hairloss.

Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted October 13, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted October 13, 2008 I haven't seen any studies discussing why that seems to occur, but I would agree that I see more "oldest brothers" with hair loss. Now before you say that its just because the younger brothers haven't gotten old enough...I would add that my comment above is related to guys in their 40's and above. Although hair loss is very genetic, there is a lot of luck involved too. Plus, hair loss is likely a multi-genetic issue, so that even though siblings share alot of the same genes, there is variability too. Science just hasn't gotten accurate enough to pinpoint all of these genetic clues yet. Dr. Lindsey McLean VA William H. Senior Member HairDew Posted October 13, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted October 13, 2008 That is not true. I'm a twin (we are not identical) and I'm about NW3 where my twin brother(who is OLDER) has NO hairloss at all
Regular Member ezduzit Posted October 13, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted October 13, 2008 My younger brother and I have the same hair loss pattern. We actually started loosing hair at the same time (age 23). Oh yeah, we are 6 years apart (31/25). The other men in my family actually started losing their hair much later than we did. Senior Member Stimpson Posted October 13, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted October 13, 2008 If only this were true for me. I am the youngest of 3, with an older brother and also an older sister. I am pushing a NW6, and my brother has no detectable MPB at all. Stimpy
Regular Member Dr. William Lindsey Posted October 14, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted October 14, 2008 Stimpy, It all evens out. If your brother has a full head of hair, he has other issues. We all do. Maybe his dog chews his shoes, or his wife can't cook. Dr. Lindsey William H.
