crusting falls with hair attached

this is my 13 day post operation and still have some crusting .......what should I do?

 

I am really concern about my result since this is my second HT...

 

 

my story

the first one was in Lebanon Beruit (1500 grafts) as told in Jan 2006. I think I saw 300 hair came out. most of it was in the vertex area and around 100 grafts in the crown. not only no one hair came out in the crown but it got bigger and the excisting ones dissappeared.I had the absorable sutures in the donor area. you can not immagine how big is my scar even your thumb can fit in it no kidding.

 

the second HT was to increase the density of front and decrease the scar. I had it done in Transmed (maximum grafts is 2052) since my scar was too big as per Dr. Ergin. now I removed the staples 3 days ago. the scar really really changed. it is almost invisible (thanks god).

but still have crusting and itche

Some of the crusting will fall of with the attached stubble, while in other cases crusting falls off on its own. As long as you allow the crusting to resolve in place, you'll be fine. DO NOT PICK OFF THE CRUSTING. At 13 days you should be very gently massaging the crusting in the shower. Use small circular motions and make sure that your fingernails don't get caught in the crusting. My doc asked me to soak my head in a warm bath for 20 min before showering. I also applied mineral oil to the graft area and was crust free by day 15 or so.

Hair can sometimes and even often shed with the scabs while the follicle is alive and well beneath the surface of the scalp.

 

As long as you don't see blood, the follicle should be in good health.

thanks guys....when I am messaging the area with my fingers I remove some crusting easily with no intention just little touch and they will fall off...is by doing this everything OK?

yeah...some of the crusting will break free from the scalp but will get stuck in the transplanted hair..thats what you're when you massage the area..its completely normal

I think I was concerned abt this more than neone else :-) have written to Bill abt countless times regarding this.

 

This is absolutely normal.
