Guest
A few weeks back I noticed that I am seeing more skin than usual near the vertex area. Hair near temples and front looks okay. I saw a dermatologist. She told it looks fine to her. She said if I still wish to do something, then try Rogaine. She said she will defintely not prescribe Propecia for me. She said its too early. The hair that is falling from vertex region is thin and short. I have enclosed some pics. I am 31. Please give me some advise. I read in Wikipedia that Rogaine's effect fades with time. If hair regrows, will it be lost again as the effect of rogaine reduces?
Senior Member hairbank Posted December 15, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted December 15, 2006 hairloss, You MAY have the starting of thinning in the crown, a little tough to tell from your pics. It really looks pretty good.........in all truthfulness, you have a pretty good-lookin' head of hair! Not sure why your derm won't prescribe Propecia for you but if she thinks you don't have Male-Pattern-Baldness maybe that's it?? Rogaine (Minoxidil) and Propecia have been proven to halt or slow hair loss (specifically in the crown) and may even help regrow hair in many cases. You may want to get a second opinion. Rogaine's regimen is pretty messy, it was too messy for me. I opted for Propecia but had already lost tons of hair before trying it. I can tell that it is regrowing some hair, very slowly, so it must be helping somewhat. One thing to consider...................if either Minoxidil or Propecia help you keep or regrow hair, any that you've kept or regrown because of them will fall out if you stop their use. It's pretty much a lifelong commitment and something to go into with both eyes open. Plenty of good information for you hear if you'll use the "Find" feature for research. Hope this helps!
