troy,

Results vary by person, but keep in mind that Propecia is a "maintenance" drug that is primarily used to keep the hair you have and to stave off future loss. Any regrowth seen is pretty much to be seen as added benefit. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

joking apart, how long untill the drug is really active in your body?

Would u notice side effects after 2 bits of it? my lips seem sore, maybe its just the weather.

I have doubts that the Proscar is making your lips sore. If you do have symptoms that start up after first taking the medication, they persist, and you are worried about it being the result of starting the medication then go see a doctor immediately.

You should see a "stabilization" of your hair loss within 4 to 7 months of starting finasteride. The window is large and not exact at all since data and user accounts vary so widely.

I noticed that my hair looked and felt thicker and healthier after starting Finasteride, like many people do. Of course, some hair is rushed into the telegen phase and shed but those were "doomed" anyway. The hair that remains should become healthier.
