Senior Member spoon Posted August 13, 2007 Senior Member Share Posted August 13, 2007 The last line might have been in jest but never consume alcohol in the week preceding your surgery or for at least a few days after your surgery. Thins the blood and can cause a lot of problems. For pain, take the medication and as you say, no need to wait.
Bill - Seemiller
My best guess is that taking vicadin with alcohol is highly frowned upon . Other than taking the pain medication as prescribed - all you can really do is rest. Oddly enough, I have found that from my 3 surgeries, I had varying degrees of pain immediately post op. Also strangely, I experienced less pain from each surgery in numerical order. One could argue that I was accustomed to it by then and knew what to expect. This may be partly true. One might also think, that because each progressive surgery session was larger, that I would experience more pain. This was not the case.
