The last line might have been in jest but never consume alcohol in the week preceding your surgery or for at least a few days after your surgery. Thins the blood and can cause a lot of problems.

 

For pain, take the medication and as you say, no need to wait.

My best guess is that taking vicadin with alcohol is highly frowned upon icon_wink.gif.

 

Other than taking the pain medication as prescribed - all you can really do is rest.

 

Oddly enough, I have found that from my 3 surgeries, I had varying degrees of pain immediately post op. Also strangely, I experienced less pain from each surgery in numerical order. One could argue that I was accustomed to it by then and knew what to expect. This may be partly true. One might also think, that because each progressive surgery session was larger, that I would experience more pain. This was not the case.
