graft shedding

hi guys,

I'm now at 12 days post-op and know this is the time you start to see grafts shedding, but this morning when I woke up I found a number of them on my pillow. Can anyone tell me if this is perfectly normal, or if I might be vigorously scratching my head while I'm sleeping.

Thanks!

toj,

It's perfectly normal to see shedding at this stage, there is nothing to worry about. Are you seeing difference on your head or only on the pillow? Most people notice the loss on their scalp at roughly three weeks but at 12 days is not that unusual.

It should be noted that scratching your scalp at this point is NOT a bad thing. You will not harm any grafts that have begun to grow, and it may well help remove any lingering dead skin, scabs, and/or hair fragments.
