Regular Member Matt-sydney Posted July 11, 2008 Regular Member Share Posted July 11, 2008 Hi group, I had my HT yesterday and woke up this morning with some oozing on the left side. The right side looks fine and very clean. I doubt I knocked it because I fell asleep on my back and woke on my right side. There was no blood on the pillow or bed, just around the grafts. I'm concerned some of the grafts may have failed as a result. Does oozing necessarily mean grafts will fail? I was very careful in cleaning it up, using the saline solution and carefully dabbing the dried blood. I didn't notice any grafts while cleaning, and figure they would be pretty obvious since they would be at least .5cm and dark in colour with the surrounding fatty tissue, right? I also have some very mild discomfort on the right side, but not the left where the oozing occurred. The donor seems fine, barely any oozing during the night. I expect some discomfort though since there are 400 odd tiny wounds!

Senior Member Janna Posted July 11, 2008 Senior Member Share Posted July 11, 2008 Matt, No need to be alarmed. It's normal to ooze a bit - especially the first night. It sounds like you did everything right and you did not lose or harm any grafts. Congrats on your surgery with Dr. Knudsen. Speedy healing and growth to you.
