Regular Member htfm Posted March 11, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted March 11, 2006 Its week 5, have lost 75-80% transplanted hair in Crown and forehead, but still lots remain. Doc says for most they should have fallen by now, but if they stay no major concern. Will the ones that remain grow when the others start to grow or they have there own growth cycle? Also how do the new hairs look like when they start to grow? (tiny small hairs popping here and there) Have used 5% Minoxidil and Propecia since day 5 post op..Could this be a factor in transplant not falling? Thanks much!! Great Site for info.... Regular Member mm Posted March 11, 2006 Regular Member Share Posted March 11, 2006 I am also at week 5. This is my 2nd HT and there is considerably more "initial" growth than my 1st HT. I think it is because of usage of propecia this time. I still expect most to eventually fall out, but I really think propecia increases chance of retention of intial hair growth. I eventually want to discontinue propecia but I am afraid of the sudden fall out.
Senior Member hairbank Posted March 11, 2006 Senior Member Share Posted March 11, 2006 htfm, I'm not sure of a definite answer to your question because everyone's a little different on growth. If you do keep some of the HT hair, it will eventually start growing. After my first HT, I surprisingly kept an esimated 30% or more and they just started growing around the 1 1/2 - 2 month mark. I'm now close to 4 weeks post-op from my 2nd HT and have lost the majority (80% or so) of the grafts but am already starting to see evidence of new growth from HT hair within the last 4 days or so. I don't know about propecia's effect after an HT because I just started taking it about a week after my 2nd HT. Maybe someone else on the forum can reply to this. Be patient and hang in there.........waiting for growth is one of the toughest parts!
