Dates back to when the Pilgrims came and gave thanks for surviving... the trip across the ocean, their first winter, or a bountiful harvest of crops the following year. I'm getting old and forget the details. It usually entails eating tons of turkey, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie, at a minimum. That is followed by a nap and then watching football on television.
