  1. Hi group, I had my HT yesterday and woke up this morning with some oozing on the left side. The right side looks fine and very clean. I doubt I knocked it because I fell asleep on my back and woke on my right side. There was no blood on the pillow or bed, just around the grafts. I'm concerned some of the grafts may have failed as a result. Does oozing necessarily mean grafts will fail? I was very careful in cleaning it up, using the saline solution and carefully dabbing the dried blood. I didn't notice any grafts while cleaning, and figure they would be pretty obvious since they would be at least .5cm and dark in colour with the surrounding fatty tissue, right? I also have some very mild discomfort on the right side, but not the left where the oozing occurred. The donor seems fine, barely any oozing during the night. I expect some discomfort though since there are 400 odd tiny wounds!

  3. Hi all, I just had surgery as the title states, thought I would share my experience so far. I am a norwood 1.5-2 and had 435 grafts. There are about an even number of 3's, 2's and 1's from memory. The recipient site looks clean and well placed. The donor strip was 1cm wide and 6cm long. My head is still numb and a little blood has oozed from the wound, but otherwise it looks ok. I grew may hair about 1.5 inches and already, the scar is undetectable through my hair, no ridge or anything. Everyone was very nice and professional, and Dr Knudsen took my call just before after blood was oozing. I was also happy with the price. So far, so good. I'll post pics soon

  5. I hear what you're saying, but in Australia $7 is fairly reasonable and cheaper than some. It certainly isn't more cost-effective to travel to the US or Europe. The pictures on his website aren't great and are not detailed enough to give a good impression, but there are a few posted on this site that look at least as good as some of the reputable doctors overseas. He also has many thousands of patient file photos that I saw for myself, and they looked very good and were much more detailed than his website.
  6. Hi group, I'm booked in with Dr Knudsen in a month's time and would like to hear from anyone who has had surgery with him. I've searched the posts, but if anyone has any other information I would appreciate it. My experience so far - I had an appointment with him and found him to be relaxed and friendly and informative. He feels my recession is well controlled by drugs and feels I am a good candidate for surgery. He showed me some pictures on his computer of other patients that looked quite good. There were many, many patient files so it seemed that he has indeed performed many thousands of transplants. He also offers to meet past patients, but I decided not to since I figured he would only introduce me to successes anyway. I confirmed with ISHRS that he was a past president, as stated on his website, and has also won the golden follicle award. This makes me believe he is fairly accomplished in his field. He also said he knows Pat Hennessey well, so perhaps Pat has some more information about him? Cheers, Matt

  8. Hi all, I' based in Sydney, Australia, and cannot find any recommended surgeons on the list. I saw a couple of posts that indicated Dr Martinick was recommended, but there are also many posts about horror stories and unprofessional conduct. Are there any recommended Australian surgeon? I've seen a few positive posts about Dr Russell Knudsen, any word on him? Thanks, Matt
