  1. OK, I know I am being too much by being a smart mouth right after my operation. But, I really think I must share this with those who feel same as mine. It took me a long time to decide on the HT. I finally did, and it is my 3rd day after the HT op. This message was intended to help those like me, who still can not manage to discuss this attempt with anyone, I mean anyone, not even your family. I still believe that people around me, my office mates, my oldtime friends would not get my point, and I just don't want to bear this meaningless sessions with each one of them. May be, to a degree, I feel ashamed, so to speak, but I know I did it for myself, and I firmly believed I did the right thing, but this is only something I had to justify myself, not to anyone else. As for my family, I decided to conceal it from my wife because she is a type of person who can not manage her temper such that she could easily tell this to anyone in a moment of anger. Besides, you know how women are. You think you've closed a subject, understood by the both parties, but they keep reheating and reheating it all the time. I know, for sure, that she might have been very resonable if Ihad told her, but I know that she could use this as a serious weapon against me, like "how I spent that money on my selfish needs and so on" anytime. It is like a golden weapon I'd give her in a very critical moment of conflict. Anyhow, after a long process of thinking with things like above feelings, I decided to have the HT, and I decided to keep it only for myself. If you are like me, working in a large company, surrounded by many friends from various parts of your life, having both of your parents surviving in the same city as you do, then you have to be very meticulous. Here is how I carried my plan. STEP ONE: MAKE PEOPLE ACCUSTOMED TO YOU WEARING HAT Because if you don't wear it normally, it'll take a big attraction and make them ask "why". Once I decided to get HT, I bought myself a nice baseball cap, which I can wear in any social environment. I started wearing it almost more than a month before the operation many many times in various places. This way, after your HT, you'll wear it very comfortably. STEP TWO: ARRANGE THE TIMING Arrange your leave from the office, in accordance with the operation day. I arranged it on last Friday, so I worked the thursday as the last day. I took the friday and the rest of the week, which should be enough to return under normal conditions on the monday after next. STEP THREE: HOME ARRANGEMENTS I mentioned my wife briefly that I might be working on a weekend at another town for a very special business case, which must be handled carefully (thank god my job is feasible for such travels). I said this about 10 days before so she accepted that I'll be out of town. STEP FOUR: ARRANGE A HOTEL nearby the HT clinic so that you don't have to travel a lot, which also increases the risk of being seen. STEP FIVE: PREPARE A RATIONAL CAUSE FOR YOUR SCALP APPEARANCE AT HOME I bought one of those minoxidil brands, and took it to my wife to explain what the brochure says. You know why, because the brochure was in French, and she speaks French like a mother tongue. So, she herself read me that this medicine may cause some major irritation, swelling or other things on some skins. Fine, at least she'd remember when I told her that my scalp is irritated by this damn medicine. STEP SIX: STAY AWAY FROM HOME FOR THE FIRST TWO DAYS I was planning to stay 3 nights away, but after the second night, I thought it was enough. At least they didn't see me right after the operation. STEP SEVEN: TELL THE "STORY" AHEAD OF YOUR RETURN I told her that the medicine caused some major skin irritation so that I had to go to the doctor. I also told her that after seeing my scalp the doc wanted to operate on some of the minor acmes so as to prevent them being infected. This is why he injected me so that I can handle both the operation and the painful medicine "he" used against "mine". So, I prepared her on the phone that my head area is irritated by this medicine that I needed to take some precautions. Since I wasn't completely bold, I can hide majority of the HT views under my hair. I mean, she can still see things once she touches my head lift my hair, but I'll keep it short with fears of intimidation. At least, her eyes wouldn't be stuck on if I had a completely bald head. I am home now, and my wife didn't return her sunday trip yet. Once she returns, I'll let you know if this plan was bought successfully. The only thing that I am having difficulty is how to explain the head band. I am planning to tell that I have to wear it so that the new medicine doesn't come down to my eyes, or something like that. Luckily, the hotel was not that crowded, I didn't get caught by anyone while getting the first day wash at the clinic. It was really horrible to sit within a hotel room doing nothing. I mean, I had my notebook computer, many books, but still it sucks to know that your liberty is under control. Anyhow, this is how I tried to handle my case without telling to anyone (except you people). May be, when I grow up to have more courage, I'll share it with some. I hope the plan works for people like myself.

  3. Now today is the third day after the HT operation. No major problem, except that my doc told me to wear a tennis player headband and a kind of funny hat which doesn't touch the scalp. No big deal, but I look so funny with that hat that I was afraid that someone I know would see me because I need to make a huge explanation. Anyhow, the big thing today is I feel extremely itchy on my scalp. I mean, it is getting more and more irresistable, and almost so bad that I imagine myself scratching them like hell. Is this normal to feel so itchy? The only thing I did today was to go to a movie theatre with my hat on, and I felt like I sweated only a bit under that hat since the weather was very fine. Of course, I took it off while inside, but the itchiness increased afterwards.

  5. First time I saw an HT specialist was in 1999. Then I was 33, and I thought it might be little early until getting some more of it fall down so that the operation makes sense. So, I buried this subject for a loooong time until about last year, where I was seriously bothered with my gradually shedding hair. In some public apperances or tv spots where I occasionally go for my job-related activites, I take the tapes to watch them later, and what I see shows me a guy going to bolding in few years. So, I am not considered bold, or too advanced type sufferer, but if I don't do anything nowadays, it would not make sense for me in the future. Anyhow, the big decision was made in November, got a date from an Istanbul-based Transmed clinic, and started to wait for the big day. The operation was yesterday. They took me to the op.room about 13:30. Here are the impressions and what happened afterwards: - The doctor gave me a pill, called Bromelain-POS to take 3 days ahead of the op. so that the swelling doesn't occur. - On the day of the op. he gave me one more pill to reduce excitement. First they took my photos to show before-after views - then they started to apply some deep coolers along with the injections into my donor area. Actually, the injections hurted a bit, but it wasn't like any of those horrible and unbearable denstist pains. I just would like to let you know, it hurts some, and it takes few minutes since the donour area was a pretty big area. - the doctor himself took the FUs, and gave to the specialised nurse teams to segment. - the interesting thing happened just around that time, when my doctor got a call that one of his relatives was suffering from a serious heart attack. That was bad for him, but equally bad for me, sitting in the operation chair, with half finished condition. Luckily, one of the other doctors was there, and he came after a while. Again, luckily, when this happens, he was just finished taking my donour area, and didn't get into the placing the FUs yet. - When I met this doctor first around October, he said the operation would be around 1,800 grafts. After the incision, it turned out to be that they had 2,600 grafts, and they were very happy that my donour area was very good with 3 hair FUs all around. So, I said, "good, let's use them all around so that I wouldn't need a second one". - the second doctor started to place them, and right around his 40th minute, my first doctor came back, after he places his relative into a safe hospital. So, the he it took over. - the op. started at around 1:30 pm, and ended around 6 pm - right after the operation, they washed the sides of the head, and put a bandage on the donour area, and a tennis player's band around the forehead. The doctor said I should keep this for 3 days to make sure swelling doesn't come down from the head. He also gave me ice treatment in every hour or so. - The doctor gave me the following pills to take for the next 5 days: Monodoks, Vioxx ve Ultralan - I didn't have any serious pain in the evening of the operation. I just had some around the donour area, and I took one pain killer anyway. - I applied the ice treatment anyway, and kept my tennis band all the other times - the only pain I had was when I moved my eyebrows upwards which makes the headskin to move upwards a little. Then I feel that the whole head area had some pain, but again, nothing unbearable. - the first night sleep went well. - this morning I went to the clinic to get the first wash. I was told not wash tomorrow, but start washing myself once a day starting from monday, each moving a bit more gradually. - I am told not engage in any sports, sauna, hot sun tanning, smoking for the next two weeks. The doctor also told me not bend forward for a few days. Anyways, here are the instant thoughts of a fresh HT indulger. I am glad that this is over. It has been bothering me for a long time, and I don't intend to do again (not because of anything to do with the operation) because I just wanted to do whatever I can while there is still time, and if doesn't work out, then I'll take boldness in full fairness. I am hoping that 2,600 FUs with my existing hair would do pretty good for me. As for Transmed in Istanbul, so far I can say that their customer relation maangemement is excellent. Although I was given a price for 1,800 FUs, they didn't charge anything eventhough the result was done with 2,600 FUs. This was a very impressive treatment, a strong point for them. Lastly, there is one thing I'd like to share with you and have your thoughts. The doctors (both) were all around during the entire session, but, when the time came to place the FUs to the designated holes of the scalp (opened by the doctors themselves), the placement of the entire 2,600 units were done by 6 different and specialised nurses. They said each of them are 2 to 6 years experienced, handling at least 2 operations a day. The doctor was also around, looking into my scalp, but the actual placement was done by these nurses. Is this a normal procedure?

  7. I've just been into this HT subject for the last few months, and I have been reading about two types of cure for the hair loss: Propecia type pills and Rogain type externally applied minoxidel solutions. My question is, if I am to undergo HT operation within few weeks, considering the postop period, which one of these is more preffered and why? I've heard from a doctor that Propecia may cause some serious irreversable sexual potency issues. In this case, is it better to have Rogain? or, is it required to have both? I have heard that it is recommended to use Rogain for few months after the operation. I'd very much appreciate if someone can bring some clear explanations.

  9. neverold, few last questions: 1) why did you choose this particular clinic? any specific reason? 2) how long did it take you to go back to the normal life? I mean how long your operation area to come to the stage where nobody can understand you had an operation? 3) did you use any supplementary medicine, like propecia? If so, what do you say about their effectiveness? 4) did you have any postop pain? (like right after the operation) thanks so much again
  10. thanks a lot for your answers.... Neverold, the one you had your HT is the same place I am considering. My impression is about the same as yours. They present themselves very good. One thing others (competitors) say about them is that the founder, who is a lady named Melike is actually an anhestetic specialist, not a plastic surgeon, so some say that their operations are not good. But, what counts is your personal experience, and it is the reality. Do you remember the name of the doctor who did your session? Cam, I know the Buyukada Island, but unfortunately I don't know the rock group you mentioned. May be I am too old for these groups....Look forward to hearing your response as well. thanks and regards,
  11. That would be nice....would you please let me know where he had it? thanks and regards, Mortimer
  12. Hello everyone, Are there anybody from Istanbul/Turkey here? If so, I'd like to read about your experiences of HT. Where did you have it, and how do you comment on it?
