  1. are there any other side effects of Propecia other than decreased sperm volume and possible erection failure? someone told me about some further and more complex problems. I had my HT in late 2003, and I have been using it eversine. I intend to use it until I am 40, which makes me a total of 3 years of usage. Are there any other things I should consider about this medicine?
  2. I had my HT ten months ago, and I wonder if I can use hairdryer on a daily basis? Is there any potantial harm?

  4. It has been almost 10 months, but I am not sure if my old hair stylist would understand that I had an HT. I didn't tell it to anyone, and I don't want to. Eversince the HT, I never went to my old hair stylist thinking that he would understand from the scar at the donor area. when exactly would be the time that the scar at the donor area would disappear so that even a barber wouldn't understand anything?

  6. Here is me again, almost 10 months after the HT.....here's an update: The HT really worked out quite good for me. I never intended to have my hairline changed, or excessive amount of new hair. So, prior to HT I started to loose some, and my timing was such that the new grown ones took over for the slowly shedding ones. In my view, I had just enough to make my slightly balding parts to go back how it was before I started to loose. In short, I am very delighted with the result. As for the success of conceiling, well, my wife and my family didn't realise anything. There are only two people who came up and asked me if I had a HT. Both of them have almost bald head, and they seem to pay special attention to people's hair around them. One of them said, "all of a sudden you have a rush of more hair, how did it happen?" Luckily, I remembered the images of the Rogaine box where it is saying that Rogaine may help hair regrowth at the vertex area with images. So, I showed him the box and told him about Propecia as an additional help. He seems to have bought the story, but I never thought that people like this person would realise it. So, for the moment, I could explain it logically.
  7. what exactly is the proper process for applying Rogaine onto the scalp? Are supposed to rub with it with our fingertips? or do we just apply and let it stay as it is? I read all the brochures and documents but nowhere they mention how to apply it....is rubbing afterwards ok?

  9. It has been more than 6 months for me, and I am not sure if I am treating properly. I use hair gel every day...not much, but a soft liquid gel. Is this ok? Can we comb hair with hairdryer?

  11. It has been exactly two months since my op., and I sometimes get some unbearable itching on my receipient area...So, I apply some finger massage on the area with the tip of fingers....is that ok? Sometimes I feel very small tiny pieces of things coming out of my hair...I hope they wouldn't be my implanted grafts among out...what do you say?

  13. Today was exactly the 2nd month postop...Here is my case: -The receipient area still hurts a bit when you touch it with a comb. When will this pain go away? I mean, it isn't like a headache, but you can feel some pain when you touch it. -The receipient area also itches sometime. Is this normal? and a question: my hair is very dry, like a desert bush...It is so dry that I can't even shape after a shower...So, I started to use a material, given to me by my hairdresser. It is a fiber gum, named Osis...You just apply small bit and it makes your hair like a more volume. I also use soft gel sometimes. Is it ok to use such things in this period? If not, what do you recommend? I don't like hard gels, but I need something to shape my hair and make it look more lively. Oh, by the way, I use Propecia and Rogain at the same time.

  15. I thought I heard from my doctor and others writing here that once the scabs start falling, it is quite possible that the hair within those scabs may also fall out. In fact, I saw some hair falling with the scabs, so I thought I was going to loose all my new transplanted ones, may be more from the existing ones, and then, few weeks later, new ones will start growing. It looks like, the new ones started right now. Am I correct, or shall I use these beard-like small ones too?
  16. I am in my 10th day postop. I guess everything went as planned. The scabs fell off, like dandruff flakes. I can feel with my fingertips that I have almost no scabs remained. I also saw some of them lost their hair as well, but today I clearly feel some small hairs on those areas biting my fingertips like a 4 days long beard on my face. Is it possible that new hair grew up so quickly? or are these baird-like small hair the ones transplanted with the operation?

  18. I am almost at my 1st week after my HT, and I started to feel some pain at the donor area, where my stiches are since yesterday. Actually, the pain emerges around night time, and it is like a slight burning feeling. I usually start feeling it after a long sitting for the tv, where I put my head onto my lazychair. After sometime, I start to feel that burning-like feeling at my donor area, which is exactly the same area where I rest my head onto the chair. Is this normal?

  20. I really liked the things written for this message. It gives me all the perspectives of a subject. Like we all know, there is no single "right" or "wrong" in this case. There are only personal preferences here. So, I judge noone here. I only sympathise with those who think like myself. Actually, long before my decision to go ahead with the HT, I was the one who openly discussed the HT operation in public. To me, this is a much more legimate operation than a woman having a silicon piece planted into her brest. At least, these are your own hair, only to be taken from one part of your head to another. The roots still belong to you. Unfortunately, in our current society, things which are way too artificially done for women seem normal whereas such a natural transfer of hair location is perceived to be "abnormal" by some. I remember some famous soccer players here, who were loosing considerable part of their hair, and both had complete hair piece transplanted. It's like complete new image from sunday to monday. Now, they all look ok, as if they have always been like this. In my case, I just didn't want to take the discussions, like why the hell I spent this much money in this economic crisis, why did I do it as a married man and on and on. I did it myself, and I want to carry the pros and cons on myself. By the way, my wife still didn't feel anything yet. She sometimes wonder why I still put some ice on my forehaed, but all my excuses seem to work. As for my barber, I am going to have think something for him too, but he is more expandable for me anyways. I agree with those that say "never talk to the barber", because this news would get to some places I can never imagine. I am to tell this my barber, I would have told my wife several times already.
  21. Can someone explain all the steps of scar healing process? I mean, when should we expect what level of healing, and finally when would be the ultimate time when no one can guess where your scar was? Yesterday I saw my scar in the mirror and it was really a sort of horrifying view. I mean, you definitely need some explanation there if someone sees it.

  23. ts808, How long does it take the donor area to return its normal form? Are we talking about weeks or months?
  24. Actually I am not a cigarette smoker. I smoke those Italian Toscani cigars, like 1 or 2 a day. For those who don't know about Toscanis, they are like a thick cigarillo format, but have a very strong flavor. How long do you think I should refrain from smoking after the operation?
  25. Thanks for the answers....she was back, and to my luck, she bought the story...at least so far.... I agree with most of your views, the house must be the ultimate safe harbour, and it is for me as well. I just thought that my wife would take this as my biggest selfish act with too much cost. This is why, I think, she would bring it up all the time to my face eventhough she appears to accept it now....I know this pretty well. Few years ago, we had a sort of misunderstanding about an affair, which I didn't have, but she thought I had. I explained her all the details with rigid evidences that I wasn't involved with anything. She still brings this matter up and drives me crazy. As for HT, she finds it absolutely nonsense when we discuss it, and that's why I just didn't feel like taking this extra burden. By the way, how long would it really take for my barber not to realise the scar in the donor area? That was the part I didn't take into consideration. May be I switch barbers for sometime.
