  1. Ron, I had the same question too. Frankly I do not know the answer. I imagine if the donor site comes out in narrower strips, the dissection is easier for the the techs. There might be a problem at the corners if you use the multi bladed scalpel, since it is difficult to change 3-4 lanes to one lane and taper it off at the end. al
  2. hey figsy, what you are describing is exactly what I experienced. The "crunching noise". Bionic man is an accurate description. I think that is why the tissue trauma is minimal and the recovery so fast. thanks again
  3. Dear figsy: Could you tell me if Dr B. used microsurgical scalpel to make the incisions or a stick device. And, was he making the incisions very fast or was going at a slow pace. thank you al
  4. Dear Pdm, I am happy for you that everything went well. I was wondering if you could educate me about stick and place method. I just had 800 FU done 2 weeks ago, and the surgeon used a BLADE, and the incision were made very fast, But, I was watching the discovery channel on Sunday on HT, and Dr B. was using something like a stick which made a clear circular impression on the scalp, and hence lots of scabs and possible swellingbecause of tissue trauma post op. In addition, he was making the incisions at a much slower pace than my doc. I barely formed any scabs and no swelling at all. I dont think the final result is any different. But am curious to find out more about pro's and Con's of each technique. Thank you, al
  5. Thanks for your response cliff, Yes, i just had 800 done at Bosely, mostly to build the fromtal density, behind my original hairline. Although I was satisfied with their work, I am reaching the conclusion that for an aesthetically demanding jon like building the hair line, some of the other surgeons would do a much better job and at amuch more reasonable price. I was given steroids and did not have any swelling whatsoever. Giving anti-inflammatory medications prior to the procedure does not seem to be the norm, and I was trying to see if there is an actual benefit to that. And, I know that I will need more procedures as the hair loss progresses in the future. Sincerely, al
  6. Hi PA, I am glad you are pleased with Dr Rose. I just had 800 FU HT done, and contemplating a future procedure with Dr Shapiro. In the meantime am trying to educate myself as much as I can. Could you tell me if you had any swelling after the procedure, if you were given any steroid anti-iflammatory medications prior to the surgery. Where was the location of your previous scar that was included in the recent harvesting? If the entire scar was removed? Did Dr Rose insert the grafts himself, or he was assisted by his technicians. Do you think it is important for the grafts to be inserted by hte surgeon, or the insertion part does not require much artistic skills. And lastly, do you have any opinions about Dr Brandy. Thank you, al
  7. Good for you cliff. I have heard only good things about dr Shapiro as well. I was wondering if you had any swelling from the procedure. Could you let me know if you were given any methylprednisone tablets prior to the procedure and also afterwards. I am trying to find out if there is an association between steroids and improvement in HT post op swelling. Thank you, al
  8. Hi, This is in response to your questions regarding <1000 HT. I just had 800 done. Please read my experience under bosley, chicago posted few days ago. And, let me know if you have any questions. good luck
