  1. Middleson: I went into this thing pretty blind and chose a HC for Men (OOPS) office in Houston (Dr McLellan 1750 GRafts). I definitely think that I would have been better off had I known about the info on this site and researched a bit more but...I can't do anything about it now Based on what I have read, I think that I needed to get more grafts from my surgery to cover the area. WIll wait and see what happens in another 12 months. As for the transplanted hairs vs. new growth....In my case, most of my transplanted hairs are gone. THe growth I am referring to is a bunch of long wispy hairs popping up in a random spots. I have a bunch of in-grown acne type blemishes that come up each day and go away as the hair breaks through. As for the pictures...I am trying but getting my digital to get focused while I take my own picture; it is a task I have not mastered. TomA: I have been taking PRopecia for about 5 months. I had a bunch of shedding that just now seems to have leveled out. I have less hair now than when I started!! No Minoxidil for me.
  2. I have been a semi-faithful reader of the posts on this site. I had my HT done on the 6th of March 1750 grafts to the front sides. While there are some concerns I have about my choice of Dr and number of grafts, I am shocked to have seen the results thus far. I was fully expecting nothing at all until about the 4 month mark and to my surprise...I started getting the in-grown hairs and resulting hair growth starting at the 8 week mark. It has been pretty steady in the last few weeks and the growth is even noticable from a short distance now. Is this unusual or did I just have conservative expectations from some of the slower growth cases on this site?

  4. Elastic... I was freaking out too. Prior to my HT I wanted to get on Propecia to stabilize before the surgery. My hair started falling out way more aggressively than its natural pace. I found it to be a bit disconcerting and now am hoping that it starts to recover itself soon. I was definitely comforted by others on the site experiencing the same thing. It's been about 3-4 months and it seems to have slowed down quite a bit. Just waiting for the reverse effect of the Propecia and my HT to grow.
  5. Any opinions/experience with the difference in the regrowth of shock loss hair vs. a shedded graft? Does the shock loss hair take the same resting period (3-4 months) as a transplanted follicle. By the way...thanks for all of the great info. Some of you are really attentive to the concerns of people like me and the information is very valuable.
  6. Mine started falling out in week two and are almost all gone (90%) now ...which is week 5
  7. Thanks for the replies gents. All good info. My biggest concern was the number of grafts that were HT on me seemed relatively low compared to the rest of the group on the forum. I hate the thought that I may have created a problem here but only time will tell. I am no more than a NW3 so hopefully the 1750 will cover nicely. I was in on a two patient day for the Dr. I will post some pics when I return from my bus trip on Fri.
  8. I am new to the site as I just found it a few days prior to my HT (3-6-07). I was going through all kinds of emotions reading the posts and the warnings. I guess now that I have had the surgery, I have a few questions I would love to have answered if any of you can shed any light. I had 1750 FU done on the front sides only. After reading many warning signs from the posts....I was concerned that I did not choose a hack surgeon. I found him (Dr. McClellan) ironically at the Hair Club in Houston. HT is one of the solutions they offer and the only one they talked to me about. He seemed to be right in tune with all of the things you all suggest are good practices here on the forum....correct Post-Op care, shampoo routines, expectations and warnings, etc... My main question is.... above and beyond these things listed above which I am comfortable with, what is the difference between a good surgeon and a bad one? WHat should I be worried about now? (doesn't do me much good after the fact but I would like to know) Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks...
