  1. elshugh, How's it going mate Im exactly 3 months on the 17th also but am in a different situation. Proof of what Smoothy, Afty and Robert etc have been saying, everyone is different and everybody reacts in its own way. I had 2141 grafts in the front half of my head, take propecia, 3k msm and silica tablets daily, stuff my face with vegetables and cycle/ lift weights to move the blood around and stay fit and have had a very noticable hairline return in 2 1/2 months. Im very suprised how quickly (relativly) my post HT hair has grown back and my situation is quite different to the majority from what ive read. I have a very similar routine to most but one thing I know ive done is focused alot of my energy on remaining positive in this very nervous time and for some reason it has helped me. Im not saying any of this to sound like a smart arse, not at all as I like everyone on the forum is in the same Fu***d Up situation with this hairloss thing, but I really think positive thinking and for that matter, trying not to think about it has helped me relax and be stress free about the waiting period. Whether this is useful or not im not sure but I hope so. Hang in there mate, soon enough you will see the results. By the way, who did your procedure? Best of Luck qvarnis
  2. Hi Guys, Great thread, while were all here I wanted to pose a seperate question to you all. my understanding is that we have around 5-6k of FU's available from strip. If you use those can you then utilise the rest of the donor are by using FUE? Does FUE buy you more grafts? It seems FUE is gaining popularity both for mega sessions and also scar reduction. What are your thoughts. qvarnis PS. Gill that invite sounds great, bit far away in Australia, damn, we need a convention organised.
  3. Imagine the depth and complexity of conversation if we all got together one day and ate and drank. Excellent. I belive out of all the different posts that occur on the forum that these types are the most benefitial, especially for those who have been where we have. Nice one guys qvarnis
  4. Ok. So it's good for blood flow and im guessing it increases blood flow to hair follicles right? Is that the idea? Other benefits sound good too qvarnis
  5. Robert great post mate, weve all been or are there at one stage. Tell you what though, if you can get through that stage and realise what you have detailed in your post your much better off for it. Its a slap in the face from yourself when you realise how much you have been putting off or hiding from. Once its over though its a great feeling, your appreciation of life changes for the better. And as we know, if you dont want to lose the hair you dont have to... qvarnis
  6. The Guy at the end "you think this is going to make life happen" is right.... but id still like to kick his ass for for being a smart one (smartass that is)... As you said Robert... Priceless (and their proud too, we can only hope to be so brave ) q
  7. Corey and BH, GratefullHead is on the case, after my first HT I was hating life as you do when you dont see results. However I realised sitting around and thinking negativly about it was not going to do anything. So I bought a new competition spec mountain bike and started practising with the aim to eventually compete in some ametuer downhill events. Since then my fitness has improved beyond belief and Im way better off for it. I also started learning about computers and getting back into a regular gym routine. My point being, you cant let it stop you enjoying you life! Its been said on the forum lots and its true, losing hair has to be put in perspective, Its wrong and pisses us all off to the max, but it can be fixed and its realy just a matter of time. Im 2 months post op to the day and can only just see the white whispy one's about 1 or 2 mil long, dont worry mate it will happen. Someone mentioned on a recent post (sorry i cant remember who) a comment that was spot on 'try not to look at your HT everyday and it will happen sooner' I know its hard not too but it works for me. Sorry, one more thing, Its kind of like building lego i guess... the build time and the wait (and frustration when you cant find the pieces) are what make the end result (a lego spaceship) so cool. Okay ive talked shit for too long. Cheers qvarnis
  8. gillenator/joe ht How's it going, that being the case (fue from the sides) is it reasonable to assume we all should be able to extract at least 5000+ grafts. Reason I mention 5k is some of the best HT's I have seen have had around this many + grafts extracted. Take for instance Futzy, from what ive seen of his pics he was pretty much out of hair and then achieved a total coverage with excellent density + he made a good chice of surgeon who got the most out of what grafts were available. Many of the other pics on this site and others show excellent results. My point being is 5k a magical mark to aim for? I know you need to take hair shaft thickness into account. What do you guys think? qvarnis
  9. Hi Guys, This thread is sorted, some great comments, Ive just had a bizzare thought though. The biggest issue we face (or eventually will) is lack of doner hair. Has anyone discussed the use of doner hair from a sibling. Sounds a bit wierd but would it be fair to assume your brother's hair would grow if transplanted it (assuming you paid him enough to give it up) Failing that, why cant HT surgeons take a strip from each side of your head and not the back. Ive had almost 2800 removed in total and can feel the difference in the back of my head but the sides still have a heap of hair. Alot more than the back. Any thoughts? qvarnis
  10. Hi Guys, (As you know) Im reletivly new to the forums. I agree a heap of questions get asked many times over, I know cause I have asked them. I Must say though, when I discovered this site I was relieved to find all the info I needed but more importantly love the fact I can 'Chat' with people who know what's going on. Its cool to come home from work, switch on to the forum and see you guys have taken an interest in my questions and given up your time to respond to questions you've all answered a heap of times. All im trying to say is I and many other 'newies' appreciate the support. Anyway, quick update, 7 weeks post (2145 Dr White (Australia)) a heap of whispy white hairs starting to pop through, finally starting to relax, all looks good so far.... Cheers qvarnis
  11. No photo's as yet. I forgot to take some pre op so have nothing to compare with, I may go and get some from the doc. Actually, I will and then post some @ 3 months. Giid Luck
  12. Hi Guys, I took in a photo of when I was 21 and said to the doc, see this photo.... please copy this. Im at 6 weeks post op so alot of it has shed and in rest phase but just after the op it looked excellent. One thing I noticed is it is probably about 0.5 cm higher when I compared it to my phot around the temples so im hoping its going to still look good when im older (27 at the moment). If not I may look a little bizzare but look, to be honest ill just be happy to have it. My point... take in a photo of when you looked your best and think a few years ahead. Like everyone has said a good surgeon should be able to make the correct suggestions. qvarnis
  13. Hi jr, I know that dutasteride attacks or should I say blocks both type's 1& 2, when I had my 1st HT in London it was available and I was offered access to it by the HT company (Wellsbourne) but stuck with propecia. I too have heard of much more severe side effects so I though stick with what you know. Apparently it woks well on the front and mid-scalp but mine's already out of there and im waiting on my 2141 recent grafts (6 weeks old) to kick in so why bother. Id rather not take any medication and have a Futzy type result and then not have to worry. qvarnis
  14. Robert, Yeah your probably right I should wash it more, ive seen Nizoral mentioned on here before and have looked around in Australia for but have had no luck. Do you have any idea where I might order it online? qvarnis
  15. Robert, Cheers for that, I suspected there would not be a simple answer for that question, the info you provided definitly makes sense though. Your final point on the benefits of excercise is very important and I agree completly. In between posting that question (ie today) I came across an article in a workout/training magazine that spoke about guys on anabolic steroids and how studies have shown an increase in chance of the balding process speeding up as a side effect. Which kind of makes sense, unfortunatly there was no mention of the effect of non steroid/normal workout effect on test levels of increase in chance of hairloss. Slightly off the topic but a question I wanted to ask. Personally I only wash my hair once a week (a bit gross I know but it stays pretty clean). Now they say you are meant to lose 50-100 hairs a day. I reakon when I wash it I maybe lose 100 - 150 hairs (yes ive tried counting and its somewhere around that figure) and maybe (that I caount) 10 a day (from the top). How often is it recommended to wash your hair? Do you think this is a positive or negative, ie would washing more often build more strength into the hair etc? Bizzare question I know but something I was curious about. Cheers qvarnis
  16. Hi Everyone, A question I forgot to put up in my last post. Im sure alot of us work out/lift weights etc, I was wondering what effect this would have on hairloss. What I do know is that when you workout and are trying to increase your muscle mass your body produces more testosterone to aid this process, my guess is that allows more to be converted to the bad stuff (couldnt remember the name.. hang on (i looked on my propecia box) dihydrotestosterone DHT). So if more is available more will be converted? Im not sure of the answer... does anyone know? qvarnis

  19. Hi Guys Hope everyone is all good. As I said previously (the Dr White & Parable Story) I would give an ongoing update of my HT from Dr White and NHI in Melbourne. At this stage all the hairs that hung around are 4-6 mm long and getting longer daily. I can see quite a few new hairs popping through (about 1 - 2 mm long at most) which is always encouraging, alot of these are along the hairline which still looks very good to me. If the usual % of hairs grow then the hairline should look great. There is no ridging to speak of along my scar (my last post it was 1 mm high at most and none on the sides). Dont get me wrong I know its there, its still a little pinkish but it looks good. Over time I think it will be quite hard to see. SO there you go all looks good but as ive said before it dosent really mean shit until I see it all growing through. Regime: Propecia daily Rogaine 1ml (once daily) 3g MSM daily Silica tablets (2 a day) Cant say for sure if the MSM and Silica are doing anything to my hair yet but my fingernails are growing at an increased rate thats for sure. Couple of questions 1. What are peoples veiws on when propecia should start making a difference and how have you known it is working, (ive been on it for about 14 months but I had a 4 month break in the middle, do you think that would slow down my success with it?) 2. Whats are your experiences with Nizoril, is this worth it? Have a good one Cheers qvarnis

  21. Hi Rocky, How's it going mate. I got the MSM from National Pharmacies which is a chemist chain in Adelaide. Im guessing their not on the east coast so I have the brand details; Brand: Nature's Own MSM Description: Green transparent bottle with yellow label and red writing. Good work with the Dr Knudsen choice, Ive heard good things as well. Everything well here, starting to see new hairs poping through along my hairline.. always exciting. I think Dr White should sack his Sydney sales guy, Ive also heard some wrong things about the office there. Hope you find the MSM Cheers qvarnis
  22. No Worries, Found the MSM and National Pharmacies in Australia, was also told previously that Silica tablets are a way of providing nutrients to your hair and nails for speedy growth. Anyone have any info on that? Got the MSM in the crystal form, is this the way to go? qvarnis
  23. Hi Robert How's it going, Im wondering if you are aware of some sort of resolution to the DR White/~Parable~ experience, Ive put up a new discussion detailing my experience-have a read if you can. Ive read the whole story but it just seems to end on Feb 12th 2004... Any idea's qvarnis
  24. Hi Everyone, Ive just read the Parable/Dr White story, interesting, Parable I have to say I agree with your right to repair or refund. Whilst I have no doubt (and others agree) that your hair would look better longer, the pictures dont lie, there is no excuse for the side with the bruised/purple look or the scar. There is a guy I have seen in a job a few years ago that has a similar sized scar and its quite obvious (dont know where he got it done). As I was saying previously I am about a month down the post op track from NHI and cant as yet complain about anything. I received the customer service you would expect-no worries there. The result since has been very similar to a smaller proceedure I had 12 months previous in the UK from which I had results I expected (620 grafts). Had to get more done because the first proceedure didnt take into acount any future loss and only had a limited amount of cash. Anyway, I must admit when I found out the techs were going to do all the work I was a little disappointed (but this happened in the UK anyway). My sacr is 2mm at the most and is still red but not visible as my hair easily covers it (my hair on back about 12 - 15mm long over the scar, basically no one would know). There is only a very slight bump/ridge on each side of my head but i can feel a ridge on the back but I think it would only be 1 mm high at the most (Ive been checking while Ive been writing). In terms of coverage there was 2141 grafts. in the front - just less than a third of my head. There is some pics of the guy (futzyhead) on the regrow site that my result looked and does look at the same stages except my transplant dosent go back as far as his. Ive looked at those and heaps of other pics on the net and I have no reason (at this stage) to be unhappy, i could see that the density of the grafts was quite good and my front hairline was recreated very close to how it originally was (I took in a photo and said this was my hairline, please fix it). My hairline was irregular and the works appears to have replicated it very well. However, I am aware that none of what ive said really means shit because I wont know exactly how it will look (or close too) for another 5 months (my hair from the first grew quite fast and was about 1 1\2 to 2 inches long at the 6 month mark). Also to give all the info, my hair is medium to dark brown (has some red left over from when I was young) and is quite thick hair, when I had a full head it was very strong and thick hair and it grows very fast (once amonth haircuts), also I had alot of it (less now ). So look, here's the deal, weve all seen what ~Parable's~ hair looked like. I will let mine grow for a few months and then post some pre op and say 5 month photos and then some 7 month. ~Parable~ mate I think the scar is unacceptable and I would be as pissed off, I dont know if its been resolved or what but my opinion is that the story would have done some damage and had I have read all this before probably would have flown to the States and investigated some of the Doc's you guys all recommend. (for your info I had researched hair transplants for the last 1 1\2 years (I found out about it in New York and went to a seminar there) and seen many pics of results) So far all is well here but I will keep giving updates. Best of luck to all of us.. Hope that clone technology goes well so everyone in the future can have the choice. Sometimes you have to ask 'what the.... is the problem with going bald, but the hair loss thing definatly messes with your head.. Anyway, ive been writing this for about too long, Take it easy.. qvarnis
