  1. Im going thru the same exact thing..my first procedure...grew back right away..this time around ,im at 6 weeks and ive got smoothness on the scar and on top and bottom...left side of my head..right behind the temple,,,feels and looks like a bald spot,,and im worried its because the scalp was kind of tight...i just sent some pics over to dr hasson to see what his take is on it...dont think im gonna be able to stomach another one of these things...the time and waiting involved is just to long...my hair on the sides,,,werent cut that short or shaved....just the recipient area...so the hair on the sides has grown in but now you can see this line going around both sides of my freakin head.....now i gotta wear a bandana around me for the next year???,,,this really does suck...i dont want to post pics cause im sick of lookin at myself and in the mirror....
  2. sorry,,depakote is a drug for bipolar and side effects can be hair loss..in some people but dont know if thats the problem age...i dont know..why it would thin so dramatically in such a short period of time thanx A
  3. i can seem to get it done on the website im really distraught after so much time has gone by since my surgery..my hair is thinning like crazy..i dont know whats going on...im on prpocia and was on a medication called depakote then i stopped like 3 weeks ago//i noticed my hair has gone from pretty darn good to a nightmare send me an email...slatemonster2002@yahoo.com andrew--shmutzdawg
  4. all seemed okay 7 months ago..was getting nice and thick ' now its starting to thin like crazy on top..from the front to the back..its awful..i just sent my doctor an email and pictures..i was taking a medication called depakote they say can lead to hair loss, so i stopped... any help would be appreciated..WHY WONT IT LET ME POST NUMEROUS PICTURES
  5. I wanted to let the forum know after posting some concerns a few months back after 7 months post op..that my hair growth and fullness have been improving tremendously. I am now going into my ninth month and can honestly say that the fullness is getting better as is the hairline. I had received 3800 grafts in one session. I had next to nothing in shock loss. And the hair started to grow in, around the 3rd month. So there was no delay in that..because of the severity of loss for me in the front as opposed to the native hairs still intact, which by the way is a very full head of hair.. In order to really achieve the fullness and thickness I desire, A second session with Dr Jeff was discussed. I know you can only do and achieve so much in one session. Anyway,,just wanted to let all know how things were progressing. Please do not hesitate to write me or ask me if you have any concerns about dr Jeff Epstein..Also,any of you may ask Bill who has my before and after pics to see what my outcome is and how I am progressing.. So Bill if your reading..its okay to share my before and after pics with the gang,,Just not the facial pics i sent you from back in the 80s with the big head of hair.. Thanks all Shmutzydawg
  6. said its a botanical alternative..i have no clue and wanted to know if anyone has even tried it. im gonna start propecia soon next few weeks thanx all shmutzy
  7. hi guys. im gonna have to get you some detailed pics so you can see what is going on..cant imagine dr epstein would use an old method.. but i will tell you that i can tell right now that the corners wher hairline meets the existing sides is lacking in any thickness and smooth transition.. i remember during procedure having to ask to bring the corners down to meet up with the sides so it wouldnt look like a straight line across the hairline..so what im seeing is some hairs, but not nearly enuff to make it all blend in together nicely,,thus my thoughts of having to do another go round so it all looks nice and uniform..like i said,,i will have to get u guys some pics just so you can see and make a more objective comment..hard to do by me just talking and trying to explain..will do the pics soon thanx again all shmutzy
  8. okay smoothy..will wait and also check outron shapiro...btw,,i can tell you that after 7 months..the hairs tat came in a re pretty thick and course,,as my hair all around is pretty thick and course..what i am tryin to say, is that what i think is going on, is that the back hairs when snipped right before the procedure, are really no indicaton of what my hairs will really look like and how they twist and bend as they get longer..so thats what is kinda going on in front right now...and even though it is filling in..there doesnt seem to be a smooth transition into the side areas..also the thickness of the sides seem to outweigh the front as my hair grows longer...which translates into..having what i would call a weak spot bewteen where the existing side hairs stop and the transplanted hairs begin...get my drift...? and i can tell you..there doesnt seem to be any new hair growth except for what has already came in..my hair came in pretty darn quick from what ive read here...and yes,,i have done alot of reading on this site prior to doing my procedure. i will wait however, and follow up with dr epstein in a few more months as i approach months 9-10..and i will deff consider your recommendaton with ron shapiro thanx again all and i will post pics soon shmutzy
  9. okay, fair enough--will chill and wait until 9 months and then some..i contacted dr epsteins office a few months ago and they suggested waiting until at least 9 monnths before seeing him..so that is what i will do..but i can tell,,that for what i want,, i would like to see my hairline a tad lower and blend into the sides better.... i can tell there is not enough hair in those places. but ill be patient,,,no hurry really..and what is there so far is not looking all that bad one more procedure might really do the trick..and i did talk to dr. epstein about post -op thanx all for your concerns and replys and as soon as my new ubs cord arrives,,will snap some pics of before and after..do not have immediate post op pics unfortunately talk soon shmutz
  10. Had the procedure done back about 7 months ago with dr. epstein. Although all went incredibly smooth the results were mediocre.I needed mostly hair on the left and right frontals while some in the middle font was planted with a new hairline. what they didnt do is pay attention to the back hairs to be removed at the time. So now what has grown in seems like a complete free for all of transplanted hairs going in different directions. Because the donor hair they too was pretty course and wavey and they didnt follow the sam e direction they flowed when they put them next to one another in the front..why do you think they would do such a thing?? Now, even though I have some hairs which dont even seem as thick as they promised. Im going to have to start to plan on one more surgery. to make the hairline a lil lower and hopefully more natural looking with more density. i think the man for this would be dr feller, who is close to where i live. i also think from what ive read about him, he could get me optimal results. id like o use dr epstein, but i dont think his staff realy paid much attention to this factor. of my hair being really course and wavey..the problem is, when the hair is short, its hard to tell hoe wild its going to get when its longer..and thats just what my hair in the back can do..do you think next time my hair should be grown long in the back and sides to really see how the hairs will grow and in what direction?? also dr feller does something called densely packed with like 5000 grafts..thats my next goal.... the first go round was 3800, which i really thought would do the trick.. right now im afraid as the hairs get longer, they are going to make my frontal fuzzy and wild in the frontal's. id say the new hairs are now about 1 3/4 " any opinions?, any other surgeons you could recommend would be helpful. thanx shmutzydawg
  11. thanx for the quick answers will keep you posted as to results etc happy new year shmutzydawg
  12. Hey Bill, How goes it buddy? So i decided to proceed with dr.epstein in february. Nervous as all hell hes gonna do about 3000 grafts. mostly frontal,300 around crown. I guess im real nervous about the shock loss of native hairs. Can it be very extreme? Like will my frontal hairs all fall out?.When and if do they grow back.Id hate to lose any native hairs Dr. epstein seems to feel confident that they won't fall out. im nervous about this but want to to do it. also what is best..the aloe for scabs.and will they come off automatically and after how many weeks? thanx bro shmutzydawg
  13. okay,,thanx for the great advice...will try and make a sensible choice talk soon shmutzydawg
  14. thanx for the info franklin...it does get a bit overwhelming at times...and yes, it's getting to the point of what decision to make as far as procedure and the right doctor..i even read that some meds like propecia and finasteride may not even help long term and long term side effects are not well documented. yet,, some of the top doctors ive spoken with, say i should start taking finasteride..seems there are so many, if not to many options, depending on who you talk to from the people here to the doctors.. so i find myself stuck and not being able to do anything.. i do have upcoming consults with dr. jeffrey epstein and dr. feller..maybe that will help me to go forward with it....already saw dr. bernstein.. but we never had a lengthy discussion as to the positves and negatives of any of these topics....it made me feel like,, okay, you want to fill in the hairline, no problem..and that was pretty much it...even though i read and hear great things about him.. anyway,, want to thank you and all for your helpfullness and replys.. any more info from anyone and all is always greatly appreciated best shmutzydawg
  15. thanx calv for the info, i guess then the best way to go is to do the strip and not fue..really dont want to lose thickness in the back either..i guess the entire process is gonna be a trade off regardless what you do....i havent seen dr epstein yet, but after talking with the office..they told me he does use a process whereby his receiving area is done so microscopicly that he does not require to shave the area but would just cut the hair short..geez ,if they only figured out already how to clone ones hair. thanx for the quick response and we'll se what Bill has to say... shmutzydawg
  16. Hey Bill, I have two appointments in the coming weeks. One with Dr. Jeffrey Epstein and one with Dr. Feller. If you could enlighten me a bit more with the FUE procedure, I would greatly appreciate it. I saw that pic by the way of that guy from the UK who wnet to see Dr. Feller a few times and it looked fabulous. I think what I'm confused about is: When you do FUE and they dont slice the scalp. Doesnt taking those hairs out from the donor areas cause you to have thinner areas in the back or sides? As opposed to the strip method that closes up the area, thus compensating for hair that was removed? With the FUE, wouldn't those hairs that were removed not be able to grow back?..Thanx again for any tips or info..I really need to start a procedure soon and get on meds etc..I think i'd also like to stay locally in new york. not fly out to vancouver to see dr. hasson..even though i see and hear great things about him.. But Dr. Epstein and Feller look like they do some amazing work. Thanx bro, Shmutzydawg

  18. When I said cancelation, let me point out that it wasnt that day. i meant like in a week or so
  19. Hey Bill, The prescription actually says Finasteride 5 mg #100 1/4 tab p.o. daily So what do make of that?.. Ya know when i talked to Dr. Berstein, as nice as he was and I know he has a great reputation. There were still alot of unanswered questions. I feel like I'm getting more help from you and this forum. Even the people that worked there make it seem like it's a cakewalk. They never got into stuff like, shock loss, shaving the area possibly, how long to take meds before surgery, etc.It was obviusly consultation day at the office, and I don't know if it was like, rush rush or what.. When I was there, they had a cancelation and asked if i would like to fill the spot.. As much as i want to do this and just get it over, I don't want to make any huge mistakes either...I guess that's why we're here Regards Shmutzydawg
  20. From what you've heard and seen. How much hair growth can one obtain from taking meds?...Or is it more like, Just be happy with maintaining what is left? My problem and mostly frontal with a bit in back..Plent of donor hair as Dr. Berstein said, "You have a nest back there." Which is a good thing Thanx Shmutzydawg
  21. Great,,thanx for the help.Answer's alot of questions....what do make then of Dr. Bernstein giving me Finasteride script and saying only use a quarter a day?..Also, are places in Canada a viable source for getting the meds to save some money?..My script was like 300.00 for the year..Canada was alot less..I am on my way in a month to see Dr. Feller, see what he has to say...Hasson, don't know when, but I'd really like to see him..Guess shaving would be the way to go.It does make alot of sense Thanx again and again Shmutzydawg
  22. Hey Bro, Thanx for all the great answers and time you put in to this forum. Was wondering, I got a prescription from Dr. Bernstein in New York for Finasteride. To take a 4th of a pill a day, I've read so many bad things about the side effects, that it's been four months now and I still haven't filled the script. I was considering an HT with either Bernstein, Feller[scheuled to see] and now I'd like to go see your guy Hasson. I mean, what do you do? I've read that taking this stuff can also help shock loss etc. But what if you don't take the meds? Also, Is the consensus to shave the receiving area? And how long till the new hairs start to grow? I've read 3-4 months...I assume the older hairs will keep growing asap. Will these meds also help future thinning? Alot to ask, But always appreciate any insight and knowledge that you have Thanx again Shmutzydawg
