  1. Thank you doctor, that is exactly what i was looking for. I will leave it as is. I've been moistening my donor area as well as graft site with saline solution per my doctors recommendation as she told me keeping things moist accelerates the healing. I guess I shall just continue this for the first 2 weeks! Thanks again
  2. Interesting indeed. Thanks for both of your inputs. With my 2400 grafts in the front half / front 1/3 of my head, i just want to make sure that if i continue with future transplants i will have enough donor hair to provide adequate coverage. Oh and Bill, even though you say urs is a bit thin, man your head looks amazing. Even Bobman's head looks great. I'm willing for as many surgeries as I can get out of my donor area for whatever maximum density it will allow. The purpose of this post was just to get a feel of what to expect and whether its practical. Bill, did they take your strips from underneath or above each time you had another strip removed then re-overlap the skin? im confused on how future HT donor strips work.
  3. I think its ok to ask the doctor their flexibility when it comes to prices and all. When I went in for a consultation with my dr, i asked about her fees, how she charges, and im doing so she said she offers a $500 travel voucher for out of state travelers, as well as cheaper pricing for the more grafts you get. All in all, 2100+ grafts cost me about 3.50 a graft plus a $500 off voucher. Definately doesn't hurt to ask, but then again, I was not pushy in any way because such a practice merits hard work and skill and trying to weasel greater discounts imo can be quite insulting
  4. Hi, What did your doctors tell you to do regarding your donor scars? Mine said to leave it alone for about 7 days, then if i wanted, begin any topical cream treatment (neosporin, medirma, etc) that i wanted. I am just curious what the best route is to start the healing process. Should i wait until the sutures are out?

  6. Have you been doing scalp exercises daily? I hear it helps and wish I did more of them when i went in. Congrats
  7. Hi All, First I'd like to say thanks to everyone on here being so supportive. This website is truly an asset I think we can all appreciate. Second, I had a question regarding future HT's. Now, I just had my first HT with Dr. Keene in which she extracted ~2400 grafts to go into my hairline. She aimed for a 25-30 density goal, and doing so she cut out a donor section from nearly ear to ear. I was told I have a good donor density, but how practical is it to expect an additional 5000 grafts from my donor region for future transplants. Now i know this is hard to determine without picture, but is around 8000 TOTAL donor grafts within reason for someone like me with medium density hair? My recent HT was to rebuild and bring down my hairline, but without a for sure knowledge of exact remaining donor density, I chose a 25-30 density packing. Is this reasonable, and what am I looking at as far as what to expect once the hair grows in (density)? Thanks all

  9. Thanks Bill! You amongst many other members of this forum have given me the inspiration to continue with this transplant. It brings a smile to my face to know other people feel the same way as me when it comes to hair loss and how it affects us. Its never been an easy subject to discuss normally, but i feel people here are always extremely supportive which is amazing. I will consider another transplant around 9 months, but if i feel my laxity has not returned completely, i will take your advice and wait longer. besides scalp exercises, is there anything I can do to help increase donor area/grafts? For a 2nd transplant? How long did you do scalp exercises for Facl?
  10. Hi All, Long time reader, first time poster. I just had my first HT done by Dr. Keene here in Tucson Az. I have been baldind since i was about 18 years old, and am now 23. I have diffuse thinning all on top and front of my head. Without any concealers, you could easily tell i was a hop/skip away from I guess a NW5, but i did have some hair remaining to help cover it. When i used concealers you couldn't tell quite as much how bad i was thinning. I finally decided to make an appointment after doing much research, and found dr. keene to be a great candidate for the surgeon. She was about 12 hrs driving distance from me, and her prices were very affordable, and offered me a $500 travel voucher to my suprise. Her assistants were all very kind and everyoen was so helpful. I arrived tuesday and had the procedure wednesday. Took from 9am to about 5:30 pm and had my gf pick me up when i was done. I had paid for 2100 grafts but she ended up moving my hairline and temple sides down a little putting me up to about 2400-2500 grafts. Now I have a few concerns for post op. 1.) Dr keene prescribed Propoxyphene-N 100 With APAP for pain, and its not doing a darn thing. I have a high tolerence for pain, but for my 2500 grafts (and medium density hair) she had to cut a wide donor area. Now should i request other pain meds? What kinda pain medication did you guys take, as the one im using isn't cutting it and i know how important the pain meds are to prevent bleeding/swelling and aid in recovery. 2.) the 2500 grafts were from my hairline to just about mid scalp region. How long until i can start surgery number 2 to begin working on my mid region and back. I know i dont have teh greatest donor supply, but as long as i continue my medication, I should be sufficient right? I only had my camera phone for pictures, but i will post them up later for any thoughts u guys might have. It's great to have a forum like this, and I welcome meeting all of you! Thanks Chris
