  1. Cell Injection Theropy?? is this hair cloning? cos i see some posts about people having this done but i thought its still a long time off? Am i not getting something here?
  2. My first consultation was about a year ago now where he basically told me stay on meds and get stable. Ive been on meds (proscar and minox) for about 2.5 years now and have found i am farely stable but with some sides. after my second consultation (6 months ago) he told me stay on meds so he could track my progress as id been on them before i met with him. I just had my third consultation and he says the following.... Try cutting down to a quater pill every second day and we'll see if im still stable in 3-6 months. He said my donor is average to good and i am a possible candidate for a small procedure all tho he thinks i wouldnt need one for a while yet. He did stress about young patients and all the risks and i also asked about hair cloning and he said he meets with the people who are doing it in one month to see results at some big meeting. Is there somewhere on this site i could start my own diary or on-going blog. Im farely good on computers so a rough outline of how is all id need. Cheers

  4. So many people give advice not to get hair transplants for younger patients etc because of bad experiences but the thing is... Every single story ive heard about regret or procedures going bad are from guys who had transplants in the past where it was done with plugs or other old procedures. I understand that ALOT of caution should still be taken but With a donor area these days being completely harvested with the best tecniques available from the best surgeons can you really go wrong if a well made plan is made. If money isnt an issue to one. (money is very hard to come by i kno) but in the long run i am allready a qualified tradesman and kno that $40,000 over my life time is really nothing to me for what it could do. Than what else? I just dont get that all the bad wraps HT's get for young patients are from people who have wasted alot of grafts on old bad procedures. Chime in but im just trying to see not only the bad points but also the good points for young HT'ers!

  6. Read the last paragragh. It says that the data will be available september this year. Might be old news i dunno??? The ICX-TRC procedure A small sample of hair follicles is taken from the patient during a simple 30 minute operation carried out under local anaesthetic at a hair or skin clinic. The clinic sends the biopsy to Intercytex' GMP compliant manufacturing facility where the DP cells are dissociated from the rest of the follicle. These cells are cultured and expanded in proprietary media over three weeks and subsequently returned to the clinic in a sterile suspension. Using a specialised delivery system, the DP cells are microinjected intradermally into the patient's scalp. The treatment is performed under local anaesthetic and comprises a single procedure of superficial injections, each injection delivering a minute volume of media containing DP cells. These cells are able to stimulate the generation of new hairs when injected in close proximity to the epidermal cells which generate the hair. Following the procedure, new hair growth should become evident after approximately three months. ICX-TRC clinical and commercial development Phase I clinical trials (safety) have been completed in seven volunteers at a single UK transplant centre. No safety issues have arisen and five out of seven patients have shown increased hair numbers. The treatment phase of a Phase II trial, being conducted by Dr Bessam Farjo in Manchester, to optimise the delivery of the DP cells, has been completed. In this study, hair counts were obtained by shaving and photographing a small section of scalp, injecting it and then applying a specialised image analysis system to provide a total hair count. All 19 subjects in the trial have now been treated using a range of injection and scalp pre-stimulation techniques; the first six subjects were injected without stimulation of the scalp. In the remaining 13 the resident hair producing (epithelial) cells were stimulated at the time of delivery of the DP cells. 11 subjects have now passed the 24-week time point since treatment and specialised image analysis at this time point showed: ?· Of the group of six patients without stimulation of the scalp, three had an increased hair count and two had a reduced hair count; one has been lost to follow-up. ?· Of the five subjects with pre-treatment scalp stimulation, all had increased hair count at 12 weeks and the three who were evaluable at 24 weeks all had an increased hair count at that time point. These data are consistent with the earlier data reported last September and the hypothesis that new hair production is improved by pre-stimulation of the scalp, leading to an interaction between the injected cells and the resident hair producing cells. 24 week data on all subjects in the trial will be available in September 2008 and at the end of the trial, photographic data will be analysed from a much larger area of treated scalp on all subjects at 48 weeks.
  7. As the biggest show in the world maybe we can all decide on the perfect amount of grafts george would can could harvest for the perfect HT. Assuming the transplant was done in the later seasons. What does everything he needs for coverage that would look like he had a full head of hair.............

  11. im 22 and my hairloss is pretty stable on the proscar and minox. I will post pics soon but my hair loss to date is a bit receded, more in the temples and only a tiny bit off loss over the whole balding area you would probably never pick the general thinning. I kno its very very early and shouldnt get my hopes up but i look carefully in the mirror and think i can see where my future loss will go to as there is a very distinct line between where it has thinned a little and where the hair is still 100% strong. Again if you saw my head now from birds eye you would never pick i was going bald but from my obsercations it looks like i will eventually go to a 5A... Am i way off on this? im just trying to predict my future loss. If anyone who noticed when they first started goin bald to years later today, is the balding pattern still rather the same?

  13. Ive researched a fare few prices here and had quotes and ive come to the conclusion that american doctors have a way better reputation for example hasson and wong charging $5grafts for first 2000 then $3 for additional grafts. When i decide to get my transplant i honestly think id end up getting a free trip overseas if i go with a doctor in american. Ive been quoted around $8000 for a 1000grafts operation in australia from a few places. I plan to wait till i need a few more so i can get a bigger operation but are there other aussies out there who have saved money by flying over the the U.S? not only are you getting a better surgeon but also a better price and site seeing mind you.
  14. is it possible to transplant hair from my mothers donor area to my bald scalp. Ive allready read up on this but what if you built up your tolerance to there blood cells so they the hairs werent rejected

  18. are there many people out there who just wait to the balding pattern has taken place then gone along with only getting transplants as there balding slowly progress's. Assuming you had enough donor wouldnt this be the best thing to do. (no time spent on medications or money) No worrying either. I understand that medications can slow down the process. Im 22 and think im just gonna start shaving my head. Wait a few years and see what pattern takes shape. Ive been told i have good donor characteritics so i plan on gettin another consultation in a few years when i would be more appropriate for a megasession. thoughts.........?

  20. If i get multiple operations over my life time all done by strip tecnique. Will each operation result in the one scar at the end of multiple procedures? Do only some surgeons do this? and how much does multiple operations limit the donor area putting the actual grafts they take each time aside. This is by using the Trichophytic closure also......

  22. if you were to get a transplant where they put the donor hair into hair that was still half okay in the balding area (but would eventually be gone), would the good hairs that came from the back still last a life time or would they be affected by the left over DHT? DHT being the hormone that kills the hair in the first place.

  24. I had been on proscar for about 2 and a half years and have noticed my libido decrease not long after i started it. Ive now decided to stop taking it and just use rogaine about 1 month ago. How long does it take for libido and correct function to come back. I went to the doctor and he said wait about 3 weeks but wasnt convinced. Id like to hear if anyone else has had this problem and how they resolved it.
