  1. It depends on the thickness of your hair, if I remember right, danger you are balding only in the crown right? I myself was able to use Toppik about 3 weeks after my head was shaved with a blade, bald to the scalp. If you are only balding in the crown your results can be phenomenal with short hair (i'd say down to 1cm).
  2. Can anyone recommend a good hair spray substitute for the fiberhold spray that you get with Toppik? That tiny bottle is like $7. I just tried aqua-net ($1.94 for a huge can of it)on my hair tonight after reading someone else's post on here and it looks good now but I'm wondering if it will have the same long-lasting effect as the fiberhold spray does in holding the Toppik fibers in. Any experience?
  3. Toppik works great on very short hair, in fact, I recommend very short hair. If it gets too long in some cases it's more detectable. The less hair density you have, the shorter your hair should be. I am maybe a norwood 5a and I use Toppik on my top and front and it works great. I have bald temples but thin covering everywhere else up top. I work in a fluoerescent-lighted office and when I look in the mirror in the flouerescent-lit bathroom it really looks great (sometimes I forget I'm going bald). I go from a norwood 5a to a Norwood 2 or 3 in just a few minutes. When light shines on your hair (well mine anyway), it reflects the hairs you have and really brings them to full potential. And no annoying head shine? I had my head shaved to the skin when I started this job and I was able to blend it in as it grew in so that nobody noticed, I can't believe I was able to pull it off! I haven't even noticed a hint of someone knowing about it, or seen anyone looking at my head AT ALL. Also make sure you get the spray along with it, it really helps keep the fibers in your hair during sleep and just basically the everyday touching of your hair. anyone reading this with thin hair owes it to themselves to try this product. I hope this doesn't sound like a commercial because it's not, it's just a great product and I know there are guys out there who can benefit even more than I can from it (especially you crown-baldness-only guys).
  4. Well of course I don't want to shave my head but I'm just so scared that it won't turn out right, know what I mean? As of right now I use Toppik to conceal my thinning because I can't bear to let anyone know I'm balding. Just the idea of that "shaving your head" option being gone just kinda freaks me out (of course, shaving my head freaks me out anyway). I've shaved it twice over the past 2 years and just can't get comfortable with it overall, even after getting both ears pierced with hoops. I just hope Propecia stabilizes my loss. On a good note, I have yet to see a single hair come off on my hands in the shower for 4 weeks now (I think I saw one hair on my desk today at work that may or may not have come from my head, no hair on the pillow either). No sexual side effects at all either, I think my virility has actually increased. My hair is about a half inch long at this point. In case I hadn't mentioned I've been on Propecia for about 4 weeks.
  5. I have a question about FUEs. If they take them from the back of the scalp without strip incision, is there really NO SCARRING. I mean, can you shave your head afterwards without worrying about what your back looks like? I really have no problem with a small strip scar in the back as long as I'm comfortable enough with my hair. I'm more excited about body hair though, I mean, who needs arpit hair anyway (lol)?

  7. Yeah dude Toppik is the way to go for me right now, it saves the embarassment of being bald to an extent. Even the microfine hairs that you can't see without the stuff add to the overall effect. If you have really thin hair just keep it short and it's virtually undetectable. I think it'll buy me enough time to really decide if I want an HT. It's also easier to track my progress with Propecia (because when you shave bald it's very hard to tell if it's working). And there's no way I'm ready to show my baldness at it's current state without shaving my head or using Toppik.
  8. Propecia Propecia Propecia An HT at your stage would be a mistake, get on Propecia and see if your hairloss stops. Also try Toppik, it really works wonders and with your density you'd really benefit.
  9. Hey man I was in hair club for 3 years and it was a love/hate relationship. They try to say they blend hairs with your own but it's just a hairpiece that's usually taped on (they call it a "matrix"). It really can look very good but if your in the throws of passion with a girl there is a distinct possibility you will be found out. I was lucky, no girl ever found out. I would always just try to keep her from trying to run her hands across my hairline from front to back (if you have enough hair around the matrix it's a little harder to find the seam). You see, it can keep you from getting into a relationship with someone because you're scared they will find out. When I had my hair, I was sought after by alot of girls but could never find one I could get close enough to that I was comfortable revealing my secret, and that really sucked. What I do now is, since I still have hair left I use Toppik to fill it in. I also got on Propecia last week. I trid the shaving head thing and was 50/50 on it but I really don't want to go that route, hair is better. I'm also looking at HTs, but not until my hairloss stabilizes or stops hopefully. Hope this helps.
  10. very funny lol. Geez now I wish I hadn't said it. Just threw it out there to see if anyone else was thinking the same thing. My chest just doesn't look like a sweater lol.
  11. geez man no one on this forum gives a crap about reducing body hair, if anything, we would like to have more body hair so it can be moved to our heads!!!
  12. Hey if you have strong hairline and are not completely bald on your vertex use Toppik. I do not have a strong hairline and it works wonders for me. I have a thinning all over my top and this stuff freakin works. You have nothing to lose.
  13. Hello, I think I may have an answer for some of you using Toppik & think it's thinning your hair. When I started using it I would leave it in for a week or so and then washout and reapply, and when I did, I noticed lots of hairs in the shower on my hands as I washed. This led me to believe I was losing more hair. I believe that it was because I never really touched my hair while Toppik was in, so all the hairs that fall out normally would still lay on my head for a week. I noticed that when I shaved my head once and let it grow back in, I would wash my hair every day and there was little to no hair fallout even after it grew to about a half-inch (none on the pillow either), and this was all before I got on Propecia (which I did last week). I'm using it now again and wash my hair more often. I have a new job now and can afford to buy more of it. Hope this helps.
  14. I am 25 years old and have a thinning top and Toppik has worked very well for me. You just have to remember to not use too much and you'll be fine. I can fill in my hairline and wear it to work. I even shaved my head and was able to use it after about 3 weeks of growth by just gradually adding more as my thicker hair grew in.
  15. yeah Dr. Jones in Toronto is also doing body hair transplants, mostly chest hair. Someone asked him about armpit hair and he said he hdan't tried it yet, said he was worried about possible gland issues and odors (lol). I'd volunteer to get armpit hairs, leg hairs, or even...should I say it......pubic hairs. I don't really have enough chest hairs to cover a good area on my scalp. The thing that excites me about it is no scars on your head (if done right) and if it doesn't work you can still shave it all off witout the unsightly strip scar in back.
  16. hello everyone, I am a 25 year old male looking into HTs. I would really like to know what everyone thinks about shock loss. I have thin coverage on my head now with plenty of space in between hairs for a good HT. However, shock loss scares me, I would hate to spend all that money and have my hair look the same if not worse than before. Is shock loss permanent, or will it come back if you are patient? I have just got on Propecia this week and will most likely wait a year before I do anything to see if the Propecia works, and to get as much research done as I can.
  17. hello, I am a 25 year old male who is maybe a Norwood 5a with a thin layer on top. I currently use Toppik and am somewhat happy with it (better than bald). I am a veteran of Hair Club for Men and I'm sure many are very very good at spotting different kinds of cover-ups and treatments. I too can spot a hair system a mile away no matter how good it may look to those who pay no attention, and I've found that Toppik provides a pretty darn good appearance (I can bring myself up to a Norwood 2). I am currently looking into HTs and have just gotten on Propecia. I want to wait until I can see that the Propecia is working before I make any moves. My main question is if any of you who have had an HT currently use Toppik, Derm-Match, etc. and are happy with it? My hair looks about like Bruinman's hair (before transplants) with a little more in the front "penninsula". But of course, in certain lighting, I can really see the difference between my hair and the Toppik, and I feel an HT of maybe 1500-2000 grafts would drastically improve this aspect of my appearance (who knows, maybe just the HT will suffice). I think just having the integrity of a hairline would be enough. Thoughts?
