Well, I would never wear a hat so soon, ya know, it seems like it would be so destructive. I did alot of research and went with a really good doctor and he said that they are almost set for good immediately, but to refrain from washing hair or touching it that day and the next day too (the remainder of the surgery day plus 24 hours). After this you wash by dabbing shampoo and rinse with a cup of cool water....do NOT scrub. You want to wash soon though, wait no longer because you want a clean environment for growth and hygeine. If it gets infected your going to lose them all and be a scarred monster like this: Not sure how we got on washing and hats though.

Same thing happened to me @ 5 weeks. First of all when a hair falls out and has a little bulb, this is normal...the bulb is the root part and means it is a healthy hair that will grow back (you may have noticed that as your hair loss progressed some hairs have little bulbs, meaning they should've fallen out and others are hair with nothing at the end....these are dead and gone). I've found that a HUGE misconception is that ALOT of hair that falls out has dead skin around it. Some bubbles up on your scalp like the graft is pushing itself out, some congregates around the graft and falls out with the hair, looking like a graft(I actually had a chunk of skin with 2 hairs running through it, but it wasn't a graft). At 6 weeks the grafts took. The range I've heard is 7-10 days and they're set. After that for them to fall out, it mostly involves bleeding and ripping them out. I'm noty sure if you saw your grafts before they put them in, but they look like a small grain of rice with 1,2, or 3(if you have a good doctor) hairs sticking out from both ends....not a hair with a little bulb at the end. I was worried sick soooo many times for sooooo many reasons and I'm only at 11 weeks but thought my operation was a failuire so many times when it wasn't. I'll bet your fine.

WHat is the failure rate of HT?
RagingKoala posted a topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
I have been scrolling through and see alot of people saying only 10% survived my 2nd transplant, or one doc gets 90% to survive but another doc is only klike 60%. Is it standard that some HT just doesn't work even if you have a good doctor? -

I was feeling my head and when I pulled my hand away there was a small rice shaped pellet with two hairs through the middle of it!!! I felt around more and came away with another! This was in one sitting, I wonder how many came out when I sleep or am not feeling my head?!?! Is it normal for a few grafts to fall out, especially at 5 weeks? Will more follow?

70% of the hair fell out at week 3 and 4 and now some are coming in for me at week 5 but do you guys have any areas where there is NO hair and it looks like nothing is going on? I do and it makes me nervous. I did the hairline.

How long should one avoid tanning?
RagingKoala replied to RagingKoala's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
I had my hair line done and am going to the beach 6 months post-op...should I cover my head...I want a nice tan and not to worry about my hair. I try not to burn but sometimes I get a little burned...nothing too bad. -
Graft half sticking out?
RagingKoala replied to charlieb's topic in Hair Restoration Questions and Answers
On the left side of my head they all did that. My doc said that the skin was thinner and after all the dead skin fell off they would eventually be flush with my head....and they are. I was very scared though for a week or so. -
How long should one avoid sun tanning?
RagingKoala replied to RagingKoala's topic in Hair Transplant Reviews
I am going on my honeymoon to St. Lucia on Sept. 25....6 months after my transplant. I've been told to stay away from the sun, so I shall, but I'm going to get a tan everywhere else before I go, I'll just keep a bandana on my head or something. BUT does this mean forever? At the beach next year, do I need to keep my hair covered in case I burn or tan the grafts....will this instantly destroy them if I accidentally burn in a year. I like to be in the sun. -

RagingKoala replied to RagingKoala's topic in Open Hair Loss Topics
I had mine 11 days ago and none of it had fallen out yet, as a matter of fact its growing....it looks like I had a buzz cut!?!?! I am fixin' to use Rogaine to try and prolong the hair cycle, but I don't want to irritatae my scalp and cause them to fall out....or do I?!!? Will it fall out at week 2 or something? -

Rogaine says to do it twice a day. However, I noticed it made my scalp itchy and redish. BUT you should get used to it. mY doc says when starting out do it once a day but increase to what the packagae says....then after its built up in your system go back to once a d ay as maintenance. I am abouyt to start it since I just got a transplant. As Roagaine was described to me it doesn't block DHT it simply extends the life of hair folicles. I started losing mine at 19 and got a hairline transplant at 29...to me it looked terrible but no one even the doctor thought it was bad. IOt looks worse to us cause we see it and obsess over it.
