  1. I was wondering what is the big deal if shock loss occurs? I am getting a transplant by Ron Shapiro in January, Im shooting for 3000 grafts, I have hair but it is thin, so I am expecting him to shave it down. So after surgery if some of the native hair falls out due to shock loss shouldnt it grow back in 3 or so months?
  2. I am doing the same thing I use it at night full dose, Ive been only on it for a month
  3. My question is for all the people on this forum that had a follicullar unit hair transplant say in the late 90's compared to the same quality transplant performed now, both done by great surgeons, listed on this forum, would there be any difference the way the transpalnted hair would look.Would both transplants look great. Were the same procedures done for the most part, the same way or were things done a little differently back in say 1999?

  5. I started to use propecia when it was first available in 1998, and I stayed on it till spring of 2004, I have a softball size area of hairloss in my crown, so I gave propecia a shot. Well I went off of it because I wanted to get my wife pregnant and I didnt want to take any chance with propecia, off cousre now I know there is no risk. I had 900 wonderfull micro mini grafts done by MHR in 2002,a yeah I know mistake, and of course I found out about this websight 2 weeks after the surgery, reading all the bashing of MHR Boy did I feel stupid but pretty scared as well, did I just blow $5,000!Talk about panic, but the grafts did grow in and with the use of toppik the crown looked good Well everything was going well except I never went back on propecia I guess I didnt think it was working. Well little by little my top of my head started to thin. I noticed this in spring of 2006, 2 years after going off of propecia. I got a new prescription and went back on it. I am also have been using rogaine foam. Well one of two things happened either the propecia wasnt doing anything and genetics took over my hairloss which i dont think was the case or the propecia was keeping the top of my head intact. I do have a future surgery with Ron Shapiro in Jan of 2008 and SMG was also nice enough to get me a prescription for proscar saving me a lot of money, Guys the finesteride does work even if it lowers your DHT a litte, that can save some of your hair follicles. I wish everyone the best in the battle against MPB.

  7. My question is if you had one prior surgery, and you are going for another surgery do they open the original donor scar or do they create a entire new donor section which would give you another scar?

  9. Does the proscar from inhouse pharmacy look like the little blue tablets im used to seeing. Im just nervous about ordering this because its coming from outside the U.S. The price is awesome $90 a year, Im paying $110 every 4 months whick is $330.00 a year. Anyone that has been ordering the proscar which is called Fincar from India I would love to here if it is the REAL thing
  10. I also after 2 months had drying of my scalp. I was using 5 percent rogaine on my hairline once a day, the itching got unbearable. I stopped for about a month now I am using 2 percent minoxidil. Well see how this works out.
  11. Danger I dont know how much hair you have on your crown, but toppik works wonders. Of course if you are totally bald in the crown toppik wont work. Check out the website www.toppik.com
  12. I believe rogaine and propecia/proscar been out since 1996. Me personally, I have ben on proscar sine summer of 98, and been using rogaine for 4 months. Both drugs only cost me a total of $30 a month. I buy proscar and rogaine on line. If you use rogaine once a day one bottle will last you 2 months. Now with the ht in thw crown which has filled in nicely, I have full head of hair, I feel I owe that to the rogaine and proscar.
  13. I dont have any pictures to show you but I have been using rogaine on my hairline the last 4 months and what a differnce, I have noticed I use it once a day on my hairline. I know one thing if I would of used rogaine when it first came out I feel that I could of avoided my ht in the crown 900 grafts. For all take advantage of the FDA drugs out on th market, a ht is your last alternative .
  14. my itching lasted about 4 months, I am now 7 mos since my HT
  15. I had a hair transplant 7 mos ago in the crown, it is starting to fill in nicely, however MHR did the HT, so how can I tell if these are FU or micro or mini grafts. The transplant looks pretty good in my opinion, but I have a feeling I did not get FU graft. Unfortunately, I found out about this website a week after I got the HT, or I would have gone somewhere else, with a recommended surgeon that does FU only, But I still would like to know if there is a way I can tell if got FU or not. I had 900 grats in the crown only.

  17. I learned one thing from this very informative sight, try to keep the hair you have, in my opinion getting a ht is the last alternative. I am 30 years old and have a good size spot in the back of my head it is not bald but very thin. I did have a ht 900 graft in the back, so hopefully it will thicken up a little. But for all the men and women that have a good amount of hair left and are not totally bald, try to keep what you have, I use rogaine on my hairline, take propecia, and I also take a vitamin for my hair. The rogiane seems like it is working ,and to be honest I am afraid to go off of propecia. Face it rogaine is inexpensive and propecia you can buy for about $40 a month. Dont get me wrong ht do work but they are very expensive, just look at all your options before you get one, try the things that could work and remember the purpose of things like rogaine and propecia is not to grow hair, they really wont do that but if you have say 75% of your hair left these drugs can keep that hair healthy and most important keep it on your head, and hey if they dont work than go for the ht just exhaust all your sources first.

  19. Help, I just had a transplant 6 days ago, the next day I was taking a bath and gently submerged my head under water a couple of times, could I have done any damage to my graphs? On the back of my head I see scabs and white crusty lookin things, when they finally have fallen off, I did notice hairs in them, normal or not Help?
