  1. Hi Jan congratulations on taking your big step, i think you will be very happy in a few months. As for the staples, I don't think you will have a big problem, listen to your drs post-op care instructions and do a search on staple removal on this site and you will get lots of great information. Some posters indicated to soak in a warm bath the day of staple removal and others say have a beer to help relax you. either way I am sure you will gets lots of good advice shortly from the members and good luck!!!! hopefully you will let us see some photos of your progress, tommyf
  2. wicked result, just almost unbelieveably good, Feller is definitely the guy to watch, his results are consistent as allways. Yes I assume it was FUE, but did you have a previous scar from a strip or not, just wondering, if it was revised, etc, great show dude tommf
  3. eman, I found I was getting flaking even below my hairline and assumed it was from the minox, as often the liquid runds down your forhead quite a bit. I can't get the foam in Canada, so have to stick with the liquid. For myself I did find the 5% bad, within 12 hours my scalp was almost white with flakes, but thats just me, yours probably is entirely different!!! keep up the good work bro!!!
  4. looks good brother, you are going to be very happy in another 11.5 months, happy growing!!!! tommy
  5. Hey HT brother, I am experiencing the same thing, I was Thinking its probably mostly the Minox. I was getting a lot of flaking, decreased the minox to 2% and it doesn't seem quite as bad. It seems to have stabilized so am back using 5% at night and the 2% during the day and will move back to all 5% in next few day. Other than that hope all is well!!
  6. Thanks Bill, your advice is allways great, very good feeling when the experts like yourself say encouraging things. No doubt will wait it out 12 months and see what happens. i think because of my fine hair I may want to increase density in the hairline maybe first. I will post a couple of crown shots pre-surgery in my blog, if you get a chance look at them for me. Rahal doen't think I will need any work there, especially since I have been on propecia regularly for a few months now, thinks that should hold the crown. thanks again!!!!
  7. nm76, yes, it did seem to stabilze after 37-38, now 44. on my main blog page is my july pic, i seem to have had shed ton of hair in last few months after starting propecia regularly i guess, mostly july, august and september, really knocked out my hairline and fronnt 1/3rd.
  8. thanks bud great to get that reassurance from a fellow transplant recipiant, so I am sure you agree. I think we will both have excellent rsults, you and I seem to be exactly at the same place. I am keeping my expectations reasonably minimal. The thought of the scar bothers me a bit, I must confess, hopefully in 6 months that will be a moot issue, how are you finding the 5% rogaine, I never used it before, so finding it really drying out my scalp, guess I will keep up with it though, thinking about going to 2%. anyway keep in touch and will catch up with you soon tommy
  9. just a few pics on my web-blog, showing day 22 progress, as slow as it seems the time goes so fast, can not believe its three weeks already....Scar area is all healed well, little sensitive to touch, but the recipient area feels like pre-op, no sensation loss. I have had minimal shedding to date and the new hair appears to be all growing, most shed seems to be mostly on the hairline itself, don,'t know if this is common?I think I have already decided to fill in the temple angles, probably FUE in 12 months post op, but will wait and see how progress goes, any suggestions appreciated... thanks

  11. hey dude, looks great, seems like we are both progressing at the same pace, feel more confident each day that we choose the right surgeon, i am starting to see some shedding also, guess thats soemthing we all have to deal with, just nice seeing that hairline for a while though, isn't it. keep me informed and will keep looking for your updates. I just downloaded a few pics last night on my blog, the next few months will not go fast enough, cheers!!!!
  12. sounds possibly like foliculitis to me, see a derm and get treated. although i don't know for sure, i would guess there is some incident of it post ht.
  13. hey there, thanks man for the look at my weblog, my first HT so a little nervous. I have never heard of Siporin, but his work on you looks fantastic. I will probably want a 2nd go in a year or so, like the idea that you didn't have to shave down and intersted in what you say about minimizing the shedding. You didn't look like you had anything down after 10 days, thats amazing, where is Siporin located? I am posting my 3 week photos tomorrow, no shedding or any amount up to this point. I did start rogaine early and increased my propecia regime, so hoping that may help minimize the shed. Rahal also never suggested anything on the donor scar, just showering twice daily and it healed very early, there is no scabbing and clean scar after about ten days, so I agree with you on keeping it dry. We all hope for great and quick healing etc, growth, just would love to be in your boat, again looks excellent, hope all continues to go well, thanks for the prompt response and we'll be in touch, tommy
  14. hi there, the work looks excellent, can't believe it looks so good. I am three weeks post op. Just wondering you noted you kept the incision mostly dry as you said on the caption on your pic, just wondering why you did this, I have been showering twice daily, wondering what you know that I may benefit from. Thanks tommy
  15. yes Dr. Lindsey, that is a brillant approach alternative that I have never really heard of before, makes excellent sense. I know scar developement has a myriad of potential influences. As a medical professional I see a fair amount of scar tissue and find there is a wide variation in scar developement(hypertrophy) from person to person. I feel it may be a good indicator of post -op results following fut, but not definitive. Being a recent surgical fut case, i feel the end result of having a rebuilt hairline far outweighs the potential for a noticable scar that can eventually be dealt with in several ways. I know from following these boards for years that scar developement is a major obstacle to persons wanting to pull the trigger on going forward. My only point is that if you don't normal build hypertrophic scar tissue you will be more than fine with a strip result from the recommended surgeons on this board.
  16. just linking in my blogpage, any feedback on my two weeks pics appreciated, any suggestions regarding care at this point, the scar is healing nicely, will post some pics of it this week at 3 week mark, thanks tommy

  23. I have been getting a few pms regarding my recent HT. One thing we allways see is questions regarding the strip scar. Number one, if you build hypertrophic scar tissue, then do not consider a strip as your first line of defense. If you have childhood scars still visable, then you have hypertrophic scarring. Some people can be cut and heal spectacularly, it is individualistic. \secondly fue into the scar is a real option, if the scarring is that bad. My personal opinion is that a full hairline would outweigh the potential for scarring, if you determine that you heal well normally. Worse case senario is that you tell anyone inquiring you were hit in the back of the head with a blunt axe, that should shut them up quickly!!!!! cheers, 7 days and growing!!!

  25. hey dude, awsome pics and wicked hairline, looks pretty much like me, man you got to be excited like you said, i haven't given it a second thought since surgery day, just totally estatic, your girlfriend is going to love you. Keep in touch, and will be in Chigaco soon, over next month or so, should hook up for sure. Glad you dropped in to meet me, hopefully we will be able to bounce things off each other over the long winter ahead!!! I am going to be around here a few more days visiting my sister, she thinks the surgery was awsome, she just looked at the donor and says its pristine and all the grafts look well planted, minimal scabbing yet, so optimistic so far, keeping fingers crossed etc. let me know how its going and no sex or alcohol, remember that!!!!! tommy
