  1. "and now I have way to much hair on top of my head"....I can't grasp how this could be a problem? Unless you mean you have way too much density on a small section of your head compared to the rest.
  2. Sounds good Bill ..to be honest reading your log about your procedure with Dr. True really inspired me to get off my Butt to finally schedule a procedure. Your loss pattern is very similar to mine and I liked how your hairline came out in your 1 year post op pics. I'm really getting attached to my hairs that I have now and I think I will be sad to see them go. Kind of liking the buzz cut look. Its amazing to see a hairline in front of my head after all these years of not having one. I'm just hoping to get a good yield out of this and get back as many as possible.
  3. Hey thanks for the response guys. Its good to hear your opinions. Specially all the regulars that I see on here. I've been following these forums for a while and was anxious to "join the crew". Today is my first day back at work with no hat 17 days later. It was a long few weeks but I got through it. I think I look somewhat normal with a buzz cut and prothik covering my scar. Would rather use Dermatch b/c my scar is still a bit red but Prothik does a better job covering things up. Although it tends to be more irritating on the scar. I only got one comment today from someone asking me if I wore a hat this morning..lol...guess she noticed a little bit of separation from the scar. Other than that no one else seems to know or care. My fears of coming back to work were way overated. I'll be sure to post about my progress. Probably going to setup a weblog as well. That is good to hear about the benefits of having black curly hair. I've hated my type of hair all my life but now for once it seems like it will work to my advantge.
  4. Here is a pic 17 days post op. Hairs are still growing with no sign of fall out yet. Been taking some MSM in the hopes I can get some of my old hair to grow as quick as possible.
  5. Well I did it. Approximately 2 weeks ago I sat in the chair for the second time. My first op was with Dr. Loria back in 2000. Unfortunately I didn't do much research back then and ended up getting a sub par Micro/mini graft procedure of 1500 grafts. Didnt really see much of a difference and it did nothing for my hairline. I stopped taking Propecia around 3 years ago I have thinned out a little more. Thinking about getting on it again but still on the fence about it due to the side effects I had. Anyhow I will create a weblog but just wanted to post some preliminary pics and get a little feedback. Dr. Feller placed around 3300 in the frontal 1/3 of my scalp. My main goal was to define a hairline and create a little more density in this area as well as behind it toward mid scalp. Dr. Feller and his staff are great. I find it pretty amazing how they do this type of work day in and day out. What a difference this procedure was compared to my previous procedure with Dr. Loria. I had practically no scabbing this time, and the redness went away in just a matter of days. The work seems light years ahead of what I had done in the past. Just wish I had found out about this site sooner.
  6. I'm 5 days post op...Its ok I dont think one time is going to "kill" anything. I'll just be sure to use aloe with no alcohol.
  7. I used some Aloe Vera gel with lidocaine which contains Alcohol on my scalp as recommended by some here on this forum. I was reading some other posts today and was shocked to read about the possibility of alcohol killing the implanted grafts. Is this true? Or is this perhaps an exaggerated statement. I'm 5 days post op.

  9. I had a 3250 grafvt session yesterday. Everything went well. I've read lots of threads on some post op treatments like Biotin, Aloe, etc...My question is when can I start using this stuff called scargel I bought. Supposedly it helps cool and heal the scar quicker. Do I have to wait until the staples come out? Also, when I can I start adding some aloe to the recipient site? Shall I wait 3 to 4 days until the grafts are set to do anything? Thanks so much for any help on this. Also, I wasn't prescribed any anti-biotics for post treatment. Is it necessary to tak them?

  11. Thanks Nikki... I think the product your mentioning is a shampoo and/or conditioner. I was talking about post surgical Biotin or more like a scalp treatment quality Biotin as opposed to the beauty products that contain it.
  12. Ok sorry folks I was under the impression this stuff was cheap and you could buy it in any GNC or drugstore. I see that $99 is the cheapest you could find it at. Also haircycle seems to be the only place selling this stuff.
  13. Would like to use Biotin Hair spray after transplant to help reduce redness. I see it mentioned a lot on here but not sure exactly what and where to buy. I went to a few GNC stores and Duane Reade and could not find this stuff anywhere. They have Biotin hair styling gel and shampoo but no leave in spray as this is what I imagine it is. Is there a certain brand I should look for? I went on the internet and found a bottle but this place wanted $99 for it..yeah right.

  15. Thanks for the reassurance Zerro...cant weait till Thursday just want to do this and get it over with !
  16. Thanks for the response guys..I dont think I'm going to refuse any relaxation medications for the surgery! lol...The first procedure I had my girlfriend drove me back but I'm having trouble remembering how I felt afterwards, that was a few years ago. If I had to guess I would say I was OK to drive.
  17. Did some searching on this but couldn't find anything. What I would like to know is if anyone has driven back home right after their surgery? I'm going to Dr. Feller this week who is in Long island and I will be driving from New Jersey. Its probably 30 miles each way. I could also take public transportation but would rather drive if I could.

  19. wow I love hearing testomonials like this about Feller going to him next THursday for a strip procedure...guess my research paid off..thanks for the comments Big1
  20. Slick... Thanks for the response. Seems to be mixed feelings on this but the majority who decide to use concealers claim to be able to pull it off. What length did you cut in the back and sides? Did you use dermatch on top as well?
  21. Thats going to depend...is your doctor going to shave the recipient area? How large of a procedure are you getting? 2 days is not a lot of time so I would probably have to say no.
  22. Yes I know they shave the recipient site..thats why I'm mentioning using concealers. I'm taking off two weeks from work. What I'm planning on doing is before returning to work buzzin the sides and back with a number 3..then maybe have the barber blend it in with the top. For the scar section I'm going to try and use dermatch to cover it up. The rest I'm going to experiment. Is it going to work? I dont know and would probably say no but I will try and will post pictures to show how it looks. If there is no chance ii hiding it then I will just come clean...like you say. However I have seen some 2 week post op pics and depending on how and how fast the top heals it might be possible, specially if my front previous transplanted hair grows back and not much is lost due to shock loss. I guess time will tell.
  23. Wish me luck..HT #2...the first one was with Dr. Victor Loria back in 2000...minimal results with mini/micro grafts in the front 1/3 of my head. Honestly I cant say it was worth the $5000 I paid and dont think I even got the 1500 or so grafts he claimed to insert so I'm hoping Dr.Feller will be able to recontruct my hairline naturally and with some density. Were shooting for 2500 but I think I would like to get more if possible..I will create a blog with some pics. Also, I'm going to try and document how or even if I can conceal a hair transplant within two weeks of going back to work. I cant take off more than this and cant wear a hat so I'm hoping I will be able to somehow hide it with some Dermatch, Prothik, and or Toppik. Regardless if I can or not I will show you guys how it looks before going back to work with some concealers. This seems to be a major concern with getting your recipient site shaved however I dont see a lot of people showing how it might look once you try and mask it. Just how it looks plain after a few weeks.
  24. I already read ur Blog Benjamin it was pretty informative..thanks for your response as well! The most anxiety I have about this procedure is having my recip. area shaved. I can only take two weeks off from work and I'm really hung up on how I'm going to try and hide it. I'm HOPING I might be able to use Dermatch to hide the scar area thinning and maybe topik for the top. Before I go back to work I'm planning on cutting my hair really short to blend with the top a bit. I'm going to try and see if feller can use like a #2 instead of a zero which I dont think he will but who knows. I can't wear a hat to work I'm in a very strict corporate environment so this is going to be interesting to see how I'm going to get by this. At the same time I want to do this now b/c I'm tired of waiting. I need to pull the trigger on this its been six years since my last HT.
  25. Yeah same here. I'm more concerned with the front. I have thinning in the crown as well but I really dont mind using cosmetic coverup in that area. Its the front that bothers me. I'm hoping to get some decent density with 2500 in my front hailine but after reading some posts here I think I'm going to need like 4000 to be where I want to be. Not sure why Dr. Feller told me he wasn't sure if he could get even 3000 when I had only one transplant of 1500 in the past. I have average donor density.
