  1. John, I too am young with recent loss to the hairline and vertex. After researching this and other forums like crazy, your best bet is to get on Propecia and Rogaine, which is pretty much the unanimous choice as the best preventative non surgical method to halting loss for young men. You stated both drugs "are not proven" to work on the front. This is because both companies can not legally state it works there because their studies only focused on the crown. Read posts on this forum, both can and have helped with frontal loss. I just started both a month ago and here is my logic. I too can not settle with being bald, but am too young and have too premature of loss to have a transplant. So, I got on the best option of meds available and will try for AT LEAST one year. Neither drug will speed up loss, so why not give them a shot. The sexual side effects of Propecia are reversible, so if i get them, i will stop. Also, Ive read that its recommended to get on Propecia before a transplant, because it will stabilize loss, and strengthen existing hair thus helping the transplant succeed once you go through with it. Just my two cents after diligently researching the past few months.
  2. Oakland, Im the same age and pretty much in the same boat. I always had a high hairline but recently noticed thinning and slight recession in the vertex to front/hairline. I panicked and began researching intensely on this forum and other websites. I want to stop or at least delay my loss asap as I am only 25 also. I've read our best bet is to get on Propecia and Rogaine asap. I dont really feel sold on Nizoral/Revitra yet but im giving Revitra a shot shortly. The fact that we're doing something early and at a young age seems to be a huge advantage in the hair loss struggle. I'm only a month in on both so I cant give results but Im hopeful and would be happy if i just keep what I got for 5 years. Finasteride(Propecia/Proscar) is your absolute best chance at combating hair loss without a HT. Trust me, search this forum.
  3. Im one month in to Propecia/Minox. I experienced rapid loss, and got one both right away. I think Im shedding but not sure since im a natural blonde and have always shed a good amount naturally. My question is, is this in my head or is it possible to begin shedding this quickly into the meds? Im 25 and am barely noticibly thinning in mid to front of scalp. Also, seems an appropriate time to start a survey. When did you start shedding on meds, and how long did it last? Also, if you got good results, when did you notice them? thanks for any input
  4. Hey All, Ive been checking out the forum since my MPB kicked in enough to start really bothering me. Im a very light blonde, who always had hair on the finer side, and a high hairline. Judging by family members, i always figured i would start losing hair but not at 25! About 3-4 months ago i noticed thinning on the frontal top portion of my scalp, behind my hairline. At first it wasnt bad, but throughout these past 4 months the thinning is getting worse and the thinning is now down to my hairline. It appears i went from a norwood 2 to a diffuse norwood 3 anterior in only a few months and its getting worse and more and more noticeable. Has most/some/anyone experienced this kind of rapid loss? I started on Fin and Minox a month ago and im praying it works. I can live with what i have now, any less and i really dont know if i can deal. People who have experienced rapid loss, did Fin and Min halt/regrow compared to slow loss victims? Is there any evidence that rapid losers are more or less likely to have meds work? I have no crown loss, only mid scalp to front thinning. Also, i was diagnosed with mild psoriasis of the scalp years ago, and its been a chronic problem. Can this contribute? Is it possible im in a mid shed after one month on meds? I feel something I did kicked my MPB into hyperdrive. Can prescription drugs do this? If so which ones? Im going to see Dr Robert Bernstein in NYC next week for professional advice but this forum has been extremely educational. From what Ive read, it seems propecia helps with thinning, not hairline recession, so Im hoping for the best. Thank you for any help. .
