  1. Hi Guys. You've given some good advice about the effective dosage of finasteride, but what about my opening questions abour Propecia?
  2. I recently read an article by Dr. Cooley somewhere on this web site who stated that propecia could be taken every other day or 3x per week,(M,W,F), since one dose stays in your body for three days; therefore, one could theoretically get the same efficacy as taking the medication once per day. He also alluded to the fact that the drug company, Merk?, doesn't diclose this to the public because of the $ factor. However, when I brushed this by my ht surgeon he told me that it was nonsense and that taking the meds once per day was totally required in order to get any benefits. Do you suppose I read the article correctly, and why the discrepancy in opinions? Anyone?
  3. To answer maxhair's question: no, the same tech didn't work totally on me. There were different techs on both sides of my head. However, when I asked my Dr. about this and he told me it doesn't make any difference what tech was where. He stated that it was his work and if there was to be a big difference in the final outcome it would be his fault. Consequently he basically told me there wouldn't be a huge difference in the long term.
  4. No problem hairthere. I can see how you may have misinterpretted my post, and you're right, one shouldn't judge the final outcome for at least 10-12 months. However, this time-frame in the process is a difficult one with all the new growth sprouting and blending in with the old hairs. It's almost hard to believe that the procedure will progress even better. Thanks for your input.
  5. Thanks for the info Eman. This process is always an ongoing learning experience
  6. hairthere, I'm not making any final judgements, I'm just wondering if any new growth will sprout in the spotty areas since I've had good growth since around month 2
  7. Hi, I've written before and have had some good advice during this process in the past, but I'm still rather curious about what to expect after 5 months. I realize that everyone grows differently but I do notice that the right side of my head is really filling in and seems more densly packed compared to the left side. Thus, the left side seems a lot finer and a lot less densly packed. In fact, I notice some areas that have spots with no hair at all in the hairline. Therefore, it's hard for me to believe that I will have the 40-50 cm2 that I was anticipating from my consultation. However, I did see my Dr. recently for a check-up, who is a coalition recommendation, and he assured me that my growth rate is right where he expected. He also agreed that the one side was thicker but he expected everything to even out in the end, between 10-12 months. To update you, I had about 1800 FUT's on the frontal hairline and temples. Therefore, I guess my question is that even though my dr. expects everything to even out, has anyone had a similar experience? I understand that the hairs will get thicker, but can I expect any new growth in the spotty areas that I described? Thanks for any input.
  8. Hi, I had my procedure done near the end of July, and as I have posted before, I have some pretty decent growth, especially on one side of my head. My problem is that in certain lighting conditions I can still see the reddish discoloration of where the work was done, and I'm sure that other people notice that, too. It also seems like the grafts that are growing in are quite noticable under certain lighting. I was a class 4 with some decent hair left in the mid scalp, somewhat similar to a mohawk, so I'm able to cover much of the work, but I'm afraid that if I get a haircut everything that I mentioned will be much more noticeable. My questions are: Will more hair grow in to cover that reddish outline and will a haircut make things look better or worse? I also need to mention that I had some temple work done and there is also a reddish outline surrounding those. I know it's hard to give advice without seeing pictures, but any input would be welcome.

  10. I also get post cards every few months from Bosley. Their "special rate," which is on every brochure sent to me is - "The first 800 grafts for $3,800" and that's before reading the fine print which explains that it's more expensive after the first 800 grafts. Thus knowing that most candidates that want this type of procedure will definitely need more than 800 grafts for satisfactory results, this pricing "special" is actually a rip off. To put things in perspctive, I went to a highly qualified coolition doctor, more than doubled the 800 graft "special" from Bosley, and also got a much better price, thus more grafts for my buck. I guess my point is that not only will you probably be more assured of having satisfactory results with a coolition doc, but you're also are more likely to get a better price for a quality procedure
  11. Thanks for the input HK500 and Dr. Paul, My Dr., who seems like an A-1 guy, told me during the procedure that he did make the sides asymmmetrical being that most people's hairlines do differ from side to side. However, I didn't think that applied to the density, too. Again, thanks for the input.
  12. Had about 1800 fue's to hairline and temples about 3 months ago with a coalition surgeon. As of now, the right side is sprouting in at a much faster and fuller rate than my left side, which is sprouting at a much slower and sparser rate. I also noticed that when I first had the procedure the right side seemed thicker and fuller than the left and it also took the right side much longer to shed than the left. The left side seemed to shed almost right away. Does anyone think that there's a connection in the pre and post growth rates, or how about the capabilities of the techs doing the work on each side of my head? On the other hand, the temple hairs seemed to hang on forever the first few weeks, but I hardly see any growth now, although I know it's still fairly early.
