  1. Hi, What are you really looking for...someone that responds timely or someone that you can trust to do good work? There seems to be lots and lots of "shady" characters in the HT business. If you choose the wrong doctor, you'll be wearing the results for the rest of your life. When I chose my doctor, it wasn't based on "systems" or "e-mail respons time". My decision was simply based on trust. So, for me, it was critical that I chose a doctor I trusted. One way to build that trust was through research on boards like this...hearing what his patients had to say. But, more importantly, it was critical that I actually meet the doctor face-to-face and see for myself whether he was full of SH*T or someone I could trust. When I met Dr. Feller, he took as much time as necessary to speak with me. I could see that he was a person of integrity...the kind of person I could and do trust. Sure...there are probably some "clinics" with better service and better systems. They are probably much better at "herding people through". That's not what I wanted. I wanted personal, face-to-face service with someone I trusted. I would make my decision based on past results and the face-to-face meeting...rather than on an unanswered e-mail or time it took to phone you back.
  2. Hi, I'm in a similar place. I'm now 2-1/2 months post HT...and the grafts still haven't fallen out. However, a few seem to be growing...or, maybe it's just my imagination! David
  3. Hi, I have been washing the recipient site normally...have been doing so since about 10 days after the HT. I wasn't aware that some people don't shed. Maybe I am one of the rare cases. I haven't had much "shock loss" either. Thanks, David
  4. My wife removed my staples using the tool supplied by the doctor. We were over in Europe so didn't have much choice. My advice...have the doctor do it! I prepared well for the evening. I took the last of my pain pills (saved for the special occassion). Took a long hot bath and soaked my head...while drinking 4 or 5 glasses of wine. Here's the problem...a few of them HURT LIKE HELL! My wife improved with experience...but getting that experience was a real nightmare. For the 2 or 3 problem staples...she basically had to pull like hell. Picture starting an old rusty lawn mower. You pull the cord hard with one hand while holding on to the lawn mower to steady it with the other. That was the experience...except it was my damn head!!! Or, picture a dentist pulling your wisdom teeth without numbing your mouth first. On the bright side, I'm still alive. And of course, I drank 4 or 5 more glasses of wine to calm the anxiety from the experience. David
  5. Hi, This is a great forum. Thank you to everyone who has answered my questions in the past. I had a HT 7 weeks ago tomorrow. At this point, there is no shedding of the transplanted grafts. They are growing slightly...but still very short. I've read that the "sooner you lose them...the sooner the new ones will grow". Any clue what this might mean to me? Am I still going to lose the transplanted grafts? Does this mean the typical period for re-growth will be longer? Thanks!
  6. Hi, I had the HT 4 weeks ago. I started running 3 days ago and haven't had a problem. I'll wait a few weeks for the weights though. David
  7. This is a great question! Not because I have the answers...but because I'm in the same boat. My wife will do the honors (take out my staples) this Friday. We decided to take a long vacation right after my HT (last Tuesday with Dr. Feller), and this Friday is the 10 day mark. Believe it or not, I was so "out of it" after the transplant that I don't remember how to take out the staples! I suppose I'll need to call Dr. Feller and ask. What day are you removing the staples? Hopefully, you'll post some tips and tricks aftewards. David
  8. What did everyone take with them to their hair transplant? Mine is coming up soon...and I want to be prepared. Thanks!

  10. Okay...one more silly question. I'm planning to fly 3 days after my HT. Is this a problem? Do the staples set off the security at the airport? David

  12. Hi, I am doing the hair transplant thing in 2 weeks...and am getting cold feet. Two questions that are revolving through my mind... 1-Is it REALLY natural? Do people you've never met EVER suspect you've had a hair transplant? 2-An even sillier question...does your barber/hair stylist know? What do you tell them? Sorry for the irrational thoughts. Any calming advice would be worth its weight in gold! David
