  1. Hello everyone I’m on week 11 now coming up to 3 months and I’m certainly in the ugly duckling phase. I was hoping for some advice or opinions about shock loss. So currently I feel that my hair now appears far thinner than before I got the surgery. Does shock loss cause existing non transplanted hairs to fall out? This was 2 months before my surgery, you can see alot of thinning hence my reasoning for the transplant. This was taken this evening, you can clearly see a big difference in the level of thinning in my front area where the grafts went. Has anyone else had experience where their existing hair got much thinner post surgery? I would love some opinions on this, thanks.
  2. 1 month update - Got my first haircut today which I am delighted about because the back and sides being longer than the hair on top is certainly not a good look for me(or probably anyone). Quite happy with how things are progressing, feels a little bit slow now since I have shedded away all of the transplanted hair. It feels like my hair at the front is thinner than I initially thought it was but I think that just might be how short it is at the moment. I believe it could be another 2 months before any hair starts to actually grow, please correct me if I’m wrong… feels like a waiting game now. Oh to be a bit patient.
  3. Thank you, great to hear positive feedback 😁
  4. He told me not to be too concerned about growth until month 6 where you can start to see the clear difference but I do believe it starts to slowly grow in properly at month 3/4.
  5. Nah no growth yet I’m still waiting for the hair to fall out! Only day 20 now so time to be patient and wait for a few months. Dr Nel is great I couldn’t recommend him more, please get in contact if you have any questions I’d be more than happy to help.
  6. Hey mate how’s it going, yes very happy so far. Are you going to dr Nel for an initial consultation?
  7. DAY 10 Update: Hi All, I’ve just reached Day 10 and got to wash my hair properly with baby shampoo for the first time, gotten all of the scabs away now. How does it look? Feedback would be greatly appreciated!
  8. DAY 3 UPDATE: Except for the insane swelling I’ve had in my face, it has been pretty plain sailing so far. Sleeping better than I expected to and absolutely no pain. Donor and recipient seem to be recovered well although I’m no expert so any input would be well appreciated.
  9. Nah I don’t see any justification for the prices that blackrock are charging. It is nearly double that of Dr Nel who has an equally good reputation in the country.
  10. Hi thanks alot for your feedback. I have nothing but good things to say about Dr Nel, he was straight talking and honest with me from the beginning.. no bs, no tactics to try and sell me a transplant. He is very strict on taking medication as the main factor. I had exchanged messages with a few different clinics in Ireland but I never found any to be as professional as Dr Nels clinic. Personally for me, going abroad was never going to be an option so it was about finding the right one here in Ireland. The surgery went on for 2 days, Dr Nel likes to perform the incisions himself the night before and then I came in the next day for the rest of the day. I was in for just under 3 hours on the first day and approx 10 hours on the second. I also must mention his team of technicians are extremely friendly. It was a very relaxing and easy day all things considered. Today I had the follow up where he cleaned the donor & recipient area and went through the vital after care plan. A second follow up is planned for 12 days time. I hope I’ve answered the questions you had, feel free to ask any more!
  11. Hi Guys, I only created my account today as I have just had my 2300 graft FUE transplant and have been lurking other threads in the last few months so felt maybe sharing my experience could be helpful to others in the future. So I’m 25 and have been experiencing hairloss since 21. It’s had quite a negative effect on me, I initially was in denial putting it down to bad haircuts, eventually I tried some topical minoxidil and biotin… probably got some positive results for just under a year before my hair started to get to me again. Having been reluctant to get on Finasteride, I met with Dr Andre Nel, a surgeon based in Ireland last April and he started me on the medication. I have been taking it since and have certainly steadied the ship with hair loss but I probably started it too late and considering I had always liked my hair pre hair loss I made the decision to go with a hair transplant! So today was that day and I received 2300 grafts planted on my frontal region, I will attach some photos below. Feel free to comment your opinion on it or ask any questions you may have. Also please let me know if I have made a mistake with posting in the wrong section of this thread or something, bear with me as I’m new around here! The first 2 pictures are pre op and the last 2 are taken this evening after the op.
