  1. 3 months in. Hair is growing! No problems so far and I am pretty happy. Still not dense, but it’s still a long way until the 12th month mark.
  2. Hey! Quick update after 22 days, everything is good so far. Shedding is pretty strong, redness is there. But besides that no issues, donor is looking good in my opinion. What do you think?
  3. Just noticed some redness (circled) in the recipient area, but should be fine, hair is growing strong. I am now at day 10 post HT. Shedding also isn’t too bad right now.
  4. Looking forward to your experience 🙂 If anyone is interested, just got the info: it’s roughly 700 single hairs, 1050 doubles and 1100 3+
  5. @Berba11: thanks bud! @rsb: Price per graft is 2.4€ with Dr. Maras. Really fair. Scabs are all gone now 🏆 some hair already seemed to shed. Having an „emptier“ spot on the right side of my head. I’ve read different things online, but shedding after one week shouldn’t be super unusual. So far really happy!
  6. Day 8 now, scabs are mostly gone. Swelling also, some still under the skin, but it’s all good. so far happy with everything!
  7. Whatsup guys, Some months ago I decided to get a HT. I’ve had high temples for lots of years and my hairline noticeably went back over the last couple of years, even though I always had a high forehead. Since HTs are getting more visible and more people are doing them I thought why not also try. I started reaching out to different clinics in Germany, where I live. I also had consultations with different doctors here. The doctors have good reputation but are not specialized on Hair Transplants, they all advised me to do 1000-1200 grafts FUT. They basically said the same: FUT is the best, has the highest survival rate of hairs, FUT is the least invasive method and don’t do the mistake and go abroad for an FUE treatment... Well, end of story: I went for a FUE treatment. 🙂 I did my research and also directly contacted different clinics around Europe. They all strongly advised against doing FUT with so few grafts and all suggested to do FUE with around 2.000-3.000 grafts. I decided to go with Dr. Maras @ HDC, since Ive read lots of good reviews online, I got quick responses from one of the Patient Coordinators Doron Harati and all in all, my planned HT day was possible. We settled everything via WhatsApp. While planning something like that is SUPER uncommon in Germany, it made the whole process easy and I always got super fast responses from Doron. So we settled everything: hairline/temple correction, probably around 2.500 grafts. One thing that actually surprised me was, that with the reputable clinics I never spoke to a doctor directly. I was always contacted by Patient Coordinators. Here in Germany every consultation was with a doctor directly. That was new to me, but no problem. I got a first graft quote, had a Skype Call with him and HDCs Clinic Manager and we confirmed everything. You can find their whole team and staff here: https://www.hairtransplants-hdc.com/about/our-people The HT was planned to be done in 2 days and I was asked to stay at least 5 nights to be able to go to the clinics daily check-ups. Was no problem to me, but I guess the clinic is flexible, if you don't have time stay 5 nights. The HT itself: Arrival: Arrival was at Larnaka Airport on a Sunday, got picked up by one of HDCs staff members there. Then I was driven to one of the clinics Appartements. The apartment I stayed in is roughly 200m away from the clinic, has a kitchen, living room, bath and bedroom. WiFi etc is included. Not only don’t you need more, the Appartement itself is modern and there are lots of bakeries, supermarkets etc. nearby. The accommodation is included in your HT if you’re coming from overseas. You can find all of them here: https://www.hairtransplants-hdc.com/travel-aid/clinic-accomodation Since I wasn’t traveling alone, Doron arranged Lofos Flat for us and that was really good. If you stay in one of the apartments, I advise you to ask your PC what kind of accommodation is free for you, so that you can choose and choose, what you want. The area around the clinic and the apartement is not too exciting, but honestly you don't need something else than a supermarket nearby. Day one: The HTs begins at 08:00am. I was at the clinic a little bit early. Got greeted by a staff member, photos were taken and I was shortly after introduced to Dr. Maras, who took a look at me and we talked about what would be possible. He drew two hairlines, one higher, one lower, because I wasn't totally sure, where I wanted the hairline to be. What I initially really liked about Dr. Maras was his calm persona and that he took his time with me, with the hairline design and with all my questions. I have very thin hair, so that was also a small problem. Dr. Maras is a very calm and seems to be a very down-to-earth doctor, that was a big plus also. I felt being in good hands with an experienced surgeon. I was then brought into the surgery room, the technicians for both days introduced themselves and Dr. Maras explained the whole procedure, answered lots of my questions and then they did their work. Inbetween there were some breaks, I could eat and drink something and after lunch Dr. Maras drew the finale hairline and he started to did his work on my forehead. It took pretty long. At around 3pm. I was finished with day one. Dr. Kristina explained me the follow up steps (saline solution, painkillers etc.) and I left for my apartment. I was pretty exhausted and went to sleep in the evening with my beloved neck pillow in a super comfortable 45° angle. Day two: We started at 08:00am and honestly this day was rougher for me. I have sensitive skin around my head and the local anesthesia injection hurt like hell for me. Day two was no different. I also felt some kind of burning at around lunch time, so they injected more into my head. At around 2pm the team was finished with everything. I had my lunch and then left. Day two was really rough. I knew what to expect and the surgery exhausts your body. In lots of reviews you hear that a HT isn't super painful or unpleasant, but for me some things (mostly injections) definitely were lol. But nonetheless, the team at HDC was really great, super helpful, took their time with everything and Dr. Maras calm personality definitely helped. They did roughly 2.800 grafts in two days. Follow-up days: For the next three days I went to HDC twice a day and they started washing my head twice a day and checked if everything was okay. At HDC you don't get a headband, so that your body can naturally fight the liquid inside your head. Swelling is super common, but my head was about twice the size, my eyes were swollen and I looked like this guy here. I didn't have any pain or anything. Everything was fine. When I left HDC at my last day I brought the team a cake, because I think they have a fantastic chemistry and are super patient oriented, no question is one too many, they take their time and you feel like being in good hands and I really liked that. On my last day we were brought to the airport by the clinics own driver, that was also super easy. Now: Swelling got better, but still is there. I still have some scabs on my forehead and they do fall off with washing. I still sleep upright with my totally comfortable neck pillow and am really excited about the end result. Of course the end result is what lastly matters, but I still am very happy about choosing HDC and Dr. Maras as my surgeon, since they did a fantastic, professional job. All in all I am more than happy, the treatment was super good, Dr. Maras was always there and even when the technicians did their job, he showed up and looked after me. I wish him and HDCs whole staff all the best. Will of course add follow up updates! Attached some pics and one now 6 days after. Still have lots of scabs on top of my head. Hopefully they will fall off soon.
  8. I looked like absolute sh*t when flying back home. Swelling was the worst that day lel.
  9. Not replying could also be because of the Christmas holidays. I personally wouldn't worry if everything is booked, your HT is confirmed and you know where to go. You will be fine. Don't stress out too much, especially since the HT is soon.
  10. Wouldn't train for at least 10 days, but also listen to your body. If you still have swelling on your face, scabs on your head... I would definitely not hit the gym.
  11. Will share my experience with Dr. Maras soon, but was more than happy. Also depending on where you are from, would also consider travel time etc.
  12. Update: all of the said doctors have made the same recommendation: roughly 2k-2.5k grafts FUE. Have now switched plans, will do FUE instead and keep you guys updated with the process. THANK you very much!
  13. Thank you so much for your replies, read them all and will answer shortly
  14. Thank you everybody. Does increase my insecurity lol. I am from Germany, so please excuse my English. All doctors I went to do offer FUE, but all of them recommended FUT for my needs. They said that because of my lighter and thinner hair, FUE would only be second choice. They also said that the rate of healthy hair, that grows in is higher with FUT than when you go with FUE. To be fair: my doctor told me that the hairline and everything specific will be discussed on the day of the HT and that I should not worry, that he will use more if he thinks, that it’s not enough („100 or 200 more is nothing“). I told him I would also pay more to have more grafts and an overall lower hairline. He told me again that I should not worry. I had the feeling that he especially wants to go for a natural look and number of grafts comes second. I am thinking about seeing another doctor, to have one more opinion.
  15. Hi guys! First of all I would like to thank you all for creating this place of discussion and help in regards to HTs. I (30 years old) am having my first HT in a couple of months, a FUT treatment is planned. The doctor wants to transplant about 1.200 grafts. I don’t really experience much hair loss, even tho my hairline has become thinner and wanders backwards. He told me, that around 1200 grafts would be enough a) because I am still „young“ and don’t know, if and how the hairloss will progress, b) because he doesn’t want to make the donor area too big for the first HT and keep the scar thin and small c) he told me, that we should aim for a natural hairline, that’s definitely not too low (about one finger below my current hairline) He has about 20 years of experience and a very good reputation. He also advised me of not doing FUE, because I have blonde looking hair and in general he doesn’t recommend it with my head/hair because of the much higher „survival rate“ of the transplanted FUT hair and the overall quality. I am still a little bit unsure, if 1.200 grafts FUT are enough and also if my hairline then has a good density and an overall good look. I have also consulted other doctors and both other clinics also advised FUT and roughly about 1000 grafts. Would you say I am to crazy about it and should just look forward to the HT? Thank you!
