  1. This isn’t even about illusion of density, I understand my hair will never be what it was originally. I understand coming into a hair transplant I would have density 50% of original hair. My problem is how poorly he placed the grafts on my right temple, it just looks silly. I did have my hair longer before buzzing, but it looked bad with the bald areas on my right side, so I buzzed it in hopes maybe I still have some more growth, but I highly doubt it since the clear bald areas have look the same since the beginning. Also, I don’t see any new follicles on my right side. I am happy with my left side, not happy with my crown and my right side. I know this surgeon is capable of doing amazing work, that’s why I chose him because of the results I saw from users on this forum, but unfortunately he rushed my transplant toward the end and left before even doing my crown. A surgeon should always go 100% with his patient, that should be the minimum standard for any surgery cosmetic or not. They shouldn’t treat one patient different from another in terms of time and quality spend with patient. And I understand each patient is different and will yield different results, but this is clearly bad graft placement on my right side with that terrible spacing. I’ll update you guys in 1 month with a bit longer hair. Thanks for reading.
  2. here is an almost 6 month update. I’m not happy with his work, my right side looks awful. In fact so I awful I decided to get a buzz cut because it looks so bad. Like someone else pointed out the right side looks like it was done by a different person. Just look at all the bald areas on my right temple that were skipped over. And I mean it when I said he rushed my right side. Right side: left side:
  3. Dr. Turan did not do my crown. I have nothing to gain by lying if you’re assuming that’s what I’m doing. Dr. Turan left and never came back through the door operating room door after my hairline was finished and never came back. The next time I saw Dr. Turan was in the morning. He was not there for the crown portion. Gaslight me all you want. But I will tell my side of the story and my personal experience. Again, I have no reason to fabricate this. I’m not here to fear monger, I’m simple stating what my experience was. This is what this forum is for. I’ll post more results at 4 month mark. Thank you everyone that is following.
  4. 3 month update: I decided to get a buzz cut because of the ugly duckling phase. crown: hairline: a lot of the hair here is growing upwards directions. Is that typical? Back donor: Does it appear patchy? Is that shock loss? Would love to know. Bottom left is where you really see it.
  5. False. Dr. Turan did not ask and explain this to me that someone else would work on my crown. I would like to add that the agreement says Dr. Turan does all the transplants. Also, I did not give a verbal consent. All I saw was Dr. Turan leaving for the night after finishing my hairline and someone behind me immediately started working on my crown. At this point what do you do? You travel thousands miles over seas and you have no choice now, might as well have them finish it. I just didn’t think it would be so poor, even if it was another “trained doctor”, which I highly doubt it was. I remember there being one other doctor a woman, and she was not behind me working on my crown. It was a man. And it was more than likely a nurse or medical assistant, as those were the only other people I saw there. And this about principle, respect, and honoring your agreement of Dr. Turan doing all the transplants. By the way, I refused to communicate with FUECapillar any further after they said they followed all hygienic procedures , which they did not. They tried contacting me, but I will not answer them. They rubbed me the wrong way by stating that none of the nurses had their masks down or the fact that one took the same gloves and put them back on and saying it was because of the drug that I misinterpreted it. I was alert and oriented through the whole procedure, and I know what a sterile field is, since I’m in the medical profession myself. I just hope my transplant experience will give other future transplant patients a better one. That’s all. I have nothing to gain from this. I’m just here to give my personal experience of what happened to me so that’s other members can be aware. I’ll continue to post updates on my hair.
  6. Yeah crown work look extremely bad, if you look at my crown with my full head of hair, they would just needed to hit small areas tightly. Not in random places so spread out apart, they placed graft where I always have air. Turns out my grafts placed is 2823, which I find really hard to believe, I did tend paying more after surgery consult. No one quote me more than 2000 for the whole case, including 4 other doctors. Again, if anyone is planning to use FueCapillar go with Gur. but yeah, what really bothered me was Tur not finishing up the transplant, which was part of agreement. He left and didn’t say anything to me. Next day he look at my hair for 10 seconds and said “good no infection” and never saw me again. If I was a doctor I couldn’t imagine not giving a patient 100%, especially if I came all the way from overseas. That really rubbed me in the wrong way when he just left without a word and not explaining anything. He just seemed and annoyed toward the end of procedure. I even refuse to follow up with their case manager for photo because I’m not traveling to Istanbul again to have them do any type revision. The hygiene practice of the assistance\nurses and Turan not doing crown implant is all I needed to know about his team.
  7. Yeah, I’m not happy about the crown coverage at all. Dr. Tur left for the night and they had another person do the crown. Which isn’t right because I paid for the service of the Dr. Tur doing the implantation. As for the temples, Dr. Tur did them, he seemed in hurry for the right side, so that’s probably why it looks less dense. Also, it doesn’t even look close to the 241 or grafts they mentioned they did on the crown. (I count a little over 100). It seemed toward the end of the procedure everyone was in a rush to leave. anyway, time will tell how results will look, I will post an update when I hit 3 months.
  8. if I could do it all over again, I would definitely go with Dr. Gur. Also, my case manager contacted me a few days after I made this thread, stating someone reached out them (former patient, must be from this forum, or maybe themselves saw this thread) about some of my hygienic complaints, he said I should keep things confidential. He told me because I was under a “muscle relaxant” I would misinterpret things, such as seeing one of the nurses take off their gloves and put them back on. He said they checked with all the nurses and none admitted they did removed the same gloves and put them on. First of all, I was given Xanax 1mg for surgery, I have Xanax prescribed PRN, so it’s not like I’m very drowsy, I still interpret and see things clearly. I was clear headed but relaxed. I definitely did see one of the nurses take off the sterile gloves and put them back on. Also, the same nurse had her surgical mask under beneath her nose, so her nose was sticking out and only covering her mouth. Toward the end of the surgery other nurses then had their masks off while still working on my grafts. I work in the medical field, so I know what a sterile field is. They did followed it very poorly, luckily I didn’t get any infection.
  9. All my scabs were gone at day 8, but I noticed the recipient area is flaky and dry, like if lightly massage it or scrape the outside area there is this dry almost scaly looking layer. should this be moisturized? I’ve been following operation order of wash with panthenol and the low ph soap clinic gave me. I’m just wondering if this is normal for recipient area now to feel dry and have this dry layer of skin on it. Should I just leave it alone and continue washing normally? Or should I keep using saline spray on it? Even though scabs are gone. I mean is it normal to begin with? thanks.
  10. You as well! Will be following your thread closely since we had the same surgeon.
  11. I'm seeing a lot of conflicting information on aspirin being prescribed after a hair transplant. I had Dr. Turan and it's standard for him to prescribe for 30 days after hair transplant first wash. What are your thoughts? Did you take it? Should I take it? I'm seeing mixed answers when I do my research, with most leaning not to take it. Shouldn't it be avoided so that the blood can coagulate around transplanted hairs? Other things I read is it reduces inflammation and speeds up healing.
  12. This is what donor area looks like, I took this today on day 3. Let me know your thoughts, the translator told me they took 16% of my donor area.
  13. Day 2: This is after wash and when I made it home. Currently very itchy, so unbearable itchy, actually. Was trying to sleep but couldn't, in fact I would accidently try to itch myself in my sleep but would catch myself, that's how bad it is righty now.. Kept spraying the saline they gave me. Any thoughts and comments would be appreciated, does this look good? How is density? Does this seem like 2300 grafts for hairline?
  14. Hello everyone, I finally got my hair transplant. I was originally quoted 1500-2000 for the the hairline reconstruction and density and 250 for the crown. My other option was Dr. Gur, who proposed 1300-1700 for the hairline and and 200-300 for the crown. I decided to go with Dr. Dogan Turan because I like the result of his work more and he seemed more into density by looking at his work, while Dr. Gur seems conservatives. This thread will be my story from Day 1 of arriving at Turkey and my personal experience with the staff and clinic. I would also like any input you may have on how my recipient and donor area looks, since many of you are experts and have had hair transplants. A little about me: 33 years old. On Finasteride 1mg and Topical Minoxidil since age 20. Always wanted a hair transplant, but I didn't think I needed until now, when my hairline really recessed and I couldn't style my hair the way I wanted it. This is what my hairline looked like before surgery, many people including other doctors quoted my saying I would need much less, Turan said I need more after initial quote. Here is what my crown looked like Sides I arrived to Istanbul on October 24, and was greeted with my driver who took me to get my bloods, afterwards, I stayed at the hotel until my surgery the next day on October 25th. I then met my translator Amed (John) who took me to see Dr. Turan, the interaction here was very brief, we didn't even discuss what type of hairline I wanted, it was just a few questionnaires regarding my goals for my hair and how long I have been on meds, etc. Questions I already submitted a while back to Dr. Turan. I was then taken to have my hair shaved and wash. I was then taking back to a room for payment, this is where they told me I would need to pay more then what I was originally quote for because they said I needed more grafts, about 500 more. This took me a bit by surprise, since my hair didn't change from July when I submitted my consult. They then took me to the room to draw my hairline, which I would say took about 10-15 minutes, they use metal calipers to check each side while drawing with a marker and also utilizing a laser for the middle point, to me it seemed a bit uneven on the right side, but I didn't get a chance to speak up until later because I was rushed to the operating table. They never at any point asked me what design I wanted, I had a lot of picture I wanted to show. It seems Dr. Turan used a standard design for his hairline, because the next day after surgery I saw the other gentleman with the same design. Anyway, back to the story When I go the to operating table this is then I told them that my right temple didn't look the same to my left, so they proceeded to measure it again and fix it while I lay on the table. This time I believe it looked even. The surgery took roughly 10 hours (I had two sessions), this is including the 45 minute lunch break. The most painful parts were numbing injections, which I will not sugar coat, they were 9/10 to 10/10 in pain. I had several. At one point during the implants I was feeling the implantation pen, which hurt, I was grimacing but Dr. Turan continue through the procedure, eventually he gave me anesthetic when I raised my hand. He seemed almost annoyed in a way. Here is some things I didn't like, toward the end of the surgery when my hairline was finished Dr. Tur left, never to be seen again. Didn't even bother to say bye. He just seemed tired. And the translator told me that one of the nurse or assistance would work on my crown, even thought my paperwork said Dr. Turan would do all implantation. I did notice throughout the procedure he did seem annoyed and didn't want to be there, not sure why. Also, a few of the techs weren't very sterile. For example, one dawned sterile gloves on, took them off to leave the room, and put the same sweaty inside out gloves on and just sprayed some saline on them. This I found uncalled for, and my translator was nowhere to be found, even on the other techs looked funny at them. They also had to keep re-opening my channels throughout the whole surgery to get more grafts, because they never seemed to get the right amount, I had 3 different techs open my grafts, so I didn't like this either, I expected more consistency Here is what it looks like the day after surgery, thoughts, does this look like 2500-2600 grafts? Is it packed nicely? They said they put 241 grafts in the crown (this is the assistance work I told you guys about when Dr. Turan left)
  15. Hello everyone, My story: 32 year old male, started balding age 21, have been on oral fin 1mg and Topical Minoxidil for 11 years now, never thought I would get a hair transplant but here I am. I finally wanted to fix my receding hairline and very slight thin area on my crown. I'm a Norwood 2v. Anyway, I have made an appointment with HLC Ankara a few weeks ago, $1000 payment made for appointment date, but I'm having second thoughts for a few reasons after FUECapilar reached out to me a week later. My first and foremost reason is after getting my consult with Fuecapilar, I noticed they are more in depth with initial evaluation, they wanted way more pictures than HLC, and they wanted videos of me combing through my donor hair. This gave me peace of mind and tells me that they are more ethical and thorough when it comes to choosing a potential patient. HLC Ankara wanted a few standard pictures, and they failed to point out that my crown was a bit thin. Also, what I didn't like about HLC, is they wanted 3 euros per graft, and they never mentioned "shaved" option in email, a user from another forum told me, they offered shaved head, to make the price 2.7 euro, this was a no brainer for me. My impression then was they were going to charge me, 3 euros for a shaved FUE procedure anyway, which I found fishy. I immediately emailed them and they suddenly said they will do 2.7 euro shaved. I did not like that this was not offered immediately, and I felt they were trying to screw me. Moving on, costs, costs, costs, I would almost save $3,000 USD by going with FUECapilar. I would even money with flights as well, since I won't be going to Ankara, but instead straight to Istanbul, which also would make travel easier. My other reason for having second thoughts with HLC is that I don't hear much about them anymore on forums, I enjoy seeing recent results. Even their youtube page is outdated with results. And I understand they are considered "elite", but I've heard they had some terrible results (seen a few on this forum) I'm just hearing they aren't that great anymore. Then again, every clinic is going to have a few terrible results out of many great ones, but I've yet to come across bad results from Dr. Tur and Gur. And it seems the last results I could find for HLC on this forum is all from 2022, making me think people are no longer seeing it as a viable option. I also don't see them recommended list for this website anymore, that and you don't know which surgeon you're getting. So, do I stay with HLC? If not, do I choose Dr. Turan or Dr. Gur? HLC quoted me 1500-2000 for hairline and whopping 1000 for crown. Price estimate: 6800 euro's FUE Dr. Turan quoted me 1500-2000 for hairline and 200-250 for crown 3250 euro DHI Dr. Gur quoted me 1300-1700 for hairline and 200-300 for crown. (only VIP package available for the date I want) 3000 euro FUE Also, is it true DHI is different from FUE??? I heard DHI is able to make hairline thicker. (I would also save about $400 dollars for the flight if I go straight Istanbul.) My ultimate goal is to restore my hairline. I'll add pictures shortly.
