Hi guys.. Its been 6 months now since my surgery. During this time I've been diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis which feels like I have a cap of hard to remove dandruff on my scalp. My derm prescribed Tsal shampoo. But after a month it hasn't done anything. I asked for a special injection to get rid off it but he stood firmly against it because he claims it can create collagen which can choke the transplanted follicles.
I really want to get rid of this fast. Has anyone had this issue after surgery and what was your treatment for it postop?

According to that test case, Ixekizumab caused the hair loss rather than improve it. The hair started growing back after he stopped taking it.
Wow I didnt know that. Would you post a source for that?
Also, what do you think of Rinvoq for LPP scarrig alopecia? Its an oral medication, btw.

Hi guys.. has anyone with scarring alopecia ever been treated with the new medication called Taltz (Ixekizumab)? Did it cure it? Did it restore your hair loss?

your body is already doing an excellent job and all you need to do is watch it grow!…remember this, “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it!”
Rings very true. Appreciate this insight.
Fyi to you and others here, the growth after 4 months postop looks remarkably good I admit. So I guess no min for me! But I will return to see Couto to get the remaining 1000 grafts. After that, I'll be freeeeee

In response to question two. Minoxidil no. Finasteride yes.
I cant take fin because my current state of health cannot afford its risks.

It’s the “initial” use of minoxidil and/or finasteride that can potentially induce shedding so I am of the opinion that it’s best to wait for the regrowth to take place before starting the drug for the first time
So in my case since its been now 4 months post op, if I take min will I experience shedding? I dont want to destroy 4 months of hair growth progress just to shed and start regrowth all over again.

Hi guys.. I'm 4 months post-op now and my doc suggested at the time of the surgery minoxidil to help the growth further. I have never it used due to potential sexual side effects but I'm having 2nd thoughts about that decision. I'm now thinking about taking it.. 2 questions:
1) I've got about 2 inches of hair growth so far. Will I experience any hair shedding? I dread that.
2) Has anyone who has used it had any sexual side effects?

Hi guys.. Its been now 4 months since my surgery and have been noticing some hairs on my right side of the scalp falling out. Its always on that side though, no where else. I notice it when I see hairs on my baseball cap when I take it off. Its not a lot mind you, but its enough to worry about and get goddamn upset over.
Is this normal that only one side of the scalp does this? Hair shedding should have stopped by now. Should I be worried?

I'm 4 months postop. I keep having this sharp pain in both temple areas that has lasted for 3 the past months. I experience it twice a week. Has anyone felt this pain before? What have you done to eliminate this pain?

Then wait at least 12-15 month so you know what you are working with. And also you are giving the donor Area time to come back from the trauma and that stuff.
good luck tho and update your journey here if you can do that
Yeah my doc told me to wait a year. But I requested to see him earlier and he said he can assess me sooner as long as everything leading up to that point looks good enough.

Advising a patient to have a hair transplant every 10 months would be trolling. Do you have any idea how traumatizing a hair transplant is to your scalp? The scalp needs time to heal.
Every 2 years is ideal for full recovery.
I understand but 2 - 3 years is just too much wait time. From what I've been observing here, 90% of patients dont wait that long for a 2nd round of transplants.

I would wait 15 months.
New hair can still sprout up around the 12 month and can take a few more months to mature
Nahhh.. what others have said about waiting 10 -12 months sounds more sound.

2-3 years would be the best

if you want to have a procedure for the density in the transplanted area, you should wait at least 12 months to access your overall result.
Ok I gotcha. I want more density in the area already transplanted. But damn, 12 months is a long time! Hope the doc can make an exception at 10 months

Why do you want to get it 4 month after the first transplant? And did you first do it in the hairline and wand to work with the crown now or?
Cuz I feels that I needed a bit more in the front temples area.

How soon after a transplant can you get another transplant? Is it possible to get a 2nd transplant 4 months after your 1st transplant?

According to Google;
On average, hair tends to grow between 0.5 and 1.7 centimeters per month. This is equivalent to around 0.2–0.7 inches.
At just under 4 months-ish you're around 0.4 inches a month, so well within the normal range. Given your scalp has been undergone significant trauma i would say that's perfectly normal.
Honestly, my hair before the operation grew much faster than what google suggests. But more importantly, your google quote doesnt take into account postop hair growth rate.
If there are others who'd like to give their experience, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Hi everyone.. It's been 15 weeks since my transplant, havent cut my hair since but the length is a mere 1.5 inches. I can't believe this is happening and I'm going crazy over this! When will my hair finally grow at the normal rate again??

After 11 weeks i think you can start with your usual shampoo after consulting with your doctor.
Are you sure?? Dr. Couto told me to use whatever gentle shampoo 2 weeks after my surgery.

I doubt it. It's probably just because your scalp is tight as the skin heals.
you've had several thousand cuts to your head and that will take time to fully get back to normal.
I know but it feels like the pinches of pain in my temple areas are contributing to the shedding which I interpret as permanent hair loss. I then end up massaging these areas in the hopes that that will mitigate the pinch pain. And as I've said, this has been going on intermittently several weeks after the surgery.. I'm 3 months postop.

Yes. Is your scalp still numb in places? From what I understand, it's the process of repair as the inevitable damage caused by the surgery is repaired. Nerves can be damaged or cut but will be regenerated. I would say that would be up to around 6 months.
Appreciate that. Last question.. As stated, I'm 3 months postop. At times during sleep I rest the side of my head on the pillow because I cant sleep constantly in one direction facing up. The problem with resting on the side of my head on my pillow is that upon waking I feel discomfort (but no pain) on the temple area and fear that may affect my grafts. Again, its not pain but discomfort. Do you think this is cause for alarm even at 3 months postop? Do you think this is cause for alarm?

Shedding is so common that it is rare when it does not occur.
Good way of looking at it
