Who is your surgeon and after  3 fut surgeries i find it a little bit off that you still need grafts via fue for the midscalp.

I have fine straight hair with low hair/graft ration which is making it difficult to achieve adequate density. But hopefully my recent session will be satisfactory after it has grown in and matured

  2. I have just had my third FUT focusing on the frontal third. This time it was roughly around 1700g, bringing the total to 5600g for all surgeries. My doctor suggested performing an FUE on the midscalp and the anterior part of the crown, just two weeks after the previous surgery. Is this safe, or would it be more prudent to wait?

  3. I had my HT 2 month and 19 days ago, and being in winter I didn't bother with bringing a hat for a long walk around the city as I didn't expect a cloudless sky. The temperature was 17 C, UV index 2-3 and there was no sunburn symptoms of any sort. Added to that I'm of an olive complextion so I never got burned even in the summer. So is there a risk for the survival of the grafts or am I in the clear?

    @lastfolliculestanding,

Everything you stated sounds perfectly normal. I don’t know exactly what your clinics postoperative instructions say but at seven days postop, the follicles are fully secured underneath the surface of the scalp so it would essentially take a surgical procedure to remove them. If you are gently massaging your scalp in the shower with your fingertips moving them in a circular motion, you were doing exactly what I’ve done all four of my procedures and that’s exactly what it’s typically advised to do.

moreover, the photos you presented look perfectly normal.  The red dots that you are seeing are likely just tiny wounds that are healing where the incisions were made. There should be a little hair coming out of each of the dots and those that don’t have a hair, perhaps those hairs have started to shed already which would be a little early but is still possible. Your transplant hair will typically start shedding between 4 to 6 weeks after surgery and around 1.5 months to two months, you will look like you haven’t had any surgery. Between 3 to 5 months she will start seeing and feeling signs of new growth that will take up to 12 to 18 months to fully grow in, thicken, darken and mature.

surgical hair restoration is a process that takes time. I’ll be honest, when I first heard about this I was really nervous and worried that it was a scam and that I was being sold a lie. But rest assured, this is not the case. I’ve been through four procedures and I now have what looks like a completely full head of hair and without my procedures I would be completely bald in a Norwood 5A / borderline 6 pattern.

Sorry for the long winded answer and provide information you didn’t ask for but I figured it’s better to be thorough.

    All the best,

    Rahal Hair Transplant

Thanks, for the reassuring response. And true that one can easily lose composure and start panicking early on the process even though I have been through it before.

  5. I started washing the scabs at the end of the 7th day after surgery. After soaking my head with shampoo for a couple of minutes I massageed the scabs with my fingertips in a circular motion with mild to moderate intensity, nothing vigorous or forciful.

There was no bleeding, as in trickling or running blood or anything. Just these little dots of blood around the grafts which are thankfully still in place. Also I was taking ibuprofen for couple of days prior, can its anti-platelet properties be the cause? And Should I be concerned about the survivability of the grafts?

Can you post some pictures from before and after your procedure please.

It gives a better gauge of things imo to judge from and also its good you're on medication to prevent further loss as much as possible but being 24 and NW4/5 isn't a great sign and you didn't say how long pre-op you had been on medication for. Usually if your hair loss has been that aggressive, waiting till 25+is better advised but FUT is probably a sensible route to have gone down with such aggressive hair loss.

2 years on medication and I can say, cautionaly and reluctantly, my hair loss is stable-ish. I went for FUT for the fear of the dreaded NW7 scenario. As you can see the hairline isn't inappropriately low but I regard it too low for my level of hair loss or maybe I'm being obsessive

  7. So I'm 24, NW4-5, on Dut and Minoxidil. 6 months ago I had an FUT which was 2200FU that was supposed to follow my natural hairline up until the midscalp.

For some reason the right side has been dropped with the angle closed which I fear, long term speaking, won't be a good thing given being in early twenties with the possibility of the norwood reaper being on the prowl and even with medications, you just can't be so sure.

What should be my plan for the 2nd hair transplant, just pack in more grafts or remove the grafts implanted below my natural native hairs? 20220526_131314.thumb.jpg.1909cc9bb5525c9db42989aca987055c.jpg20220526_131334.thumb.jpg.ca2161c86cf423755e40be4137e4fe77.jpg

For sure, how is the scar looking at the moment? I would be interested to see your pics. I’m not aware of the Drs/Clinics in Egypt, how did you end up choosing them? Be good to have the name of the Dr/Clinic 👍🏽

His name is Dr. Ahmed Nour-Eldin. And for being nationally renowned and board certified I made the choice to have it locally instead of abroad. One thing you will find difficult when choosing a surgeon in Egypt is the meager and utterly lacking display of before and after photos. Which I get it, it's still a taboo here, but it makes navigating the thicket of good and bad surgeons extremely difficult.

My scar is healing nicely for being 6 months only. Hope with time it will contract more. I have no photos for a fair comparison between pre/postop. So you have to take my word for it— ok-ish, mostly single, good angles and direction. Just the density is not there and I honestly don't get his thought process to cover front to midscalp with such a miniscule number of grafts. But maybe he was testing ground or settling base or something

From personal experience… be careful in going for another FUT too soon, you don’t want any potential risk of the scar stretching… this happened to me and i regretted it. I had my 2nd FUT approx 12 months after the 1st. It’s difficult to tell how the laxity will be without giving it a chance to properly recover, it also depends on who is doing the FUT

that seems reasonable but cant scalp exercises help to mitigate the laxity problem?

Could we have some more details for your FUT? Who the Dr/Clinic was and if you can share any pics? Not many FUTs are being performed these days, was it in the US? Thanks 🙏

Actually I went to one of the very few, single digit old guards still doing FUT in Egypt. I had a consultation and he opined that FUT is most suitable for me, for being a 24 with such aggressive pattern and deemed FUE just too risky even with preventive treatment. which I think is the right choice even having to trade it off with a liner scar

It is likely you are still the same pattern - but with hair.  You typically want to give it a good 12 months to mature the results.  Nothing wrong with moving forward a bit quicker. You'll just have both procedures growing at the same time. This will yield the most results in a shorter amount of time.  You do, however, want to wait 8+ mo to allow the scar to heal before doing it again.  Remember, it is common for a doctor to re-excise the original scar.

Are you doing any type of medical therapy to help you with retention?

Yes, currently on daily .5m duta and minoxidil. and as much as I would love to stay my hair loss is stabilized, you just cant be so sure when it comes to progressive conditions such as AGA. but it is halted for the meantime at least.

  12. So I was NW4-5 before I underwent 2200 grafts FUT surgery that was sprinkled and dusted all over the frontal and mid scalp. My verdict? not impressed but I understand that you can get so mush with such a small number. And honestly a second round just seems inevitable to me for adding density in the frontal third and refining the hairline design.

So am I risking the grafts in any way by having a 2nd transplant only after 9 months, and what drawbacks that can happen if I went along?
