The challenge you'll face is that you'll get responses that are extremes - people that saw exceptionally early growth and others than grew late. The best way to get an idea is to review past cases.

I was really quick - 6 weeks for the beginning of visible growth in the hairline and coverage at 4 months. 6-8 were thickening up and that continued until about 14-15 months.

It's pretty useless information though as that's individual to me and the surgeon and procedure. If I had a second procedure it may be completely different.

Generally I believe overall health and particularly age has the largest impact.

Thats true. I've been in contact with my clinic and they've been helpful in providing feedback.  It's always a waiting game so we all just look for others experiences on here every now and than for whatever reason. I'm just going to keep waiting and see how things turn out at the end of 1 year

@Hah6788887It varies from person to person though from what i have seen in normal cases people see growth upto 8-9 months and after that whatever is grown gets densify and mature upto 12-14 months

I appreciate the response. I'm sure it varies but I'm looking more for peoples own experience with their hts

Though the outcome and timings varies from person to person and many other factors , from my experience the biggest difference can be seen after 8 months and than from 9th month it will progress slowly and steadily and make the implanted hairs thicker and fuller and on crown it takes around 12 months plus to notice a considerable change..but again it varies from person to person ...

That seems super late in the process but I do get that everyone is different so makes sense

For me the real kicker was at month eight. New hairs were still popping up after this and hair became thicker. The scalp donor finally felt like it was going back to looking more like it did pre op.
As a Norwood 7 I had great growth from month four onwards. But the big change occurred later down the track.

So you didnt have much to show till month 8? You mustve been worried by that point lol was it your crown you did or the hair line

I did the same as gatsby mentioned above ..started with 2.5 for 2 months and thn 5mg...am taking since long without any side effects and it helped me very much..my hair strands got fuller and more thicker and that helps in providing good coverage....actually upto 5mg is considered as a low dosage for this drug..bt still you can consult your surgeon for this....

So it did make a significant impact. How long till u saw the improvement?

Don't get hair removal laser; you might need all those hair if you run out of grafts in future FUE
started Loniten at 2.5 mg for a month, then upped to 5mg, got sides within a week or two, then tapered down, the sides didn't go away. used it for 2-2.5 months total, I had low BP, puffy face and light headedness too. I guess if you're going oral for the sake of convenience rather than being a non responder to topical (that can be offset by things I mentioned earlier (i.e tretenoin+ microneedling) and by using the liquid rather than the foam) i suggest to stay topical. like I said, it doesn't cause issues in the majority of the people but the people getting sides aren't uncommon.

Did all your sides go away after discontinuation? And u had no issues until you upped the dose?. I personally would not up the dose from 2.5

Yeah I'm not doing topical because one , the shedding and because how inconvenient it is. I won't be able to stick to that. I fully understand thar some people can get sides. My plan if I do start is do the lowest possible dosage and still to that.

Did u see any improvement in your hair thickness when u took it?

Yeah, it goes away with discontinuation. sometimes may take 3-5 months, in some cases you may be stuck with the sides for a long time, but in vast majority of the cases they're gone. Other non serious side effects like body hair etc will not go away. let's say, you grew hair on your back or your hair increased on your hands or thighs etc- they will not go away. the only hair that return to baseline are your head hairs, the rest wont. that's why many people with patchy or no beard use topical minoxidil+ microneedling/dermarolling on the areas of facial hair to grow beard and once it grows it's forever.

I've tried it personally but got the irregular heart beats, so reverted back to topical+microneedling+tretenoin and DUT as a 5AR blocker.

What doesage did you try it at? The irregular heart beat started after how long of taking it? And after discontinuation, how long till it went away? The other hairs I'm not concerned about as I'm already very hairy and I don't mind getting laser hair removal if needed. I'm just concerned about the heart stuff potentially

All right, I'll give you a somewhat detailed anwser as a person who has spent years researching hair loss.

Please stay away from oral minoxidil. Search for it's side effects- it can mess with your heart rhythm, there's a reason it comes with a big black warning label in EU. Stick to topical minox. If you're not responding to topical (40% or so dont do due to the absence or low availability of the sulfotransferase enzyme in the scalp) then add 0.1 or 0.5% tretenoin to your scalp directly by massaging it and leaving it for an extended period of time OR mix it daily into the minoxidil you use (dont mix it in the bottle, rather use a syringe with 1-2 ml of minox and add a dab of tretenoin. Another thing you can do is use 0.5mm dermaroller/microneedlie weekly OR 1 mm once every two weeks, OR 1.5mm once every month to improve minox absorption and to induce growth factors into your hair follicles.
add finasteride or dutasteride  too- without it the gains you will get on minox will be temporary and sooner or later you will lose your hair

if you get sides with fin, power through it, IT WILL GO AWAY. Many just try it and quit it, dont do that. You will doubt yourself but dont quit fin and in 2,3 months time the sides will be gone. if the sides still persist, then get 0.5 mg rather than 1 mg fin. If you can get your hands on ru58841 or better yet pyrilutamide (be careful as many are fake selling it, will be available soon) then add it to your regiment.

My guess would be if the oral minoxidil messes with your heart rhythm, you stop taking it and you'll be fine? I mean, Im just doing my research. I know most drugs that are ingested come with sides so just trying to ask people who've tried it. Have you personally tried it ?

  9. I'm just 90 days post op and I don't feel much other than a couple of little prices. I'm a diffuse thinner so I've had my other hairs grow down and also around the areas where I had the grafts placed so it's hard to tell exactly what's happening. I know it's early but just curious as to what you guys felt around 90 days post op

  10. My hairloss  has been very stable for a while now. Maybe about 8 years or longer Id say. Im hoping to keep it that way. Im considering all options though just in case it does progress in the future

I haven't jumped on it because in the past i had a very bad reaction to a medication. It wasn't for hair loss. So I'm very cautious with what I put in my body and try to try natural things before I jump on medication. I am consider medication now though.

My surgery with dr bisanga was a huge investment. I do want to provide more details and photos about that soon. Just been very busy to write up a really detailed post. I'm a naturally really hairy person. I actually had about 330 grafts take from my leg as well and implanted on my scalp as I wanted to know if those hairs would grow as Dr bisanga saw the hairs and said they look promising. So thats another potential thousands of grafts I may have available as my donor is used up. I also believe I still have a lot of chest hair. My goal is to maybe do some smaller surgeries to reinforce areas as they get weaker but also Im concerned about this surgery. Obviously the result will take time but I have some concerns that i feel like Ill never to have addressed in the future regarding my temples. I'll get more into this surgery in a detailed post but yeah, Im just trying to see anything I can try. For now. im not trying anything topical as to not mess with my new grafts.

to be honest i'm really surprised you aren't already on meds. From your numerous post-op Bisanga posts its clear your surgery is a huge investment to you (as it should be), so its a bit head-scratching you aren't on a DHT med already....

agree. so sick of the DHT med question. Not just on HRN, but for all the forums, I wish the DHT med question could just be stickied.

It's a very straightforward question/topic, but apparently people like to dig in their heels and go in circles about it.

After my hair transplant, my hairs grew slightly longer for around 23-25 days, and then the shedding started. All those hairs that grew longer, or a majority of them had shedded.

I did have some hairs that didn’t grow longer at all, and they remained after the shed and are still here 2 months into my transplant.

Yeah I have some grow at about 21 days post op. Some had shredded without growing. I was hoping they'd just keep growing but I'm guessing the majority will shed and than grow back. I just find it interesting that they appear to be growing but still will shed
