  1. Maybe need to come to the conclusion that at 42 I’m too old and medications won’t work on me
  2. March update don’t see any progress , I’ve been using the medications religiously
  3. Update after 2 months of minoxidil plus finasteride. I have also started micro needling a couple of weeks ago not sure whether I see any improvements
  4. How much pressure do you apply? im doing 16pins at 0.75mm and it hurts even when i don’t apply much pressure. and is it ok to do twice a week? Coz once every 5 days just doesn’t work for me . I either do it once per week or twice per week
  5. Is it good if every five day I do the following at night before bed: I wash my hair with Nizoral 2% , apply minoxidil 5% , do 10 mins dermapen , apply minoxidil 5%, go to sleep
  6. I see, but how much pressure do you actually apply? And do you press 3 times in the same spot before moving to the next spot?
  7. Thank you what pen do you have? do you use cartridges with 11 / 16/ / 24 /36 /42 / or nano?
  8. I have bought a Dr Pen M8 where could I find info about - how to do it (for how long, etc) - how often - what time of the day (eg before or after minoxidil) - what length of needles
  9. Wow thank you everyone! It’s really important for me to have all of you guys support. I will keep doing what I’m doing and patiently wait
  10. Update after one month of finasteride and minoxidil . Not only things seem not to improve , it looks like they are getting worse !?! 😭
  11. Thanks . I don’t even know whether it’s something that can be done at home or do I have to go to a center ?
  12. The only reason why I haven’t started is that I had absolutely no idea that was a thing! I’ll look into it
  13. Hey everyone I will be documenting my journey here. I am Tony, 42yo, from Australia, I have decided to have a hair transplant next year. I will be flying somewhere overseas to have a hair transplant. But first, I have started taking finasteride 1mg and minoxidil 5% and will continue doing so for as long as these medications make me improve. When I no longer see any improvements, that’s when I will fly out The photos below are from 1 November , the day I started finasteride and minoxidil. I will post updates every 1st day of the month. Feel free to ask any questions.
  14. I see but think about it this way , see if I’m going wrong anywhere. if it’s DHT and I went for option A) 100% extraction performed by leading surgeon, but no involvement in implantation (performed by his technicians) then the leading surgeon would have to be there for the whole duration of the procedure because the hair is transplanted as it is extracted However going for option B) crucial extraction and crucial implantation by leading surgeon (rest of extraction and rest of implantation performed by his technicians) then the leading surgeon could be there for the beginning of the procedure and then just leave and let the technicians do all the work So I thought that option A would be better. Am I getting anything wrong here or am I not making any sense?
  15. Hey guys, just wondering , if you had the possibility to choose between a leading surgeon being involved in either one of these two options , which one would you choose option A) 100% extraction performed by leading surgeon, but no involvement in implantation (performed by his technicians) option B) crucial extraction and crucial implantation by leading surgeon (rest of extraction and rest of implantation performed by his technicians)
  16. @mrmane85 should I get 1mg fin + 2.5mg minx compounded? Or 1mg + 5mg compounded? or a total of 2.5mg compounded ( i.e. 1mg+1.5mg)?
  17. Thanks @mrmane85 but the thing is that even if I had saved more money in a year’s time I wouldn’t necessarily want to spend it for the transplant - I’ve got a mortgage and need to direct resources there too. I think AU$ 10-12k, AU$15k at the very very most inclusive of flight and accommodation is what I’m willing to part ways with. No more than that. and I’m a NW IV I’d say , in need of around 3,000 grafts , perhaps slightly north of it. re: committing long term to minoxidil for me it would be much easier to commit to taking a pill (i.e. a 5mg minoxidil + 1mg finasteride) than commit to applying foam every day . That’s because I have already committed to taking the finasteride anyway , so a 1mg pill or a 6mg pill would not make a difference. I just don’t know whether it’s worth committing to the 6mg compound rather than the 1mg - is there any real evidence of better results ?
  18. @mrmane85 do you suggest I do my hair transplant done ASAP or rather I wait for another 8 / 10 / 12 months? I have just started finasteride. Another question is , if I take Minoxidil, and the minoxidil grows back some hair, and then I discontinue the Minoxidil but continue the finasteride, would I lose the hair I gained with Minoxidil or would I maintain them coz I keep taking the Fin?
