In that video I see what you're saying, the right side is definitely lagging behind... post op looked good. I wonder is there are just a lot of late growers in there and caliber lagging. I can see why the clinic is like let's see in a few months but I totally get your concern. Hang in there brother nothing to do but wait and  know you covered your bases and did your part. I'd still be hopeful by some measure here, concerned yes, but hopeful.

I see what you mean but it hasn’t improved in 3 months. Also, the gaps don’t have any hair.. not even vellus 😞

  2. I’ve spoken with the clinic a few times (including a different clinic doctor named Dr. Vieira) and they told me to wait until the 12 month mark to make any conclusions and to start using Dut every day and to add clobetasol 2x a week indefinitely. It’s been about 3 weeks of this new protocol with no improvement.

I’m just so confused because the left side is pretty good and the right side looked so good even at the 21 day mark. What could have caused the right side to deteriorate so much. I struggle to understand how it could be a scalp issue I have since the left side grew ok.

@Melvin- Moderator I really respect your opinion - do you have any thoughts on this (especially as to why the right side is growing poorly compared to the left)?

  3. 8 months and 1 week. Don’t think this are getting any better. It’s gotten to the point where if I have my hair too short or too long, people can clearly tell that my right side is extremely thin… not something I thought I’d have to worry about after a 3,000 graft transplant. Crown also isn’t looking too good compared to pre-op. 😞ADB92779-E27A-4820-BCF6-57CA733F6572.thumb.jpeg.3b5d70c641a8edcdbaf0ebf5c2b7c3b6.jpeg9559F388-464B-4FB7-8F73-6DE2DD4DFED6.thumb.jpeg.405a2900305bb779f19f552939c2cf86.jpegA0FCAC92-CA8A-4029-A36E-C057BE9F1E1D.thumb.jpeg.eaaf4e26dc5c08bca36833a2b5c8dd96.jpeg

  4. About 7 months and 1 week at this point and starting to give up. Been in talks with the clinic and they said to wait until the 12th month mark. Until then, they said to use Clobisdin (clobetasol) once a day, and to increase my minoxidil dosage to 5mg and dut to 3x a week.

I’m pretty devastated to be honest and wish I’ve never had the transplant. I got it initially to stop thinking about my hair and if anything I’m thinking more about it when I consider that I used up 3,000+ grafts to get a wispy hairline with a bunch of scarring in my donor area. Thanks for the support everyone but I think this will be my last post on this unless it improves.

    Hello ObtuseAlbatross133, How are you?

We would like to tell you that the evolution is within normal, being possible to notice that one entry evolves more slowly than the other. So it is important to wait until 12 months, where the process can progress to a better situation.

The density obtained with a transplant is normally lower than the natural density, because the same density would be impossible in a single transplant, since the follicles present a skin that makes a physical barrier of approximation. On the other hand, if the density reached were similar to the natural density, the vascularization process would be compromised and consequently the growth.

It is normal that some short hairs that have not been able to be released at the time of washing continue to remain. It is important to continue with the pharmacological treatment and wash the hair daily with greater intensity using the fingertips to release the hairs that have not fallen after 20 days.

The hair will gain body and thickness month by month. It is still too early to obtain such a rapid evolution. It is advisable to disconnect from the hair as stress increases estrogens and androgens, causing low growth.

If you have any doubt you can contact us to offer you the support and information you need.

We remain at your disposal if necessary. Best regards.

    Hi Ignacio,

Thanks for your message. My concern, however, is not that my transplanted hair doesn’t’ match native density. I did my research prior to the transplant and knew that achieving native density would not be possible and I am ok with that. My concern is that it seems like the majority of the follicles of the hairs transplanted on my right side did not sprout and even if they did, they were not growing and easily removed by tweezers (without pulling at all almost).

Here’s another picture to see what I mean:

As you can see, there are a lot of gaps, including in the hairline!

My 3 week post-op pictures tell a different story:

I followed all the post-operative instructions, have been taking dutasteride and oral minoxidil, eat healthy, exercise, and am only 27 with a great thick donor. Despite all this, the density is simply not there and I fail to see how things will improve because I am already past the 6 month mark and those gaps I show have zero hairs sprouting out to cover it.

I would have been happy with a “poor yield” of 50% on the right side compared to my 3 week post op pictures! What’s sad is not only that the yield seems much less than 50% to me, but all the grafts I’ve potentially lost forever 😞

welcome to the world of hair transplants. The one criticism I have is the donor extractions are by done by non physicians. you really think that an employee getting paid 20 euros and hour will have the same level of commitment as the doctor whose name is on the surgery?

The second criticism I have is the extractions are taken clearly out of Safe donor area. I know FUE surgeries tend to push the boundaries with regards to SDA, but this particular photos they are extracting straight from almost the crown areas. If those were the hair transplanted into your right side, they may have not grown as between their natural hair death cycle and trauma of hte surgery they may have said peace out.

Having said that it is not a bad result and you are early. I would wait 12 months before judging and if needed go for a top up. 3000+ grafts for that area i think is too much in one pass. It may have overloaded the circulatory capacity of your scalp.

Think of a field receiving water by irrigation. If it has enough water for 1000 trees but you plant 2000 the results will suffer. i think similar concept applies in hair transplant.

Sigh this is so sad.. I’m pretty devastated to be honest 😢

Agreed. I have still yet to see a case that looked poor at 6 months turn out fantastically later on. I think clinics say that to kick the can down the road, and posters to make the patient feel better about their current predicament.

Anyway OP, whilst being honest I doubt the final result of this surgery will meet your expectations fully, it will continue to get better, and your lack of hair loss/great donor mean a second smaller revision surgery will definitely get you across the line.

I know from experience it's not a nice feeling when things don't go to plan.

Have you spoken to the clinic yet?

I just messaged them today. Do you think they would make me pay for a touch-up or offer any sort of refund for unsatisfactory results?

  8. Hey all, posting an update. It’s been about 6 months and 1 week since my procedure (been on dut 3x a week and 2.5mg oral min since) and I’m a bit disappointed to say the least. My left side has grown in fairly well (albeit lacking a bit of density). My right side, however, is causing me a great deal of concern as the thickness is quite poor and there are a bunch of short stubbly hairs that do not seem to have grown AT ALL since the procedure. In fact, if I pull very lightly with tweezers, they come right out 😞. I would estimate that 20 to 30% of the grafts implanted on my right side have come out and even those 30% are of very poor quality and thin. Is there anything that can be done in this case? I feel so terrible having spent so much time and money on an elite surgeon only to have poor results such as these.

    Here are some pictures.

    Left side (slightly better side):

    Right side (worse side):

Follicles I very easily pulled out with tweezers just today (there are many more of these types which I’m hesitating to pull because it accentuates the gaps in my right temple):image.thumb.jpg.29a266435bc44ec3a61297eada4fc362.jpg

I really appreciate any advice/feedback on this as I’m quite desperate and worry that the majority of my grafts died or were dead prior to implantation 😢.

    Thanks everyone!
