  1. I want to make it abundantly clear how highly I respect Dr Laorwong.

He is a world class surgeon, produces consistent results, well priced, has excellent customer service (in most cases replies to email himself within 48hrs), is a member and contributor to many Hair Transplantation peer communities or societies.

I highly recommend anyone considering a hair transplant to put Dr Laorwong at the top of their list.

Having a transplant is a life altering procedure – either positively or negatively – so going into this process there is always uncertainty about the result, the experience overall and the surgeon. So after my experience I can say Dr Laorwong is an outstanding professional with the ethics and morals you hope to get when selecting a surgeon.

My 12 month results weren’t what I or Dr Laorwong were expecting (I have thick hair and a dense donor area), I had a maybe 60-70% graft survival. Now don’t let this deter you as there are many variables that go into a successful procedure. I don’t blame the surgery for 1 second, there are variables after the surgery that may have contributed to my overall result. Around the 10 month mark I grew my hair out and I could style it to a point where I was happier than I was without the procedure but was still wandering what if…

So let me take you back to the 7 month mark when I began to become concerned…..(I know 7 months isn’t long enough but after seeing so many other great results at 7 months I started to become worried)….. I had patchy growth, a pink scalp, mild folliculitis and genuine concern that something was wrong so I emailed a photo to Dr Laorwong with a brief explanation – he replied within 6 hours that it looked like something had gone wrong, he expected better results but don’t worry keep in contact and if at 12 months we both aren’t happy with the result he will correct it.

Let that sink in - Dr Kongiat Laorwong himself replied within 6 hours and offered to correct it.

In 1 email Dr Laorwong immediately took away all of my concern and anxiety – these are the elite level ethics and morals only a select few possess and are the reason why I would strongly recommend Dr Laorwong to anyone.

He could have hidden behind terms and conditions fine print, international boundaries, me not following instructions or all manner of options to avoid any portion of ownership – yet he didn’t, not for a single moment.

So just after the 12 month mark we arranged a second procedure of 1800+ grafts...which he did free of all charges. See the photos below.

Thank you to all of those who have been reaching out and my apologies for not replying. I made the personal decision to keep this information private up until now out of professional courtesy to Dr Laorwong….as I have seen these scenarios play out online negatively with no benefit to either party.

I am happy to respond again to any who have questions - thank you for your understanding.

I would like to summarize by saying I am happy I began this process, I am happy I went with Dr Laorwong and I would recommend Dr Laorwong to anyone – in my experience and this information is proof that Dr Laorwong genuinely cares about your result.

  2. 😮 such detail…respect once again.

On the medication note he is correct. It will help keep and thicken the hair you have remaining and possibly grow some new.

I learnt the hard way in my early 20s after going to a laser hair growth clinic and having exceptional results - the very young female “technician” (actually just a young salesperson) told me to stop the oral medication and topical minoxidil and just pay for LLLT - within 6 months I had regressed and the cycle started again.

I can only speak for myself but I have had no side effects from taking Finasteride and oral minoxidil (branded Loniten in Australia) for around 20 years - and have just switched from Finasteride to Dutasteride….the only side effect is that it grows all of your body hair 🤣….I could seriously plait my butt hair. Seriously though if there are concerns about the performance of your downtown and whilst everyone is different my libido is a strong as it was in my teens (much to my wife’s disgust) and I have 2 healthy children.

So all the best hope and I hope you grow strong 💪.

It takes courage to take the leap in the first place and even more to share your story and vulnerabilities….good luck.

@Ramons Hi mate, if you don't mind me asking - I noticed you left your hair long when you originally got the surgery. Was there any reason you decided to eventually cut it short or just a preference?

Only reason I ask is, I'm considering Dr Laorwong and appreciate that he offers unshaven FUE (meaning I could leave my existing hair long to cover the aftermath of the HT).

    Cheers,

    M

Absolutely no thought behind it at all.

They asked how much I wanted shaved and I said do what was easiest for them.

I had every intention of shaving the lot for the regrowth time frame after anyways so it didn’t bother me at all. As you can see from the pics I didn’t have much chance concealing it anyways.

After the 4 week safety period I shaved it all anyways and have kept doing so.

  4. 4 month update....almost - will be 4 months on November 20th and so far so good.

    • recovery after procedure went well, scabbed up and weirdly enjoyed rubbing them off
    • shedding immediately followed at around 4 weeks
    • started seeing growth around 2 months
    • my donor area bounced back really quick - couldn't pick it with the eye in the first month and felt "full" again after 3 months
    • my recipient site remained pink until recently but my scalp tends to do that if I cut anyways
    • temple areas are going nuts - I trim my head every 3 weeks with a beard trimmer on its longest setting
    • little bit of shock loss on the top of the head which is now filling out
    • the "line" across my crown has always been there and probably looks worse as the photos were taken after sleeping

Since the procedure Dr Laorwong has continued to respond to my questions often within 48hrs and in most cases the same day.

Early days for me yet but I am very happy with the whole process and procedure so far - from speaking to Dr Laorwong, the hotel stay, travel and the recovery.

If anyone is considering it and has questions feel free to reach out...only to happy to share my experience.

Wow you're an oral minoxidil veteran. What made you use it back when you began? It wasn't a popular treatment at all at the time as far as I know.

I went to 3 hair loss clinics back in the day - Innovative Hair Loss Solutions, Advanced Hair and Ashley and Martin.

Whilst I only paid for treatment at IHLS all 3 provided the same treatment plan. So I eventually just asked my Dr for the prescriptions and also sourced my own LLLT device.

All 3 clinics prescribed Loniten, Finasteride to go along with their overpriced shampoos, vitamins and laser therapy.

Hey mate, fellow aussie here 👍.  Thank you for sharing your experience with Dr Laorwong.

Curious to know where you were able to get oral Minoxidil? Assuming you need a prescription to purchase?

Apologies if I didn’t reply…only just noticed this now.

Yes a prescription is required. I got mine prescribed originally through a hair loss clinic and have remained on it ever since.

Now my GP just does the repeats online and the price has dropped massively over the years.

    Hi,

How is it going? Any more pics?

Did they give you movies to watch or anything? I was reading some places give you entertainment to help pass the time.

Did you take sleeping pills or anything during the procedure? Just wondering how alert you were going back to the hotel.

    Thanks!

No entertainment…just some meds that take the edge off.

The chair is uncomfortable…but maybe cos I am 43 with fused discs or maybe cos I had 3800 grafts 🤷‍♂️

Sorry for double posting, but was there any particular reason you decided to choose Dr Laorwong over Dr Path?

    No particular reason.

Saw results of his patients, prompt service, good reviews, Dr Laorwong does the surgery, he is a reserved man like myself (although his is probably because of intellect), had availability when suited.

Small Update. I am leaning towards Dr. Kongkiat Laorwong.

    He wrote me the following:

"Your donor hair is good, I think 6000 grafts can be extracted.
We can do 2 separate sessions.
First, 2500-3000 grafts for the frontal area, 1 year later do the rest.
I normally do 3000-4000 grafts in big balding patients.

You can stay a bit longer for LLLT , we can remove the scabs for you after 1 week.

This price we include free PRP injection during the procedure and post op medications, wound care and LLLT (low level light laser treatment) for 5 days.  "

I have a few questions please. I plan on staying in Thailand for a couple of weeks after surgery to make sure everything is ok.

    1) Would my crown benefit from SMP? I wonder if I could have that done after scabs have been removed. Or is that too close to when I had the HT. I figure I could have a more complete look while waiting for the HT the following year.

I tried searching, but no luck seeing if others have had done something similar.

    2) I can buy topical Fin in BKK? I used to use minoxidil and felt ok using it. But someone warned me of potential heart issues. I caught a small case of Covid (I am vaxxed-so easy recovery) but had weird minor lingering things. So I am trying to be cautious

    3) Thailand requires a PCR or proof of covid vax. Will a photo be acceptable? Or a copy? Don't have the original on me (traveling).

    4) If I get there a couple of days before, I can find a neck pillow, etc right? Plenty of time?

    5) any suggestions on where to stay?

    6) Is there value in trying to add another PRP session right before I head home? Just trying to improve my chances of a good recovery.

    Thanks!

    1) I just had 3800 grafts by Dr Laorwong and would highly recommend him

    2) I have taken oral finasteride and minoxidil for over 15+ with no side effects…everyone is different but I would consult your Dr and at least try

    3) Thailand requires a few things for entry; proof of vax which you will need a legitimate copy of - should be able to obtain from whoever administered your vaccinations (the Australian government was easy), you need a Thai Pass also (an electronic entry application and finally insurance of at least $US20k…there a few Thai providers and it is cheap

    4) Neck pillows are on sale in just about every airport around the world…plus you will have no problem finding one in Thailand

    5) Can not talk highly enough of Avani+ Riverside hotel. It is close to the clinic, beautiful rooms, breakfast included and has a centre attached with restaurants or take out plus a 7-11 for when you want to lay low and recover.

    6) If you can afford the PRP why not

Thanks! Good luck for your result!

I stayed in Pratunam area (Berkeley hotel) which is 130 baht ride away. Breakfast was not included (intentionally), so I and my travel companions can try local food.

If anyone decides to go to Bangkok (whether for HT or not), they should try Thai street food!

😀I am a scared little boy when it comes to food experimentation…it would react violently with my soft digestive system….which wouldn’t be great after surgery…..I do now see how my last post could be perceived 🤣
