  1. @A_4_Archan thanks for the advice. I understand it's a lifetime decision but if you're going to have multiple procedures over your lifetime when do you start? Are you saying Dr Freitas is the better choice? Am confused a little.

I'm taking topical minoxidil with finasteride in the formulation the last couple of months. I think it's to early to make a full assessment of results.

    Kibd regards

  2. So A little update for this post. I'm going forward with FUE

Have spoken with some additional clinics:

    Eugenix
    Dr Freitas.

Both recommend 3000 grafts. Dr Freitas does not have availability until Nov 2024. Am speaking with Eugenix now going over their packages.

There seems to be a lot of positive outcomes and cases for Eugenix so I am hopefully there. I'm also taking oral Finasteride 5mg a week split up. So that should help the crown.

So that's all for now and appreciate any advice anyone has on these 2 clinics.

    All the best. @A_4_Archan @AlexMeister21 @mr_peanutbutter @Bucky O Hair @Vann @shiba1985 @Hazy

  3. @AlexMeister21 sorry to hear that Alex. I read an article somewhere about hiding the scar with micro dot tattoos or something like that. Is that something your able to do? Heard it works really well to bend in scars etc.

Dr Nakatsui is a student of H&W he trained under him for the lateral slit technique. But scalp laxity for me is an issue.

I was concerned 3500-4000 FUE at once was to much harvesting. Wouldn't it make sense to split that?

  4. @Hazy The scar is a concern alter in life for sure. Right now I"m back on oral Finasteride and will combine with the foam to see how it affects my current hair.

@mr_peanutbutter So I tried pinching my scalp like in that pic and I can't do it that much. I can a bit. When I spoke with H&W they said I would need to do some stretching for it.

@Vann that's a good point to see total amounts of grafts available. Will speak with the doctor. I think one of the issues I have with FUT is the downtime healing from a piece of my scalp being cut out and the then pain afterwards with healing etc. I've seen Dr Nakatsui is good at minimizing scars in his patients.

@Bucky O Hair I've got the same fears for FUT scars as well. It's all the what if's down the road with hair loss in senior years. Although you might loose hair having the big scar seems like an issue. Pricing is obv more for FUE. One good thing about FUE at Dr Nakatsui is he does all the extraction and also implantation himself, I believe.

  5. Hi

I have posted here before but I'm uploading pictures for the forum to evaluate my current hair loss condition and what treatments I could have. I have consulted a few Dr's already and have had some options presented but would love the collective wisdom and evaluation from this forum to help.

    Those are so far:

H&W 4500 grafts FUT recommended. ( They can do FUE but said FUT in my case maximises donor area for future ops)

Dr Nakatsui 3500 grafts. Either FUT or FUE

    So some context:

    I'm 43 year old male.

Been using topical Minoxidil (5%) Finasteride (0.1%) foam for 4 months.

Used to take oral Finasteride but I think the recommended dose of 1.25mg daily was to high as caused some libido side effects. Nothing some coaxing doesn't fix. TMI.

Just started back on oral Finasteride but this time will take 3.5mg per week on alternative days. (seen YT vid from Hair docs in Oz recommending this). Thinking of combing the foam and pills at the same time.

Never had a hair transplant before. My hair is fine. My Father has very little hair left on top but has on the sides and back he is 73 now. Mum's side some have hair some not as much.

At everyone tagged below from previous topic FUE VS FUT, thought it would be easier to reply on this new topic, as have pics now to show you.

I've attached some pics that show the front, back, sides and top view. Sometimes I'll have my hair a little shorter on the back and sides but this is generally the style and length I've been using with my current head of hair. 20 years ago I would slick it up a little and style it. Would be nice to get back to those days again...

I'm looking to get a transplant done, all being well in the next few months.

Appreciate all the help and information you all provide.

    Thanks so much.

  6. @Bucky O Hair This is EXCELLENT advice and questions. Thank You so much. I was hoping for this kind of advice from this forum. I'll relay these questions to my doctors and see the responses I get. Will keep you posted on results

And @mr_peanutbutter not bald have fair bit of hair left on my head just rock the combover lol

Thank @Vann also killer advice. Have asked all these questions and from what I can see I"m leaning way more towards FUE for my first procedure.

  7. So had some updates and this is what I've been told. I'm 42 and been told I should do some scalp stretching. I use minoxidil and finasteride topical foam last 4 months.

So 2 surgeons below had said this to me:

Dr Wong (h&w) 4500 grafts or more (5000) with FUT on the top and mid scalp. Nothing on crown. Start using their Xyon finasteride gel and take oral minoxidil.

Dr Nakatsui in Edmonton. Do 2000 grafts either FUE or FUT. Front and mid scalp only. Then another procedure hopefully for crown down the road.

So that where im at .. dilemma??!!

    @Z-- @Mike10 @mr_peanutbutter @Bucky O Hair

  8. I've been hearing a lot about ethical amounts of grafts to harvest. What is everyone's thoughts on this?

Some Dr's have said no more than 3000 in one session, like Dr Ahmed. Yet on H&W website it states they do upto 5000 in one session.

Any thoughts on this? As seems contradicting in the research atm.

  9. @HappyMan2021 I look at H&W and last time I checked I was getting prices from them in the $25k range. That seemed pretty crazy to me. As some of the clinics in Texas or near there, are a 4-5 hr flight away. Which costs less that $500 return. Plus hotel and procedure was way less than a half to a third they were charging.

So it just seemed to expensive, especially considering if I would need multiple procedures. Maybe there prices have gone down since I don't know.

  10. Hi Everyone

So I'm looking at getting my first hair transplant I hope, if I'm an eligible candidate. I'm 42 based in Vancouver Canada. Think I'm a NW 5 or 6.

I've looked into many options and am currently taking topical finasteride/minoxidil solution. Been 1 month on this so far.

I'm worried about costs and finding a decent surgeon. So far I've saved around $15,000 CAD. Scouring the forum for trusted surgeons and reading reviews the following have caught my attention as possible candidates:

    DR Pradeep Sethi

    Dr Luis Nader

    Dr Munib Ahmed

    Dr Bernardino Arocha

Any help on if with my budget it's possible to get this done and also which one of these is best options for me? I know most likely will need multiple transplants down the road.

    Appreciate all your help!!

  11. great results @Eran Most likely I'll need 2.

My dad's hair has thinned out on top he has a little left but has lots around the sides. He is 72 this year mind. I've been told to start up on Minoxidil and Finasteride. I took the latter before in the pill format, so this time will look for the gel.

If I need to try the meds for 10 months first to a year ( as recommended by some docs), then I might try it after that.
