  1. The process of hair growth consists of three stages: Anagen: This is the active growth phase of the hair fiber and can last for 2- 7 years. At any given time 80-85% of our hair is in the anagen phase. Catagen: Sometimes referred to as the transitional phase, which is when hair growth begins to "stop" and activity ceases. It usually lasts for 10- 20 days. Telogen: This occurs when hair growth stops completely and the hair fibers fall out. At any given time, 10-15% of our hair is in the telogen phase, which typically lasts up to 100 days for scalp hair. After the telogen phase, the process of hair growth starts again in the anagen phase. As hair forms, melanocytes inject pigment (melanin) into the keratin-containing cells. Keratin is the protein that makes up our hair, skin and nails. Throughout the years, melanocytes continue to inject pigment into the keratin of the hair, giving it a piquant color.
  2. Recent advances include adding antioxidants to shampoos such as vitamins C and E. However, their efficacy has been questioned due to the short contact duration. Green tea extract, selenium, copper, phytoestrogens and melatonin are being studied as attractive topical anti-aging compounds. Recombinant Human Growth Hormone has resulted in improved hair thickness, growth and even hair darkening. Skulachev et al. Presented his work on preventing aging in a recent article. Plastoquinone SkQs, a new type of antioxidant-containing compound (SkQs) have been shown to prevent age-related changes such as cannibalism, baldness, retinopathy, cataracts, etc. (1) As we get older, our hair follicles produce less melanin, resulting in gray hair. The ingredients present in black seed oil prevent pigment cell damage and keep hair black for a long time. The benefit of taking black seed oil for hair is that it not only prevents premature graying but also effectively reverses graying. This is due to the high linoleic acid content, which helps keep up with the loss of dark pigment cells in your follicles. Pro Tip: The specialty of black seed oil is responsible for keeping your hair black and shiny for a long time. (2)
