  1. Perhaps overharvest was the wrong word choice. However, from a number of results I've seen posted here, I still stand by my opinion that they use an unnecessarily high graft count for some work, such as the linked example. Personally, I'd rather go to someone more focused with getting more coverage for fewer grafts, especially in case if another transplant is required down the line, rather than doing super densely packed work that uses a majority of the donor. To each their own, but that's my own opinion on the matter. I'm just a big believer in conserving as much donor as possible.
  2. Between those two, Konior. I know H&W has a good reputation around here, but I feel like I've seen a lot more posts recently about them overharvesting and using too many grafts whereas Konior seems a lot better at doing more with less.
  3. I'm sure it'll look great when all is said and done. Based on your before pics, I'm kinda surprised you needed 3800 grafts tbh.
  4. I'm scheduled for here in November. Talked to a lot of people and narrowed my decision to Bogota. Pretty much everyone I talked to was happy with their results from him and have seen some people on this forum write about their experience. Price is a little higher now than when I paid the deposit, but I feel confident that he is a very ethical surgeon who is working in your best interest and actually cares about you
  5. The two that come to mind from what I've read around here are Dr. Harold Ma in Singapore and Eugenix in India
  6. Hey everyone! So big thank you to this forum for really helping me get the confidence to start treating my hair loss, and to the people last time who helped give their opinions. Long story short, I'm almost 33 and have been thinning over the last 8ish years. I started 0.5mg finasteride a few weeks ago and since i had no side effects, I'm now on 1mg finasteride (for a grand total of ~1 month). I've included pics of my current hair situation. Following the suggestions of many posters here, I've been getting numerous consults with recommended hair transplant surgeons on this forum. I've also been getting a variety of opinions over where or not a HT now would be of benefit or I should be waiting nearly a year right now. Pretty much everyone agrees that I should be on finasteride 1mg and my first HT should be to rebuild the hairline + mid/frontal scalp region. I'm perfectly fine and on board with that. The differences seems to be how long to wait. Dr. Pinto recommended not getting a HT at this time and waiting 12 months to see how the finasteride does for the hairgrowth (also recommended switching to dutasteride + oral minox). Similarly, HLC recommended sticking with finasteride 1mg and waiting 6-12 months to see the effects and then re-evaluate. Both Eugenix and Dr Camacho (in Bogota) recommended staying on finasteride 1mg but that I would benefit from a HT now because finasteride won't really do anything for the hairline (but would do more for the crown). Both are estimating ~2500-2800 grafts and both felt I would get really excellent results. Dr. Bisanga was indeterminate and said an in-person consult is necessary because he felt the donor area had some weaker areas. This isn't to throw anyone under the bus, and I'm very grateful to all of these surgeons for providing their opinions, but rather I just wanted to illustrate the range of opinions I've gotten. Certainly I want to make sure I make the correct choice for me and do this right the first time, especially before flying to a different continent to have this done, and mostly wanted to gauge if I should be waiting to consider a HT or should be trying to get one sooner rather than later (although I suppose with how far out these surgeons get booked, I'll probably end up having to wait at least 6-12 months for a HT anyway.)
  7. So I had a consultation with Eugenix today and they recommended "2500 grafts would be needed for the Hairline, Temples and Mid-scalp that would account for the frontal coverage" and that finasteride would regrow the crown. Then if finasteride doesn't regrow the crown, they said we can consider a second HT to fill in that. Does that sound reasonable from the pictures? I have some concern that 2500 isn't enough, but I'm hardly an expert in this (they also have a bunch of different packages and the most expensive one isn't THAT much cheaper than getting it done in the US but some of the other packages definitely are). I've been trying to get some suggestions from Dr. Bicer's clinic. I sent them some pictures on 3/12, their coordinator sent me some questions on 3/13 which were answered, and then basically been on silence. Sent a follow up message a couple days ago, said they'd check, and then silence again. Not sure if that's common or not, but I've seen a lot of incredible results from her, so really hoping to have an opportunity to get her opinion on what she would do for my situation.
  8. Thank you guys for all the feedback! So I've been researching clinics, and the top 2 I feel most confident in for now are Dr. Bicer in Istanbul and Dr. Carman in San Diego. I'm about to start residency this summer so it'll probably be awhile until I can actually get enough time off to actually get this procedure done, so we'll see where the medications take me til then! Haha thank you! Guess avoiding the sun by spending my entire life indoors does lol. I'm not sure if the nape thinning is from some electrolysis I had done to remove hair on the nape of my neck to clean up the area, or from actual retrograde alopecia. So when I personally look at myself in the mirror, I see some receding hair line and also some diffuse thinning that allows the scalp to come through. Some of my friends are definitely taller than me, or I go to the gym and bend in certain positions which I feel like exposes my scalp to a lot of people, and that makes it somewhat embarrassing, which is one of the reasons as to why I was trying to fill in the crown/scalp. My initial concern with the front was what happens if I transplant hair there, and then the hairline recedes further and now it looks like there's a big gap between what remains of the old hair and the new transplanted hair. That very well could be a misunderstanding of what happens, but I'll try some in person consultations in the near future and go from there. Alright I'll try to focus more on the front and mid-scalp. Is there any reason not to touch the crown? Is that just because of limited donor ability vs area to cover?
  9. Hi there! First-time poster so apologies if this is in the wrong section. I'm currently 32 years old (33 soon) and I've had consultations with multiple recommended HT surgeons suggested from this forum to get some opinions over my situation, namely if I should get a HT, what areas should be treated, and what expectations are. The main things that were unanimously agreed upon was that I should do a HT for the frontal region and that I should start finasteride. I've now started finasteride 0.5mg daily for a few weeks. I've gotten told I'm anywhere from Norwood 3-6/7. For me personally, the area that bothers me the most is the crown/scalp region which is also where I'm getting multiple opinions. I've had some say I'll lose everything, I've had some recommend doing a HT on the front and mid-scalp and to leave the crown alone, I've had some say finasteride should reverse a lot of the thinning and the crown will be ok on finasteride. I feel like I'm just at a loss on what to do at this point besides continuing finasteride. I would love to do a HT, but I honestly don't know how much it's worth doing just the front if the rest of the scalp is basically going to die off, or if a HT can/should be done for the crown/scalp region. This whole ordeal has been quite frustrating as I'm sure you can imagine, and my self-confidence has definitely taken a hit, but lurking this forum has been really nice to know I'm not the only one struggling out here 🙂
