I think you need to be on Finasteride in case you have DUPA, which also affects the donor area. Also, oral minoxidil may help as it shortens the telogen phase of the hair cycle.

Hi Magic,
Yes, my brother told me. I'm so glad that you found the thread useful. I owe so much to this community and wanted to give something back.
I had a futher 601 grafts to add some more density. HAIR GREED IS REAL! 🤣 Very happy again so far.
Best of luck and happy growing!

Hi Mister_25,
I actually think that you have got significant improvement. Dealing with a hair transplant is an emotional roller coaster at any age, so I can't imagine what it's like at 22.
Give it the full 12 months. Dr Hasson is one of the World's best surgeons. H&W are a reputable clinic and will always stand by their work.
Also, you were an evolving NW5, so 3800 grafts isn't going to give you total coverage. You will need a second procedure.
It may also be worth considering switching from finasteride to dutasteride, as you have an aggressive type of hair loss at a young age.
Good luck!

Hi All,
Apologies that I have not updated sooner! Been very busy with work and family etc.
I have just passed the 12 month mark and I am pleased to say that I am very happy with my results. My new hairline frames my face perfectly and I really like the temple points. I am able to style my hair in ways that I have been unable to style it for years! People have commented that my hair looks nice and that is always a confidence booster!
However, hair greed is real lol. I would like a bit more density and will be heading back to Madrid soon to put the finishing touches on this!
Please see my 12 month photo's below.
PS - I forgot to add that I added in 1 dose of Avodart per week a few months ago, in addition to 6 doses of Propecia per week. I discussed this with Dr Lorenzo, too. It was mainly for my own piece of mind, as I have been on Propecia for 15 years and worry about continued hair loss.

Post op looks fine. Hopefully it all grows in for you.

Do you have any immediate post-op pics? And 1 week post op pics, please? Just want to see if there were any signs of a haematoma etc in that area.

Looks great @splitting hairs. Looking forward to seeing the glow up. Could you post a link to the post from the greek forum which took inspiration from please (or just the pics, whatever works)?
I'm booked in with Dr. Lorenzo for later this year so would like to have a few examples of the hairline design which I would hope to have (will be showing yours too). Thanks!
Thank you!

Hello. Thank you very much for your question. The patient is in treatment.
The treatments are adapted to the characteristics and needs of each patient. In addition, follow-up is carried out to apply the necessary modifications until a satisfactory result is achieved.
There is no single treatment that is recommended for each patient.Thank you for replying. It would be useful in future when presenting a case, if you can kindly provide details of the medication prescribed for the patient. Thanks

Very good result!! Can I ask if the patient was started on medication and which ones please?
Dr Freitas seems to be advising dutasteride and oral minoxidil a lot these days? What is his experience with these?
Thanks

Personally, I was advised not to cut my hair for at least 4 weeks before, so that they could see the hair quality and coverage.
It's possible that your hair may look a bit better when it is longer. However, it's best to speak to your surgeon about your concerns on the day and which areas you want him to pay particular attention to.

Thank you!

Congratulations!! Crazy awesome result!
However, I think that it is really important you consider getting on Finasteride, as it will maintain your hair and help with the longevity of your transplant results.

Agreed. The density does look low in the immediate post op pics. The good news is that it should be easy to fix with a touch up.

Fibrin is produced by the body as part of the clotting process. However, it can affect graft survival if it is excessive. Spraying a lot of saline helps and so do tranexamic acid tablets. Dr Lorenzo has spoken a lot about this.

There looks like quite a bit of fibrin in your immediate post-op pics. That can affect gract survival.

These clinics all need to be shut down!

Assuming a diabetic 2 patient is on medication and an endocrinologist or GP is comfortable it’s under control, then what ?
Are there any published guidelines that you can refer me to specifically regarding HbA1c ?
I mean, anyone under 6 as per Longevita’s protocol is non diabetic. So if I’m correct, have they made a mistake on their article cited in the opening post?
Sorry to persist, but a significant proportion of people now struggle with diabetes 2 and are likely to encounter this issue with uncertainty without universally recognized guidelines and transparency.
Diabetes UK do a perioperative management guideline. Check it out.

Different clinics have different protocols. As I said, less than 7% indicates good glycaemic control over the previous 3 months. If the clinic are not happy, they should just refer you to your GP, who can start oral antidiabetic treatment.

7 month ish user of Dutasteride here. It's almost brought me back an entire norwood level so far. I estimate I have about 2-3k new hairs (still bald, but better than before, clearly). Plan is that once I stop seeing progress from Dut, I'll get a transplant.
One thing I will note is that I have 0 side effects. I guess other people here were struggling with some, but I just want to point out that some of us actually don't get side effects at all.
Wow!! Great results!!
Some new hairs not growing

The transplanted hairs are not actually growing in the weeks following surgery. They have shed from the follicle and are being pushed out, so they appear to be getting longer. Hair will shed at different times. Dr Lorenzo explained this to me.
