1. Right after the procedure I used Minoxidil for a few months to help speed things up. But, I soon decided that I didn't want to take meds forever. In my case, I think it was the right decision. Many other guys aren't so lucky without using meds.
2. Hello all, Today is the 20th anniversary of me having a hair transplant by the late Dr. Alvi Armani in Toronto, Canada and I thought many of you would enjoy an update and seeing some pictures. On April 3, 2002, I had 1,508 grafts and the surgery fee was $3,000.00, GST(Canadian tax) $210.00, Meds $250.00 for a total of $3,460 Canadian dollars. My notes show a Visa charge of $2,235.37 USD. Right after I scheduled the procedure, Dr. Armani raised his prices from $2.00 to $3.00 per graft. Before I got a hair transplant, I was active on several hair loss forums and message boards. I learned all I could from other's experiences and I really did my homework before committing. Remember, back in 2002, some doctors were still doing the old fashioned "plugs". The day of the surgery, Dr. Armani and I had a final discussion of my new hairline before drawing it. He didn't have a mirror, so he left the room and a technician brought me one. The tech handed it to me and walked out of the room. I was all alone and I will never forget the rush of emotions I felt as I turned that mirror around and saw how my future hairline would look. Not once have I ever regretted having a hair transplant and I've never been embarrassed of anyone knowing about it. In fact, Dr. Armani used my photos on his website without obscuring my face . Over the years he would send me his business cards and I would pass them out to people wanting a hair transplant. He never paid me or gave me anything for helping. I did it because I knew how it can impact someone. Flash forward 20 years and I'm now 48 years old and need more work done. I'm looking for a new doctor in either the US or Canada. Ideally, I'd like to have a combination session with a small FUT procedure to improve the existing scar and then have the rest of the session be FUE. I also don't mind having my head shaved, if needed. Any recommendations of who might be the best clinic for me? Pilot 2002 April 3, 2002 2002 April 3, 2022 April 3, 2022
3.
quote:
It's great knowing that only 8 months ago I was really bothered by it and now I don't even think about it anymore. That's what I call a success story! Thanks for sharing your experience. It looks nothing shy of incredible! Pilot
4. I'm sorry to inform you. Mike Heilman IS NOT a doctor. I too was under the impression he was until I directly asked him where he graduated medical school. He informed me he's not a Doctor. Pilot
5. IPL stands for "Intense Pulsed Light". It uses the full spectrum of light, so it's not a laser. Long-term hair removal with IPL is very poor and the patient is more apt to have pigment changes than using a modern laser with a cooling tip. Some of the FDA approved lasers for "Permanent Hair Reduction" are the Gentlelase and Lightshear. The only FDA approved method for "Permanent Hair Removal" is Electrolysis. Best of Luck, Pilot I'm not a health care professional and all my statements are general in nature and should be confirmed with an appropriate professional.
6. Hello Low, I've been noticing more and more young guys using tons of hair gell. The end result is very thin appearing hair because the hair clumps together showing the scalp. I'm not sure if you're one of those guys or not, just an idea. Pilot
7. Do you have any before and after pics? That way we can get an idea of how much hair you've lost in your donor area. Also, how's your donor scar?
