I started on 2.5mg and had no side so went upto 5mg. Yeah tressless annoys me, to many young imature people on there!

What does the article actually say? Is he a famous doc over in Australia for hairloss?

He says that he’s been prescribing it for 20 years and over 20,000 patients. Also it stops progression 100% and regrows 20% of what someone lost. I don’t know how legit that is lol, but that’s what he stated in the article

I can't see article due to not being a subscriber but sounds positive.

I'm currently 2 months in and on 5mg daily and hair is taking a bit of a hit just now.

Nice! Any sides? Starting with 2.5mg and my bp has lowered and I feel ok. Sometimes I think placebo kicked in for me cause of all the tressless stuff I read. But I only been on it for two weeks.

Just saw this article, reporting from Dr. Sinclair who says he’s been using it on patients for 20 years wow. Some things I didn’t quite understand is if you can wean off it if you lost hair due to stress/COVID or if you’re suffering from mpb. I think he meant from stress/COVID Also, he says it stops progression 100% and regrows 20% of what you have lost. Interesting

Everyone reacts differently. Topical gave me chest tightness for a couple hours after applying it ( I used it once a day),

I don’t want to freak you out but this is a known side effect of minoxidil where it increases the resting heart rate by a few points.

You should monitor your heart rate, perhaps get the heart rate monitoring machine and take readings when you’re completely chill, when it’s about time to take the drug ( ie during trough concentration time of the drug when the drug is lowest level in blood ) and 2 hours after taking the drug.

It should be OK to see min increase or decrease the heart rate immediately after dosing but the sustained increase or decrease is going to be an issue. Talk to a doctor perhaps.

I would value heart over hairs, if you get troublesome reading consistently, maybe you’re like me and can’t tolerate it.

Yeah it was for sure around 16 hours after I took it and had my resting heart rate increase. I don’t know if it was because I just had ate a lot of food with sodium, or what. But I’m gonna keep monitoring it. I will say when I did cardio my heart rate was at the usual, so I don’t know. So many things change your heart rate, it’s hard to tell.

Do you know how long it takes to get it out of your system? I know 4 hours is the half life.

I've been taking 2.5 mg of Oral Minoxidil daily, went to the doctors last week my resting heart rate was 65 and my BP was 120/70. 75-102 is still within the normal range. Your heart rate can fluctuate for various reasons, including anxiety.

Thanks for the response Melvin. Just a bit worried because before OM I was checking numbers to compare and I rarely hit 90 or more while resting. I think my body needs time to adjust to it.

Could be over monitoring and anxious about using OM because of all the stuff I’ve read from Reddit

  6. Been taking 2.5 Mg OM for about 5 days and been monitoring my blood pressure and heart rate. My resting heart rate has risen, is this common especially for the first days and should subside. I used to be around 65-80, now I’m around 75-102 while resting.

I'm on 5mg for 6 months now. The first thing I noticed was that my beard hair came in thicker and possibly darker. As Melvin mentioned it also grew faster.

Eyebrows and eyelashes got thicker as well. No other body hair growth that i've noticed.

Any sides? I just started 2.5mg and might up it to 5 mg soon.

Well I have just returned from seeing Dr Beven Bhoyrul (dermatologist who works at Sinclair Dermatology along with Prof Rod Sinclair). I've been prescribed 2.5mg of oral minoxidil to take daily. Also after going through my entire history (it was a looooooooooooooooooooooong appointment) he suggested that I forget taking 0.5mg of finasteride MWF and that I take instead 0.25mg of finasteride every day. We chatted about this and my previous history of use with finasteride and I will be sticking with his recommendation. I have an appointment in three months to go back and see him. I need to mention also a big thanks to @Viney for giving me a big heads up on oral minoxidil along with @Melvin- Moderator. All the best!

What was his reasoning on taking 0.25mg everyday instead of 0.5mg MWF? I take 1 Mg MWF and think sometimes I should take 0.5mg everyday.

Even after lowering my dose from 5mg to 2.5mg, I had one alcoholic drink today and my blood pressure lowered and heart rate went above 100. It is still thereabouts. I will probably lower to 1.25mg now. This is really unfortunate, I do not want to stop the drug. It's thickend my hair a bit, nothing miraculous. However I also like the eyelash and eyebrow darkening.

How long after taking your medication did you have an alcoholic drink?

  10. When speaking to my dermatologist, he said that I can maintain the gains from OM and switch to topical. I’m not sure if this is true, but it would be nice to use OM for a while and go back to topical and maintain gains

Difficult to say at this point to be completely honest. I also forgot to mentioned that I had a shed phase which I read was normal. That lasted about 3 weeks and was a bit annoying.

I see a lot of smaller hairs growing on the hair line but not sure if those are vellus or new hairs.

I have my first surgery with Dr. Bisanga on Sept 27th so i'll jump off a week or two before per the instructions from the clinic and resume after of course.

Dr. Bisanga takes OM himself, did he tell you to get on it? I wonder how many of his patients are on it

    MONTH FIVE

Apologies in advance. I’m just getting over Covid and I haven’t had my hair photographer with me to take my monthly pics. These photos show the five month results thus far. Bare in mind I was a slick Norwood 7 with poor donor, two previous punch graft surgeries and scars. I think the fact the scars are now hidden is as much a triumph to me as having hair is. I need to dye my hair again but this is what it is to date. I’m already in talks with Dr Pradeep for a second surgery which blows me away but more about that later.

Looking good. Did they transplant hairs into your scars which helped cover them up? Your smp looked good, what made you want to get your hair back. Sometimes I wonder if I should just go bald and smp my scar and not constantly have to worry about hair.
