I (46y male) was categorized as NW3 (V) and my hair doctor gave me 3 options -- 1) Accept the situation and live with the hair fall (which I don't want to consider) 2) Right away, start on Finasteride 1mg a day and at the same time apply Minoxidil lotion (of foam) twice a day. Then wait for few months and go for FUE HT (I probably need 4K+ grafts) 3) Have HT done now but soon after start Finasteride 1mg a day and Minoxidil twice a day (so that I don't lose my native hairs) With Option 2), the doc mentioned that after few months (I forgot whether it was 4? or 6? or 1y?), some of my hair might grow thick and cover the scalp, etc and might give clear picture at that time where to put and how many grafts are actually needed. I liked this idea and decided to wait for the HT. My question is it better to wait for the HT and if so, how long should I wait once I start on above two medications? Would waiting for an year from now would help or is there a risk of (losing) time? What should be my criteria when to get the HT done - now or 1y later? Please advise.
