Dr. Ferreira isn't looking for one. He wants to reply to emails himself. I already offered him my help with that as he takes over 2-5 months to even reply to email consultations...

Wow, and here I am waiting patiently for him to respond after 6 days. (yes I was holding out on the 48 hour expedited fee of €50)😂

Looks like I'll be paying that!

The problem is that good doctors in the US start around $5/graft. So you'll need more money or only do 2000 grafts.

I can't see you being happy with 2,500 grafts, unless you're looking for a VERY conservative hairline. I agree with the 3,500 - 4,000 quote. That pushes you to mostly turkey, like HLC, Dr. Pekiner, Dr. Bicer, Dr. Demirsoy, and maybe FueCapilar. There are a couple docs on the forum, but I don't know if you're in their budget.

You could research Mexico. Even Colombia. Search the board for those clinics.

Thanks for that. Eugenix have sent me their packages and I really like their results. Still can't wrap my head around the 18% tax involved, but it is what it is.

FUE-HLC and BRUNO FERREIRA are definitely on the short list too.

  3. This is the start of my restoration journey...........which has the potential of me buying a nice set of clippers and calling it a day!

    1) I have up to $10,000 to spend.

I am open to travelling outside of the US but would prefer not to. I'm new to this forum and have obtained some really valuable information, which has if anything, encouraged me to push on.

I've been looking closely at Bernsteinmedical (Dr. Shaver New York) FUE-HLC (Turkey) and Bruno Ferreira (Portugal). I'm about to book an in-person consultation with Dr. Shaver after receiving a response via e-mail to my online consultation last week. She recommended I add 2,500 follicular unit grafts to strengthen my frontal hairline and add coverage to the front and top of my scalp. This sounds great, and I've seen some amazing results by her that I would love for myself.

I'm not sure I can afford her, if not any Dr. in the States. I will wait to hear from you on this forum.

FUE-HLC quoted me about 3200-3600 Grafts for the hairline. "With this amount, we can rebuild the hairline and close the temples. We will also give to the front half area more density. We have to transplant the hairline with a density of approximately 50 Grafts/cm2 to provide a dense and natural look."

The two above quotes sound drastically different. Is this due to Dr. Shaver choosing to go with FUT and the Turkish FUE-HLC clinic going with FUE? I'm fine with either method, as most companies seem to be happy with my donor area.

So if the $10,000 is a pipe dream for a U.S. operation then I'd love to hear your thoughts on that and the other queries I've listed. It would all be greatly appreciated and help solidify my decision.

Use the following link and get a virtual consultation done through the forum:

You should start your own thread and mention all the different Drs/Clinics your currently considering. 👌

Whoops, now I see what the moderator was on about. will do, and thanks.

  5. Man!! I swear to god I could fool my friends by telling them your “before photos” are actually me. We have the exact same hair loss, color, viscosity and texture. So having reached out to the Chicagohairinstitute last week I’m happy to say that your journey and results may be all I need to pull the trigger. However, I was contacted by Dr. Nadimi and not Konior. She suggested around the same amount of grafts as you had (but I consulted with her initially regarding FUE) After seeing your results I’m wondering if I should consider FUT first. Here are some questions for you and others on this thread:

    1) I couldn’t find an accurate cost of what your transplant would have cost, can someone share with me?

    2) Is the $200 consultation fee absorbed after I book the full procedure?

    3) I’m tossing up between FUE-HLC (Turkey), Bruno Ferreira (Portugal), and bernsteinmedical (New York) , with Chicago being my No.1 choice at this stage.

Would anyone like to weigh in on those other 3 if you have heard good or bad things?

I look forward to your next update!

Hi all. I am a 36 year old man from the UK. I want to share with you my hair transplant progress. I had 4938 grafts at HLC in Ankara, Turkey on 5th, 6th and 7th February 2020.

I chose HLC after consulting with various clinics over a 6 month period. HLC fit my criteria: doctor performs the procedure themselves, manual extraction, stick & place technique. I also liked their results, some of which are just insanely good, and found them to be good to deal with. All of my consultations were done over email. I also got talking on Facebook to a Mexican guy who had been to HLC and had nothing but good things to say, and his results were incredible. Being able to talk to a genuine patient sealed the deal for me.

I first became aware of my hair loss at around 19 years of age. Even at that point, I had some thinning on the crown. Since then I have also receded at the front and thinned on top, as you can see from the pictures below. I have been taking finasteride 1mg per day for around 10 years now (I can't remember exactly how long) and I think it has helped me retain a reasonable head of hair. I felt at 36 years of age, after first considering a transplant about 8 years ago, now was a good time and a sensible time to do something.

The experience with HLC was excellent. You stay in an apartment with 4 bedrooms, just over the road from the clinic. I was a bit apprehensive about this communal living arrangement at first, but I really enjoyed the experience and made a couple of friends while I was there. The staff at HLC are superb. All meals are provided.

    Graft report

    grafts_censored.thumb.jpg.ec6b35a5c1ae1c0d121701b667e55850.jpg

    Graft placement

I had 2800 grafts in the frontal third at a density of 50 per sq cm in the hairline; grafts at 20 per sq cm were placed in between native hairs further back

I also had 2000 on the crown at a density of 30 per sq cm (of those on the crown, 711 were beard grafts)

My donor has many singles and doubles, not so many multiples unfortunately. Not much I can do about that. I was aware of this, as when I cut my back & sides very short a lot of scalp was visible. I was briefly concerned I might have DUPA but the surgeon assured me this was not the case. In view of this, the doctor proposed to take 500 or so from the beard (although this ended up being 700) and I happily agreed to this.

Hey brother. I plan on doing the same as you (hlc, fue, hoping for 4 to 5000grafts), and this thread is great to follow as I have a very similar hairline and texture as you do. Did this run you over 5000, US$? I'll be adding $800 to $1000 extra for the plane ticket from the States so it'll be good to get an idea.
