I would recommend at least a year of consistent medication use. The risk is looking worse than you do now. Permanent shock loss, losing more hair than what’s transplanted, and pretty much looking balder.

Hi Melvin, why would the risk is looking worse? If no medication, I'd understand. But what if he starts taking medication right after the HT

As I see it, your hair is already looking quite good, especially for only 6 months. You will get more improvements everywhere, I have no doubt.

I too wish I could have lowered my hairline and closed my temples even more. Truth is, at my age (50) it's actually pretty aggressive. But there is no way to really know how it will look after 12 months when we're sitting in the chair with shaved hair and marker lines on our head. We make the best decision we can and agree to it.

In my experience, they were quite ethical. I asked for my crown to be included but they advised against it because I was already at the 4000 graft mark. They could have taken more money, and I would have paid it. But they convinced me to do 2 procedures.

I don't know about your friend. I'd like to see those pictures. A trichologist may not have aborted the procedure, no telling.

I wish you the best outcome on your transplant. No matter where you go for your second one. 👍

To be honest, for someone who’s lurking, this is reassuring.

OP keeps mentioning about this friend/colleague but what has actually happened? Also, what does HLC say about him? You mentioned your other friends had a bad result, is it?

Yes. Your advise is a good one. Infact is the exact same they told me in HLC. I am not making the judgemt by the post op pics, but by my every day looking in the mirror.

I if I take now, lets go higher and say 1500 grafts, then I would still have another 4500 grafts in reserve according to the estimation in HLC. I think it will be more than enough. Plus I am now on finasteride which I never took before so I should be able to keep myself out of any other surgery longer.

I know I am seeking perfection. But that is just how I am.

And btw. This other surgery I could do it in Spain or in HLC again. But I believe it will be Spain.

Hi there, may I know what happened to your colleague? Is the one who had a previous transplant and had a special condition on his that needed treatment? Also, was the condition visible to the eye? Thank you.

    @Babou1410Thanks for the tag.

Dr. Bisanga performs restorations in all extents of hair loss and specialises in both frontal hairline and crown restorations.

I would agree that there are more cases shared that present hairline restoration as I believe that this is reflective in demand.
I have never met a patient who has requested his crown restored whilst leaving his frontal third without hair. Generally the front is the priority when necessary.

In terms of scheduling, the last 18 months with Covid has presented some changes to the pattern of scheduling, with many patients looking to confirm a date later in the year as opposed to the following month or two with the understanding that travel restrictions will have eased.
Now that travel is opening up again, scheduling is currently very active. Whilst some travel restrictions and late changes may present a single date here and there, in general a wait time of 3-4 months would generally be able to present a few options.

@FernandBy all means reach out to the clinic and request an update of the calendar and we will be able to explore specific dates based around your availability. Drop me a dm if I may be able to help in any way.

Hi Raphael, thank you. I wrote you a message. Looking forward to hear from you :)

Yes, of course I'm happy. I'm not sure if any doctor is better than the other. It seems they are part of a system, they all perform the same technique (stick and place). There might be some specializations, like beard transplants, but I'm not sure. The doctors that work on you are decided during the hairline design process.

Thank you for letting me know.

What concerns me a little are the injections. I've heard other clinics have a way to let you now feel anything at all in terms of pain, so I'm a bit surprised that HLC does "normal/painful" injections. How was your experience on that?

Yes. They give u just once a day. In the morning, so u are a little "high" and its easier for you. Is good that just to have proof you ask them on email whats the guarantee they offer. I have a reply for them that legaly would work saying they guarantee you free touch up in case it doesnt end good or density missing/ some side that didnt grow as good.  But after the sugery they dont check on you. Ofc if u have doubts you can ask. I for example asked a month later the surgery for the pics and they sent all to me.

    Thanks for all the info!

How was the post surgery regarding the sleeping? Are you able to sleep the first nights?

Sorry you are right. They also give you some intravenous at HLC.

Do they give that to make you relax and make you "groggy" for the length of the surgery, I guess, right?

How is it going with your transplant? Is HLC responsive even after months, whenever you have a doubt?

    Thanks for everything.

It's worth mentioning that Dr. Pekiner was formerly a doctor at HLC. There are about 5 doctors at HLC. Usually, more than one will work on you.

Good to know! Personally, I've heard that with Dr. Pekiner happened that he declined or aborted a transplant on the spot, but these are just things I've heard, not from my experience. This also made me lean towards HLC.

Just one thing about HLC. Since there are multiple doctors and you don't know who will handle you, is there something who is reputably better than the others? Also, do the doctors and the hair transplant coordinator speak good English?

Yes. The anaesthesia injections are painful. Its about 1-2 mins each time. Totally tolerable and necessary but painful.

Thank you for letting me know. I've heard that in some low-cost in Instanbul they also give an anaesthesia or sedative intravenous to minimize the pain of the actual injections. Since I'm mostly decided on HLC, I just hoped they did/had something to really minimize the pain of those injections as well.

Hey! I feel you! I have actually booked already with couto a month after the surgery since I want to perfection my temples and maybe lower half centimeter my hairline. And they gave me first appointment for october 2022.

About the post and pre they will send you at the email some documents. You read them carefully because you must be prepared for it in some aspects:

-ask already for a week or two off the job (may be even more if you work at the sun or in a dust environment/ somewheere where you may sweet heavyly)

    - take the meds as they tell you

-use the benpathol on the DONOR area (in the document it didnt specify if donnor, receipt area or both, so I call them and they told me)

    - use the water spray they give you every 2 hours on the receipt area until day 10 (or 12, 13... until ur crusts are gone)

-do not touch or scratch ur crusts at all for the first 10 days. Avoid any hit (special attention when entering in a car)

    - and try to avoid what happened tona guy that was with me to the airport when going back. He sprayed hidroalcoholic solution (for covid) on the head since he mistaked it with the water spray.

    ...

But if u have any doubt, at the end of the surgery you talk to the doctor and, if something comes up later, u have the whatsapp of the patient coordinator and y can ask or call.

In resume: u talk to the doctor at the end but they wont check you anymore after. Unless you have doubts, in which case they will answer.

Also read carefully the pre-op instructions.

    Good luck!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Was the surgery painful in any way/stage? Thanks a lot.
