  1. I am not completely familiar with the norwood scale, basically I was a 2A? Dr. Cooley was open minded in the sense that he when he drew the original line for the new projected hairline I requested that it be moved forward a little further. He obliged. I am 31.
  2. I was just writing to express my positive opinion of Dr. Cooley. I had about 900 grafts into the frontal/temporal region. Not only was he willing to be open minded about what I wanted to have done, but he also impressed me with his attention to detail, which I can honestly describe as inspiring. I know that sounds over the top, but he not only literally works along with his staff placing the grafts himself, but he stays long after he's sent everyone else home to ensure everything is just right. Only a few days later the redness is already subsiding. In addition I was very pleased to notice absolutely no feeling of soreness or sensitivity on top of my head, which is actually quite common with hair transplantation. I will try and remember to post an update in a few months.

  4. Zerro, I elected to go with Dr. Charles over Dr. Haber, and others because the pics I have seen of his hairline work are very good. In addition Dr. Charles is someone who really puts you at ease. Will answer your questions all day and his personality is first rate. I also felt Dr. Haber was a bit conservative for the results I was wanting to produce. I had 1400 grafts all in the frontal hairline. This is my first and hopefully last procedure. I would be interested to compare notes over the coming months. I currently have shed about 75% of my grafts,(I have read it's not uncommon for some to just grow right from the start w/o shedding. I have some pimples at the front occasionally and also a little bit of color still (pink) in certain spots on scalp.
  5. Zerro, the pricing sounds within reason. There is always going to be variation. I met with Dr. Haber while doing my research in and he struck me as being very knowledgeable and also a straight shooter. I am also about 5 weeks out(Dr. Charles) and agree the waiting is rough.
  6. Sorry about taking so long to reply. I posted without reading the forum restrictions. Anyway to thinkingaboutit in reference to jumping from 400 to 1400, I felt the doctors who were quoting in the 400-600 range were far too conservative considering how far my hairline had receded. In addition to Dr. Charles I had a few others such as Dr. Epstein, and Dr. Shapiro quote me in the 1000-1500 range. Gillenator, Yes I am a big hockey fan, specifically the blue jackets, too bad there's no hockey to watch.
  7. I just wanted to check in and post about my experience with Dr. Charles and his staff in Boca Raton. I had 1400 grafts all in the frontal hairline and feel this should really be a good move for me. I choose Dr. Charles after consulting with/or researching around a dozen doctors over the past year. The photos I had seen of his work looked very professional, and he was very easy to work with. Always willing to answer as many questions as I might have. The procedure was a breeze. Very minor discomfort with the initial anesthetic in the donor area was about it. Dr. Charles takes great care to make sure he has explained everything and follows up after surgery. The day after surgery I was suprised to find out that I wasn't having any real discomfort or swelling. I will try and check back in when I've had time to see some results, but so far my experience has been very positive.

  9. jacobS, 400 is the average recommendation by surgeons. one suggested 300,another 500. I have about 2"back,and 1 1/2 in. wide at widest point of V. on right side. Left 1 1/2 back,1" wide at deepest point.
  10. The consensus I have received so far seems to be 300 to 400 grafts. My loss is receding temples and a wider V shape(power alleys). I don't expect to return to perfect hairline,or have real thick density, just some decent coverage. How much surface area are we talking about with 400 grafts? Thanks.

  12. I was considering a consult with him and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with him.
