  4. Thanks Bill! One thing I would like to mention, that I did not expect, was the amount of swelling that happens. The Dr. mentioned it me but I blew it off. My forehead and at the side of eyes, eyebrows, (and where your sideburns would be) got real puffy and swollen for me so I put ice on each side of my eyes and forehead and kept them in place with a 6" wide ACE elastic bandage to keep compression on the area, this helped alot, however over night it would come back. So what I recc is to put the ACE bandage on over night (without ice) to keep compression on the area. I am using the Grafcyte product kit and it seems to work really well. I am also taking Whey protein mix with a whole slue of other supplements, NO VIT E! like MSM, L-Arginine, L-Glutamine, Pancreatin, Papain, Bromelain... oh heck here is the list: Pre Op 2wk prior & Post Op Supplements Vitamin A 3,500 iu Vitamin C 325mg Vitamin D3 200iu Vitamin K1 30mcg Thiamin 12.5mg Riboflavin 7.5mg Niacin 30mg Vitamin B6 7.5mg Folate 200mg Vitamin B12 25mcg Biotin 150mcg Pantothenic acid 25mg Calcium 50mg Iodine 75mcg Magnesium 75mg Zinc 27.5mg Selenium 100mcg Copper 1mg Manganese 2.5mg Chromium 75mcg Molybdenium 50mcg Boron 1mg Vanadium 25mcg Choline 37.5mg Inositol 12.5mg Citrus Bioflavonoids 50mg Post Op, everything above and add these: Quercetin 500mg Rutin 50mg Bromelain 250mg Papain 150mg Pancreatin 8x USP 50mg MIN Equivalent to 400 mg pancreatin USP With the following minimum enzyme activity: Lipase 2,000usp Protease 10,000usp Amylase 10,000usp L-Arginine hydrochloride 1,400mg L-Glutamine USP 500mg MSM 1,000 mg 3x daily Flaxseed Oil 1,000 mg 3x daily Arnica Montana 5 pills 3x daily

  6. Well I narrowed my search down to either Dr. Mike Meshkin in Newport Beach or Dr. Ken Siporin in Beverly Hills (Los Angeles) and I ended up with Dr. Ken Siporin. I seemed to hit it off better with Dr. Siporin (personality and their staff). I am having the surgery done next week. That's right, just after Christmas. Merry Christmas to me No Drinking The initial estimate is for 1750 graphs. I will be creating a blog and my story after I get it done. Thanks to this forum in helping me decide and all the priceless information I found lurking here.
  7. A healthy body is the ideal environment for healthy hair to thrive. This means that a good metabolism, and immune system are also key factors for growing healthy hair fast. So, your hair vitamin should contain specific nutrients that are essential for faster hair growth. For example, MSM lengthens the natural hair growth phase allowing greater lengths to be achieved. Biotin, another key ingredient, promotes cell growth, the production of fatty acids, metabolism of fats, and amino acids. These two ingredients in addition to the others (Folic Acid, Niacin, Silica, etc) are all essential for for maximizing hair growth. The anagen phase is the hair's growth phase. It is genetically determined. This is why some people can grow very long hair, while others cannot grow hair past their shoulders. A person who has an angen phase lasting six years will achieve much greater lengths than a person with only a two year anagen. Why is this? Because the hair grows in three phases: the anagen is the growth phase, the catagen is the growth phase and the telogen is the shedding phase. Have you ever noticed that many women's hair will grow much longer than normal when they are pregnant. This is because the high levels of estrogen that are present during pregnancy lock the hair follicles into the growth phase for nine months. Shortly after giving birth, however, these hormone levels return to normal and many hairs immediately go into the catagen then telogen phase, making it seem like they are losing their hair. So what can you do to make your anagen as long as possible? Until recently, it was something only genetics and pregnancy could do. Now, however, there is another option - MSM. Methylsolfonylmethane, or MSM, is a natural form of organic sulfonyl sulfur. This compound is present in many foods, especially most raw fruits and green vegetables. MSM provides sulfur that is required for healthy collagen and keratin. These are very important for healthy hair. MSM repairs and creates healthy cells thus allowing hair to grow more rapidly and achieve greater lengths. Your hair vitamins do not need to contain amino acids. This is because the use of an amino acid supplement is not necessary for growing longer hair. Amino Acids are the building blocks of protein. Thy are found in foods of animal origin, such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Most Americans eat more than enough protein to supply these amino acids. Any excess protein will be excreted in urine. This excess protein also causes excess nitrogen to be excreted in the urine which has been been linked to reduced kidney function in old age as well as osteoperosis (due to excretion of calcium). Only STRICT vegetarians should be concerned about their protein intake. Hair vitamins can increase your hair growth rate by up to 200%. However, to get the longest hair possible, you also need to eliminate all sources of breakage. If your hair is breaking at the same rate it is growing, it may seem as if your hair is not growing at all. Eliminating breakage involves the consistent use of gentle, but effective products.
  8. MSM Contains Suflur...and aside from being good for hair, it helps to with joint control when combined with glucosamine and chondroitin. What's so good about Sulfur? Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane (MSM) is organic sulfur, a naturally occurring compound in the human body. MSM is an odorless white crystal with a bitter taste in its purest form. Sulfur is a natural material that is required to perform certain biological functions in humans and animals. Within moderate levels, MSM helps the proper functioning of various biological processes involving healthy skin, strong nails and thick hair. For these reasons and more, MSM appears to be a versatile supplement because it has been used for a variety of health applications. Because MSM is a form of sulfur need for the body, it is an indispensable component in human nutrition. Sulfur exist in every cell in the body and it is biologically, structurally, and functionally important to 150 compounds. Sulfur is also necessary for bio-chemical operations involving hormones, enzymes, antibodies, and antioxidants. Thus, MSM supplementation is a necessary component in sustaining human health. Taking MSM for Hair Growth When it comes to MSM, hair loss is something that it can help with. That is because MSM is a sulfide which is said to stimulate hair growth. MSM is appearing in topical creams for this purpose. However, you can also take it internally in supplement form. The added benefit of taking it internally is that it will do more for your body than simply help your hair. It will also help your nails and skin and any arthritis like pains that you may be experiencing. Keep in mind that hair loss could also indicate a lack of nutrition in your body. It is a good idea to take a multi vitamin and mineral formula with a wide range of healthful ingredients. Like Total Balance by Xtend-Life(containing 68mg elemental Sulfur). They have several different formulas so just choose the one that fits your lifestyle. Some people claim taking MSM has boosted the growth of their scalp and body hair and nails. The only study I could find on the subject was done by Ronald M. Lawrence, who is also the co-author of the book 'The Miracle of MSM: The Natural Solution for Pain'. In the study, they fed 21 patients either 3,000 mg of MSM or a placebo. The patients taking MSM reported increased hair growth, brilliance and thickness, and improvement in nail strength, thickness and appearance after only 6 weeks. The sample size seems quite small, and the results haven't been reproduced elsewhere, so I'm not entirely convinced yet. But what the heck!
  9. Through some research I found this site for the product: http://www.makemeheal.com/mmh/...?procid=32&catid=415 I further found more about copper peptides here: http://www.regrowhair.com/non-...hair-loss-treatment/ Dr. Pickart's own copper peptide formula Folligen can be diluted with 50% water and used similarly to Graftcyte. While copper peptides alone will most likely not be enough to stave off future hair loss or regrow lost hair, the addition of a copper peptide treatment to one's hair loss regimen that includes a DHT-inhibitor like Propecia and a growth stimulator such as minoxidil can likely be extremely beneficial. Arnica Montana is known to reduce swelling and bruising. SinEcch is an arnica Montana remedy taken in pill form right after surgery to immediately reduce bruising, swelling, and discomfort, while Boiron Gel is a topical arnica cream that can be used once the incisions have closed (1-2 weeks post-op) to continue providing these healing benefits. Make Me Heal Plastic Surgery Healing Multinutrient Kit (Pre & Post-Op Formulas) http://www.makemeheal.com/mmh/product.do?id=13511 Interesting stuff.
  10. It appears this price of $300 to $350 has not changed much since 2003. I am scheduled for surgery and was quoted $300 for the product. I see on the web that it is only available through a Dr. So how is one able to obtain this product cheaper? Men's Kit: http://www.photomedex.com/product.php?pid=55 The GraftCyte?® Men's Kit gives you everything you need following a transplant procedure.
