Thank you so much. Have you seen improvements? I just ordered the Mediket Ictamo. Hopefully will slow down the sebum production

That said, there are multiple options for storing grafts prior to implantation (i.e fluids to store them in). You'd think that there would be probably some difference to outcomes, but as you say, it's difficult to know exactly where the thresholds are.

What I don't understand is that the time between the extraction and implantation is very crucial and should be less than 4 hours for 90% growth and at the same time follicles implanted will still need 5 days to connect with the blood supply to receive Oxygen. At least for me I am going to maximise the ATP spray after the surgery.

    Hey man,

They extracted and separated the grafts for half a day an the rest of the day was for implantation. We’ve done 3 full days between 8 am and 11 or 12 in the night.

Hey Thanks for the feedback,so you had great results even though follicles were out from the body stored in ATP solution for more than 6hours.

One other question does the doctor spray ATP solution on the grafts during implantation, did he gave you a solution to spray at home ?

    Thanks

7 months is still early, there’s still plenty of time for more growth and thickening.

    Hello Melvin,

I have an HT with Mwamba in August and I am concerned to see people complaining with the poor growth Yield. What's are your thoughts on this, maybe Dr. MWAMBA should be notified about the issues so he can adress them quickly. Would it be the long surgery hours that lead to this ?

    Thanks

That's crazy to me they took so long for ~1300. How much time was the surgery itself?

I went to Mwamba in April and they did 3700 in 3 days, although the first day was only ~100 grafts as a test after all of the prep work. The second day was 1900 over 4 sessions (from 8 am - 11 am, 12 pm - 3 pm, 4 pm - 7 pm, 8 pm - 11 pm) and the third day was 1700 over 3 sessions (12 pm - 3 pm, 5 pm - 8 pm, 9 pm - 12:30 am). Even then I felt they could have been a lot more efficient, but at least the time from extraction > implantation was incredibly rapid.

Did Mwamba do all the work himself, or did Dr. Ali assist too?

Can you please let me know if you remember how much time the hair follicles stays outside the scalp in average Thanks ?

    Hi all

After much delay due to COVID, my own indecisiveness and surgeon wait times I finally had my second transplant performed by Dr Kaan Pekiner

    Background

I have been losing hair since 2012 starting around age 20. I tried finasteride but quickly developed side effects so stopped immediately. Used topical minoxidil for the next few years which I hope slowed my loss slightly. I decided to pull the trigger and get my first transplant in 2017. I made the poor decision of choosing cost over quality, with Dr Cinik - who back then was considered one of the better low cost surgeons, think I payed 1750 Euros. I posted a topic about it, the results for the price were satisfactory apart from the fact they overharvested my donor a bit, which I only realized recently, that pissed me off. Anyway 6 years after my first transplant I feel I've lost maybe half a norwood or so & I wanted a touch up and add density. My treatments currently are minoxidil - oral + topical, micro needling & nizoral.

    Experience

For my second transplant I wanted to go with the best possible for my situation. From the patient testimonies & results I've found online, Dr Pekiner stood out among the best for me. I spoke with the coordinator through whatsapp, he sorted everything out for me pretty promptly. It was about a 4 month wait until surgery went ahead. The tedious travel of 4 flights from New Zealand to Ankara, Turkey did not disappoint, I had blisters on my feet when I finally arrived at the Green Park hotel. I arrived a few days early prior to surgery incase I missed a flight or delays. Reception at hotel spoke English, no one else really. I felt arrogant to an extent anyway speaking English in a country where it's not the native tongue, so I tried not to talk too much. The room service food at the hotel was delicious, not too costly either. The pepsi & coke in Turkey tastes bland though. I also nearly got run over looking the wrong way when crossing the road as they drive on the right side, where I'm used to cars on the left side.

The day of surgery I was picked up by one of the assistants, nice guy speaks a little English. The clinic is only a 2 minute drive from Green Park hotel. The state of the clinic was immaculate. Not a spec of dust to be seen. Upon arrival I met Dr Pekiner, he speaks English fluently & we discussed my situation, treatments etc. He is a very warm, caring, ethical man. I felt in great hands the whole time. He was the forefront of every stage of the procedure, drawing the hairline, extracting the grafts, inserting the grafts. He had the help of 2 assistants. He completed about 1200 grafts the first day, then 700 the next day as I had a flight out that night. Experience was flawless.

Flying back home at Istanbul air port - I was shocked by the pure number of hair transplant patients. On my flight alone, checking in and waiting for departure I counted at least 13 others. That is only what I saw, there were probably 20+ on my flight. Trying to half examine some of the work. I'd say sadly majority were done by mills. Nearly all were NW4-6 who looked like they just had a 3000-5000 grafts mega session that day, some of these guys heads were still bleeding. I saw someone whose mid-scalp looked like he had maybe 5 grafts per cm2. I felt pretty bad for them. On my last of 4 flights home, I lightly bumped my head on the recipient area on some kids elbow, I was exhausted not paying attention. Hopefully it doesn't affect the grafts growth

At home now, been spraying saline frantically

Your growth results from Cinik look exactly the same as mine after my HT with Cinik, very poor growth.

    Hi all,

I've been lurking in this forum for a long time and finally had my first transplant a week ago; I'm hoping to make a more detailed post later. I know it's very early and it is difficult to see how it will turn out at this point. However, I'm slightly concerned about my first week's results since the transplanted hair has not grown at all after the transplantation. From what I've learned at least some of the hair should temporarily grow in the first week before going into resting/shedding phase.

I learned 2 weeks prior to the transplantation that I have a mild iron deficiency anemia but the clinic assured that it wouldn't be a barrier to the surgery. Now I'm worried that there might be some problems (such as follicles not getting enough oxygen and dying) based on the initial results.

Would like to hear other people's experiences and opinions.

Follicles cannot grow during the first week due to no blood connection, so no nutrients and no oxygen for the first 5 days following surgery.

It grew better at the hairline for some reason. I’ve seen this many times. I wish I knew why.

I noticed the same on first 2 lines grew better than the rest and the worst been crown.

My theory is that these first line were implanted first and the crown was implanted last, these grafts were out from the solution was more time, keep in mind that grafts can survive for some minutes out of the solution.

The other risks is solutions are not created equal some have atp, some are just saline water so the grafts will die pretty quickly there.

I am going to another surgery, that's why I would like to know why having poor growth.

    Thanks

Repairs are not going to be cheap. They’re difficult, the doctor doesn’t have a fresh slate. Also, keep in mind, a repair can fail also. There’s no guarantees.

    Melvin, Thanks for your feedback,

That's why I would like to go with the best surgeon for yield growth and minimize trauma and transection. What are the top 3 in your mind for this task ?

We're comparing apples and oranges.  H&W is mostly a tech clinic with great techs (techs do a lot of the work, but not to be confused with a hair mill), whereas Pekiner is more hands on.  That said, H&W is a great clinic, because the techs are excellent, and they've been doing it a long time.  Yeah, I'd say Pekiner's graft survival rate is elite tier, right up there amongst the best.

I think Pekiner's hairlines are top 5 easily for me in the world.  The only negative would be that I see some multies escape here and there in hairlines (not enough to ruin the hairline, but they do appear sometimes).  It has been brought to my attention though that this also happens to most surgeons who are considered very good.

What about Bicer?  I think Pekiner is simply superior.  I think Bicer is decent, but in my view, Bicer's value has been inflated due to being very recommended on this forum.

Hi thank you for your answer.

I am not looking for esthetic, I juste want coverage, the most important thing for me is a Docotor who the work from A to Z or mostly done by him and that I am sure we are minimizing grafts trauma and trasection rate. I am looking for the best doctor in terms of Yields and growth not necessarily esthetic hairline

Would you consider Pekiner to be as equal to Bisanga and Mwamba or a tier below.

    Thanks

Pekiner for me is the best in Turkey.  He's not on the recommended list on this forum, but I don't think I've seen many doctors even anywhere else internationally that are as good as him on hairlines, graft survival, etc.  Just saw a case of his on the HT Reddit, fantastic work as always.

That said, he seems to not want to take your case.  IDK if you're on medication or not, but if you're not, he's absolutely right, and you do want to see how much ground you make up first on medication before going down a HT scenario.

Hi, you stated grafts survival with Dr Pekiner is good, do you have any insight, would he be as good as Bisanga and H&W for Follicules survival and Yield growth. What about Dr Yaman and Dr Bicer ?

Ok well if you’ve exhausted other possible reasons then yes of course repair work is the next step. You’ve still got some growth so it isn’t a complete failure and one I am sure a decent Dr can work with.

The more Dr involvement the better but they don’t have to carry out every part of the process if the techs are skilled enough. Certain stages however such as incisions id expect and want the Dr to do this.

I’m 6 months on from surgery for the same area with Bicer, my journey so far is in another topic on here if you want to take a look for reference. I’d recommend her without doubt but mine was a first transplant so not sure what she’s like for repairs

Given your case I’d search for repair jobs on the forum and see if any are close to your own situation. Have you reached out to many clinics?

I have reached to a couple clinics and waiting feedback.

Do you know if Dr. BICER AND DR. YAMAN are reputable doctor who do the majority of the work ?

    Thanks

You’d be best visiting a dermatologist and having some blood work done first to try and figure out why the first HT wasn’t a success.

Only once you’ve eliminated all possible other reasons and you’re certain it’s the surgeons fault should you book another transplant.

I have already went to a dermatologist, he saw my scalp said it a beautiful MPB, also some hair grew, I think it was botched by technician in Turkey
